My Bosses iPhone is merging different contacts with the same firstname into one contact. How can i resolve this? He seems very disturbed and thinks i don't know what i'm doing. I've set up all his devices to sync across and now its messed up on his iPad, and two iPhones.
E.G Contacts with firstname 'Adams' and different numbers are synced into one account.
Now i have no clue how many contacts are this way cos he has a huge number of contacts (he's the ceo).
Please i need a suggestion on how to fix this.

My screen shot shows both devices because I sync wirelessly. Right now I can change the iPod name but not the iPad name because the iPod is idle while the iPad is syncing. In another minute or two, I'll be able to change the iPad name.

I was able to connect the first time, but after that my computer simply rejects the Iphone and nothing happens. The Iphone doesn't spin or try to reboot even! .
WHAT to do? I got it today.When you say it ignores your iPhone, do you mean it does not appear in iTunes if you launch iTunes? Or it does not appear in Finder? Or does not appear in iPhoto? Or you get an error message?

You're ignoring context. On the old Apple Discussion Groups I never posted replies like that, instead giving people relatively detailed answers. The new Apple Support Communities made things worse by introducing certain inefficiencies. Then came Lion. The flood of messages that came with Lion required a painful choice for any of the people who had been helping here: (1) Give quality responses to a few questions and ignore the rest. The people helping here are all volunteers. None of them is being paid for the time they spend here. They all have a life outside of Apple Support Communities. It's arrogant of you to demand that people helping here spend more time than they already do. -

I figured it out. You have to have location services turned on specifically for the native weather app. My husband already did and that's why his was working. In the previous ios, I chose to disable location services to save battery and had the widget set to show weather for my home city regardless of where I was. Now that doesn't appear to be an option. Hopefully it won't drain my battery too much.

I just backed up my photos by copying my iPhoto Library onto an external drive. Now the Library on my MacBook won't open. I can only open the photos if the external is plugged in. How can I resolve this issue?
Exactly what did you do?
The correct steps are
Moving the iPhoto library is safe and simple - quit iPhoto and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity to the external drive - depress the option key and launch iPhoto using the "select library" option to point to the new location on the external drive - fully test it and then trash the old library on the internal drive (test one more time prior to emptying the trash)
And be sure that the External drive is formatted Mac OS extended (journaled) (iPhoto does not work with drives with other formats) and that it is always available prior to launching iPhoto
And backup soon and often - having your iPhoto library on an external drive is not a backup and if you are using Time Machine you need to check and be sure that TM is backing up your external drive
My guess is that that you have not switched iphoto to use the external drive yet - opttion launch and select libary

WPC: unable to add different resources with the same name into a WPC page
Hi,
I got a WPC problem when adding different KM resources with the same name into a WPC page. Only one KM resource is able to be added in WPC.
For example:
There two "article.html" with different content and RID:
1. /company_a/article.html
2. /company_b/article.html
when adding these two html pages into a WPC page, only one page will be shown.
This means that a WPC page is not able to contain resources with same file names. I think the problem might lie on the resource-linking mechanism of WPC. WPC will add a resource link in the page folder, when a new resource is drag&dropped into WPC.
Anyone has some good ideas to solve my problem? Thanks a lot.

IE John Smith & Peter Jones all in the first name, by doing this if you search your contacts either by searching for john, peter, smith or jones the number will show up and if either calls the number will show John Smith & Peter Jones, it may not be perfect but will work. As the phone only recognises a number if two seperate entries of the number exist with different names it cannot possibly know who is calling ?

They were taken at different times, even different years. I have used more than one camera to import photos. I have changed the name of one of the photos in the Title area in the information section of iPhoto. When I try to put the newly named photo into a folder that has the other IMG_1243, I get a message that says" An older item named "IMG_1243" already exists. Do you want to replace it with the newer one you are moving?"
I want to have both IMG_1243.jpg photos in the same folder. How can I do this? Also, I have a few thousand pictures, so how can I tell exactly how many photos have the same file name as another photo?Celtic Mom

It sounds like you are using the finder inside the iPhoto library - do not do that - you will corrupt your library and lose the edits, keywords, etc that you have
iPhoto does not care about duplicate file names - it handles it fine
changing the title of a photo does not affect the file name - although when you export the photo you can use the title for the file name as an option
What are you doing and what do you want to accomplish?
Remember do not ever make any changes in the iPhoto library using the finder or any other program

I have a genre section 'Christmas' with around 130 songs on my classic ipod, but when I set it to play it only plays 10 songs than stops. I have also copied all of the genre to a new playlist 'Xmas' and the same thing happens with the same 10 songs. How can I fix this problem ?

The delete button in Mail gives me this message: “91590.emlx” couldn’t be copied to “Messages” because an item with the same name already exists. The only thin that has changed is an OS update last evening. (Mountain Lion)
Thanks...it was spooky seeing the mail in my box suddenly disappear and blank after going to Mailbox and Rebuild. But "poof" it was up again and was able to delete without the messages telling me it had a duplicate in trash (which it did). Solved the problem.

You can't just merge them. You will have to add the photos of Book B to Book A and add new pages to A to duplicate those in B.
NOthing was said about copying and pasting - you add the photos from book B to book a, add pages to bbok a and recreate teh pages in book a
Another way would be to print book B to PDF sending the PDF to iPhoto and then placing the pages as full page images in book A
