My iPhone is in recovery mode but in Itunes it cannot connect to thge software update server
I unsuccessfully updated new software yesterday which resulted in my phone completely crashing. It told me to connect to iTunes. When I did this it said I must restore to factory settings which I did and then attempted to restore iPhone. It then needs to connect to the iPhone software update server but it has been trying to do this all night and cannot.
Any ideas? Unsurprisingly I can't get an appointment at the Apple store until Friday and am without a phone in the meantime.

Hi all, im trying to restore my iphone 4S, however i keep getting error 1611 i have tried uninstalling itunes and everything else related, i have tried kicking the iphone out of recovery mode but then it gets stuck on the apple logo for a few seconds then changes to the low battery symbol then goes back to the apple logo and this continues untill i put it back into recovery or dfu mode, i have tried everything can anyone help me ?? thank you!

iphone 3, yes its old but it was free, does not have the software update available on the menu....so how do I update it?

I have a mac but am experiencing the same prompt? "iTunes could not contact the iPod software update server because you are not connected to the Internet. Make sure your Internet connection is active and try again."

I tried to update my iPhone running 6.1.2 to 6.1.3 it showed an error and went into recovery mode but when I try to restore it it doesnt even got restored.......... ! Please Help !!!

Iphone stuck in Recovery mode and Windows says it cannot find drivers
My phone is stuck in recovery mode and XP is saying that it cannot find iphone. The drive driver menu shows a big yellow quesiton mark for two Apple Mobile Device (Recovery Mode). This all happned during the ios4 update. I tried to manually point the system to the Apple folder but it could not find a driver. Now my iphone is stuck recovery mode. Help.

This problem happens due a conflict between the Samsung's Software "NEW PC STUDIO" and the Apple Drivers!
The solution is unistall all Samsung's Software and removing all Apple Softwares as well (like iTunes, device drivers etc)
Then cleaning the Windows Register with some software like CCleaner AND manually using REGEDIT, just find for Samsung (carefully with other Samsung Devices like HardDrive. You musn't remove something like that) then, finding for New PC Studio.
Remove all Keys related Samsung New PC Studio.
Restart your PC and reinstall iTunes lastest version.
Now, you can put your iPhone in Recovery Mode that Windows will recognize it! -
I update my iphone 5c ios 7.1.2 (i think) to ios 8.0.2, however when it was intalling it suddently stppoed and my iphone only displayed the itunes icon with the cable plug in in the screen. I searched all over the internet for the solution and it says to turn the device into recovery mode and plug it to itunes so it can restore with ios 8 on it, however my itunes doesnt find my device in any way, i tried updating my itunes my windows everything, but still doesnt work, help please!!
If your phone is in recovery mode, all data on it are gone. Certainly before performing a software update, you backed up your data and imported your important photos onto your computer, right?

My phone is in recovery mode.
I think my husband detached it from the USB when it was near the end of a big sync to answer a call.
It was the first time I had plugged the phone into my PC to add all my music. I had the phone replaced at an Istore when I needed a new screen a few weeks ago.
I had named the phone etc at the beginning of the sync, but when I plug it in Itunes is just calling it 'Iphone' and saying I need to reset factory settings and will lose all my data.
Can I call up the 'devices list' on Itunes to see if it has my backup there?
I have my contact list off Icloud as my husband was using my icloud and I didnt want to merge phone lists.
Any ideas or am I done for?????

Itunes can see there is a phone attached, but is not recognising it and naming it as my phone.

Got error when updating to iOS 6, and then the phone went to recovery mode (picture of the USB cable and an arrow to the Itunes mark).
i have tried to do as the help suggested, by restarting the phone, holding in the home button and connecting it again to the USB cable.

This has solved loads of people who have this issue and have used an alternate DNS setting. Below are instructions for both iPhone OTA and on you Mac
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try an OTA (over the air update)
Change DNS Servers
Settings -> Wi-Fi
Click the blue arrow on your connected network
Delete everything in DNS and replace it with 208.67.222.222, 208.67.220.220
Try again
If this works, you will probably want to remove the WiFi network using "Forget This Network" and then reconnect to it to get your original DNS servers back. Alternatively, make a note of the original DNS servers before deleting them and replace it after you are done.
If you are getting the error message "Unable to check for update" when you try through iTunes
On your Mac
Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, and then click Network.
Select the network connection service you want to use (such as Wi-Fi or Ethernet, unless you named it something else) from the list, and then click Advanced.
Click DNS, and then click Add at the bottom of the DNS Servers list. Enter the IPv4 address for the DNS server.

Usually a sign of a jailbroken iPhone & since Apple does not support jailbreaking, that's what happens. If that's the case with you, we can't help you here...the terms of use prohibit such. Sorry, but you'll have to go elsewhere.
