My iPhone is no longer downloading mail messages

I have both my work e-mail and Gmail on my iPhone.  For some reason, my work e-mails are no longer automatically being pushed to my phone unless I click on the Mail icon and wait for it to connect/download.  This isn't the case for my Gmail...and my work account has the push setting.  Any idea why all of a sudden this would change?

I have had a 3GS for 2+ years.  After upgrading to IOS 4 (now 4.3.5) I began having problems.  In the past week, my screen went to the itunes logo and USB cable twice -- unprovoked -- just found it sitting there like that!  I connected to itunes and it did restore from a backup but it is a major inconvenience.  I am also searching for answers, but better back-up regularly!

  • POP Account No Longer Downloading Mail From BT Yahoo

My setting have remained totally unchanged for the last six months, but Thursday evening I stopped receiving any of my emails via "Mail" from my BT account (.mac is still working). I had downloaded some 20 small audio files from a friend (a job I'm involved with) that evening - and wonder whether it triggered some kind of mechanism at the server -but I can still send out from mail to the server, or forward to the .mac account from the server at Yahoo. I assume this will be a BT issue, and not my problem, as I have no filters set up and all settings set to receive all incoming mail, dubious or not? Anyone else suddenly had any issues? Thanks in advance.
PS I also deleted all the incoming mail that had attachments just in case 'mail' had reached its limit, but even my test message isn't coming back to me (but it is appearing on the BT Yahoo web page).

    Hi Prescu and BDAqua,
I had a very competent help desk employee talk me through the problem today. It was either a corrupt email causing a blockage, or more likely that the webmail in-box had reached its capacity (apparently even with 'unlimited' accounts they can get too big and cause a blockage thus preventing MacMail from being able to pull emails from the server). I created a new folder on my ISP's Webmail and transferred everything there - then once I'd hit 'get new email' from within Mail gradually (probably ten to twenty minutes) things started to flow in as they should. No idea how the .mac emails got onto the webmail and I've not checked this out yet -but at least it works again at a very important time!
Hope this helps and thanks for the input - much appreciated.
PS I was told this will happen again at some point so to be prepared!

  • 10.3.1.1779 causes three out of four of my email accounts to no longer download new messages (I consider it bricked)

I started using my mothballed and unlocked Q10 a week ago, and unfortunately it was set to Automatically Download and Install Software Updates.
After updating to 10.3.1.1779 I noticed three out of my four email accounts aren't downloading new email messages.
The only way to get new email messages is to delete the email account and then create it again.  The problem is this is a temporary fix, and after a day or so the email accounts will stop refreshing.
I have the same issue with my new (few week old) Passport (10.3.1.1372).  Blackberry support indicated this is a known issue and all I can do is wait for an OS update.
In fact I took the SIM from the Passport and put it into my mothballed Q10, because as far as I'm concered a Blackberry that can't download new email messages is a bricked smartphone.
I will mothball the Q10 again with my brand new (weeks old) ATT Passport.  They will sit gathering dust for months+ until the OS gets fixed.
Luckily I have a Z30 and Z10 to use, and they have old OS 10 versions without this bug.
Blackberry better get this fixed ASAP.  I'm actually considering switching to Iphone because of this, and I'd never thought I'd say that.  A smartphone that can't reliably download email is a brick, it can't be trusted, there is almost no point in carrying it.
I can wait a month or two, after that I'll be rethinking my use of Blackberry.
What would the average person do with this problem, they don't have five unlocked BB10 devices like I do.  They only have one.  They will have to stop using their BB and get another device.
I'm not sure how to back out the OS version.  I'll look into that next.  I already miss the Q10.

Now I now know exactly what is happening, however don't know how to permanently fix the issue.
What is happening, is duplicate Inbox's are created for the account on the BB.
I discovered this by pressing the "v" on the top of the displayed account.
When you do this you can see Inbox, Outbox, Drafts, etc.
I notice > 1 Inbox.  Actually this morning on my Q10, I had two Inbox's, now three.
None of them are green icons with a circular set of arrows.
If I'm missing a received email on the currently displayed Inbox, I'll find it in another of the Inboxes.
This is a total pain in the butt.  I hope Blackberry knows this is an issue.
I'm not even sure how to report it, without paying for support !
For now I'll delete, then add back the account, to atleast start fresh with one Inbox.  I'm sure multiple Inboxes will show up over time.

  • I have been unable to download mail messages since 13.00pm on 11/04/2015, no settings have been changed on my laptop. Says downloading 1 of 12 but none rec'd

    Hello Ezyk
There are some things that you can check through Mail, the following article will assist with troubleshooting and getting your email back up and running. The big one to use is Connection Doctor, it will tell you why it cannot connect and get mail.

  • Mail in Mavericks is not downloading mail messages if I read them in iOS mail app. Why?

    More info:
The accounts in question are domains hosted by Google.  Needless to say this is frustrating as in some cases I have to download the attachments in those messages, I have to forward the emails to another account in order to see them.
I have a feeling if a message is marked read the mail application does not bother to grab them.  This is a different behaviour than before prior to the update.  I'd appreciate any solutions.
    Thanks in advance.

  • IPhone 3 refuses to download mail from one account

I have four mail accounts on my iPhone 3 and just one of them refuses to download emails. I get the messaage 'Downloading 1 of 25' but nothing happens. My Macbook & iPad work fine with all accounts. Restoring the iPhone has not worked. Any suggestions as to how tp solve this much appreciated.

Assuming she’s supposed to be able to send from that address with that outgoing server and that the outgoing server settings are correct (which I don’t know), here are some things that may be worth looking at.
Mail keeps information about outgoing (SMTP) servers in a separate list independently of the mail accounts themselves. The account settings just associate one of the available outgoing servers with each account. Deleting an account doesn’t remove from the list the outgoing server that was associated with it. Orphaned or dangling outgoing server entries (i.e. not associated with any account) sometimes cause weird sending problems. Go to Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP), choose Edit Server List from the popup menu, and delete any servers that shouldn’t be there — the Edit Server List panel shows the account each outgoing server is associated with.
If the problem persists and you have more than one mail account, try moving the account that has the problem to the top of the list in Preferences > Accounts.
Go to Apple Menu > System Preferences > Network, choose Network Port Configurations from the Show popup menu, and make sure that the configuration used to connect to Internet appears at the top of the list. Leave checked (enabled) only the port configuration needed to connect to Internet and Built-in Ethernet (in that order if not the same), uncheck (disable) the rest of network port configurations and see whether that helps — if it doesn’t, turn ON again the ones you want enabled.
Try using a different method to connect to Internet, if possible, or connecting the computer to Internet as directly as possible (i.e. bypassing any routers that might be present, using an ethernet cable instead of wireless, etc.), or shutting down both the computer and the router/modem used to connect to Internet, restarting, and see whether that makes a difference.

  • IPhone - Discerning High Importance/Urgent Mail Messages

Help! I have an iPhone 3G S. I can see my work email (MS Hosted Exhcange) on my unit, but I can't figure out how to discern when I get a High Importance/Urgent message. Like on Outlook it gives you an exclamation point. Any suggestions?
    Thanks much.

The iPhone mail app treats all emails equally. The importance rating thing is an Outlook thing.

  • IPhone 4s suddenly stopped downloading mail

First my phone stopped sending mail now I can send but it's not downloading from virgin media.  Haven't changed any settings

Delete the gmail account on the phone. Re-boot your phone, re-create the gmail account & see if that fixes the problem.

  • IPhone 5 no longer syncing mail accounts - why?

I sync my iPhone 5 at least once a day.  However, in the last couple days I receive the dialogue box that advises the mail accounts cannot be synced due to the iPhone using them.   And instructs me to turn the accounts off, in the iPhone.
This is a first.  And I don't know why.
And, with reluctance, turned the mail accounts off - though not Gmail as there was a warning that I would lose calendar data.
Is this issue another outcome of the "upgrade"?
How can I make syncing revert to normal service?
    Thank you

Because they are discontinuing this phone...you can get the iPhone 4S, 5C, or 5S now. (Depending on your country).

  • "notes" from iPhone is no longer in Mail

hi, the previous version of OS X will have a “notes” tab that sync with the “notes” app on my phone, but now it is gone. can anyone please help advise where i can find it?  thx.

First go to iCloud.com and see if the notes are synced there. If not, you need to set up syncing to iCloud in Settings on the iPhone. If the notes are there, go to System Preferences/iCloud and make sure Notes is checked there.

  • Getting the iPhone to download Mail only over WiFi

    Hello All,
I was just wondering if there is a Way to get the iPhone 3G , to download mail messages only when it is on a WiFi Network (WLAN) and not over the 3G or EDGE (data) cellular network? Or is there a way to get the iPhone to download only mail headers?

    You're welcome.
When an iPhone is connected to an available wi-fi network, all data is uploaded/downloaded via the wi-fi network only so no data charges with your cellular provider applies when doing so. There is one exception and that is if your cellular provider supports the iPhone's visual voicemail feature. All visual voicemail is downloaded to the iPhone via the cellular data/internet network only, but the amount of data for each voicemail downloaded is small.
The iPhone is designed to always have an internet connection as long as there is a wi-fi network available that you have access to, or cellular reception. The iPhone switches from an available wi-fi network to the cellular network and back again automatically and seamlessly. When you leave the range of an available wi-fi network that you have access to, the iPhone will switch to the cellular network for internet access automatically. When you are within range of an available wi-fi network that you have access to, the iPhone will switch to the wi-fi network automatically. This is done in both directions with no prompt or warning.
The iPhone does include an Ask to Join Networks option - for available wi-fi networks that you want to join. I have this option turned off since I was constantly prompted to join an available wi-fi network anytime my iPhone was in range of an available wi-fi network I don't have access to or want to join. After you have successfully joined an available wi-fi network, the network settings are saved on your iPhone. When returning within range of such a wi-fi network, your iPhone will automatically connect to the wi-fi network without any prompt - as long as you have wi-fi access turned on.
The iPhone will always connect to the fastest available network first. When in range of an available wi-fi network that you have access to and have previously joined, the iPhone will automatically connect to the wi-fi network. When leaving the range of an available wi-fi network that you have access to, the iPhone will switch to the 3G network if available. If not, the iPhone will switch to the EDGE network if available, followed by switching to the GPRS network (which is the slowest cellular data connection) if 3G and EDGE access is not available. All this is done without any prompt - automatically and seamlessly.
Regarding tracking data uploaded and downloaded via the cellular network, the iPhone includes this under the Usage section, which can be reset at any time such as when your billing cycle starts.

  • Compare two mail message

I am writing an application to download mail messages from some other pop3/imap mail servers to the folder that created at default imap server.
I want to compare the message get from server and current messages inside the folder, so I don't get the duplicates. How do I compare two Message object?
    Thanks in advance!

The way I will do it is to creat a new class that extends java.mail.Message. In such a subclass, one can override "equal" method to compare the data within.
