My iphone is showing a screen with an arrow pointing to itunes....it will do nothing! HELP
Slight correction....the image is a usb plug pointing to the itunes logo. It also does not show up on the itunes page as it normally does. (Note: I did try going through the trouble shooting section of iphone....but shutting it off and on DOES NOTHING to change the image shown or function of the phone. It seems to be LOCKED up. HHHHHEEEEELLLLLPPP....PLEASE!!
Have you tried plugging it into your computer? It wants to be restored with iTunes.
Hope you've been syncing and backing up on a regular basis, because in the state it's in now, anything that was on it is gone.

Hi, I bought an iPod 2 and I jailbreaked it before. I tried to download the iOS 5.0.1 from the Settings icon on my iPad 2 but then my iPad wouldn't turn on anymore and it kept on showing a screen with an arrow pointing to an iTunes symbol. I later learned that this was the recovery screen so I tried to put it out of the recovery mode by pressing the home button and power button simultaneously, but the screen kept on returning back to the recovery screen. I could not restore the iPad 2 on iTunes either, so I downloaded Tiny Umbrella 5.10.01 and tried to save the shsh. However, under the recovering devices section on the left side, my iPad did not appear and I only got a device titled ?18092..... I tried to save the shsh of this ?18902... anyways but this did not work. So, I clicked on the device and pressed the exit recovery but then my iPad2 screen went black with a white apple logo in the middle. This logo keeps on dimming and disappearing and even when I plug my iPad 2 to the computer, neither my iTunes nor the Tiny Umbrella notice it. I need urgent help!

At this point only a restore will fix your issue. -

I googled what to do Nd it says to plug it into itunes on your computer but I no longer own a computer. There is nothing that you can do except do what the phone is asking you to do and plug it into a computer to update it with iTunes.
I think Apple would have given you the same response too because there is nothing else that you can do - there is no other way to update the phone except by plugging it into a computer and using iTunes.
There is nothing we can do if you don't like the answers you are getting, but there is nothing else to do and it is hardly Apple's fault if you don't own a computer any longer. Unfortunely you need a computer for this, so there is really no work aounrd. -

In order to allow it to be used on a different carrier, the phone was hacked or jailbroken. An unauthorized modification was made to the phone. That modification has damaged the phone. You can not get support for it here or from Apple. -

It sounds like your phone is in recovery mode, which means it needs to be restored through iTunes on your computer in order to get out of it.

I was attempting to update iphone 4s today, laptop went flat during the last stages. The iphone now only displays USB cord, with an arrow pointing towards iTunes emblem. iTunes will not accept/read the iphone. HELP??
If you have the latest version of iTunes you should not have to download the ipsw file separately as jalp suggests. iTunes will download it automatically.
This error (9) most often means that your antivirus or firewall (or router) is blocking access to Apple's servers. In rare instances it can also mean that the phone was hacked (or "jailbroken") to unlock it. If this is the case you must do a DFU restore, not Recovery Mode, as follows:
Reboot your computer
Disable your antivirus and firewall. If you has Kaspersky you may actually have to uninstall it, as it can never be turned completely off.
Connect the USB cable to a USB port directly on your computer, not to a hub. DO NOT connect the other end to the phone
Disconnect all USB devices except for mouse, keyboard and iPhone cable.
Launch iTunes
On the phone hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time for EXACTLY 10 seconds, then release the SLEEP button but continue holding the HOME button. The screen should be black. If it has an Apple logo this means you held both buttons too long. Release the HOME button and do it again.
While holding the HOME button connect the free end of the cable to the phone.
After a short while iTunes should recognize a phone in "recovery mode" (iTunes doesn't know the difference between DFU and Recovery modes, but the phone does)
Release the HOME button and don't touch the phone or the computer until the process completes or you get an error message. Ignore any displays on the phone.
If the error recurs the phone was probably messed up when it was hacked. This is not a hardware problem, or if it is, it isn't one you can fix.
You can try repeating these steps with a different computer and a different cable. If that fails also the phone is probably not repairable. -
How do I fix my Ipad, tried to update it, now its stuck on a screen with a cable pointing towards itunes and asking me to restore, but i cant, it tells me that restore was interrupted because of a corrupted file.

I installed the latest update to my iphone 4 and now all I have is a display of the white usb cord with arrow pointing to ITunes with a clue circle with the musical note in it displayed. One of my users let his wife use his iPad 3 and now the device is forzen with the itunes icon appearing on the screen along with the USB charging/interface cable with an arrow pointing to the iTunes icon.
How do a reset the device or clear the message?
