My iphone is showing my email, not my #.

i went to settings>message>send/recieve and it has my number and email but it wont let me click on my number! its like grayed out. i have tried to turn imessage off then back on 3 times and nothing, any ideas?

there´s nothing you can´t do to, your numbre will always be selected. What you can do is to select a default account (your number or an email) which it will send messages from.

Iphone 4s showing duplicate email account @me and cloud

I just purchased a new Macbook Air and was setting up the cloud services on my phone and on my new MB Air. I've had the phone for a while, and had set up the email account on the phone as my mobile me account. When I set up the cloud service on my MB Air and on my Iphone 4s, I was asked to merge the account from the mobile me to the icloud service. I followed all the instructions and everything worked like a charm - contacts updated to my devices, photos etc. However I just noticed a problem on my iPhone, which now when I look at my email icon, it says 66 emails, when I open it up, it showing 2 accounts, both say iCloud, however one is the actual iCloud icon and the other has the mobile me cloud icon. When I went into my settings on my iphone, I figured I'd just go and delete the mobile me email account, however it says (iCloud - account says my mobile me email address).
I'm not sure i want to delete the account, because if I uncheck the Mail (turn it off), all of my emails go away. When I turn it on, it shows duplicate email accounts.
I must be doing something wrong, but have been racking my brain for the last hour or so and I just can't seem to figure it out.
Any help???

Install a SIM card.
If you have and the error is still occurring the a hardware issue most likely exists.

Gmail on IPhone Only Showing Old Emails

I woke up today and when I went to check my gmail on my phone I only have emails from stores, hotels, the philharmonic etc. None of my personal emails are showing up. All of the emails I am seeing are old emails that were never opened (since they are basically junk). I checked my email on my computer and I have received personal emails this morning but they are not coming through on my phone.
Have I somehow set my gmail on my phone to show certain message types only?
Please provide suggestions for how I can get my email back to a functioning state on my phone.

Multiple outgoing mail servers is not the problem. It is common to have them; if one fails the iPhone will try the next one.
If you are using a POP3 provider and you are getting old messages on the phone that have already been retrieved by your computer then either the mail server is not properly deleting messages that have been downloaded by the computer or your computer is set to leave the original messages on the server. You can check this setting in the mail.app preferences on your Mac. If it is set to delete after downloading then the problem is in your mail provider.

Spotlight on Iphone 4 showing deleted emails

When I use spotlight for various searches, it shows email messages which I have already deleted. Although when you select them it takes you to the folder the message was originally stored in, but the message is not there.
The messages are not in any trash folder or deleted messages folder either on the iphone itself or on the server. It doesn't seem to matter whether it's a POP account or IMAP account.
There are also a number of messages which can be read - these seem to be ones that I have written or started to write, but not actually sent (could have been saved as a draft - but again nothing in the draft folders). You get taken to and can read the full email from being selected in spotlight, but is not stored anywhere in my mail folders.
I'm running the latest version of iOS 5.1.
Is there anyway to either reset the spotlight cache, or delete the cache to remove all these "deleted" emails from spotlight. I have searched many forums, but to no avail.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I was able to contact a company that has a similar app as ierase. Now I understand the issue. These programs do overwrite "free space." But, WITHIN various apps, including email, there are files that basically point you to the data by saving a line or two (in the case of emails) in the application itself. This is called a "cache." These files live in the apps, not the free space. It's important because that's how computers know how to "remember" stuff for you so you can search, etc. BIG BUT: iPhone does not allow you to remove the cache or specific items from it. Android phones seem to have this setting. Your computer has this capability. But your iphone does not. The only way to remove information from the cache is to do a complete restore and not back up with iTunes. Puleese tell me if I'm wrong.
Think of it as a file cabinet. The top drawer has the operating system files that don't get touched unless there is an update of the operating system, e.g. to 5.1.1. The second drawer contains all your applications, with subfolders for each one. The subfolders contain a whole lotta flags (often called placeholders). These flags say: go to file drawer 3 and look up such and such. File drawer 3 i is your free space where all the stuff you do is stored. If you go to file drawer 2 and remove the flags, the system doesn't where to look for stuff in file drawer 3. You can add and remove files from drawer 3, or zero out the data, but the flags are still hanging around in drawer 2. You get my drift. I'm so right brained...
This is my basic understanding of why this problem is so widespread. It would be nice if Apple could allow cache editing.

IPhone messages show numbers and not contact names

My iPhone in messenger is showing phone numbers and not contacts. My contacts are OK, was working Ok just stopped today. Not sure why?

huh.. after a lot of experiments it now works
the contacts in n82 only dsplayed, contacts with names and numbers.. surprisingly when i connected my phone to pc suite and not nseries pc suite and checked the contacts through my computer, i noticed that there were duplicate entries... for all numbers without names
i deleted them and now its okay

Synk email btw Iphone/Mac showing read emails/deleting

I have recently started using iCloud. I changed to Imap from Pop and now I get all emails to both devices. My problem is that all the emails I get into my Iphone remain marked as "unread" until I open each email there, even if they are read on my Mac. The same if I delete an email, it doesn't get deleted on the other device. Any suggestions appreciated!

Iphone 5 Contacts send emails not make calls

I have an iPhone 5 and for some reason, when i open my contacts to make a voice call, i select the contact i want and instead of making a voice call it opens up my emails and creates a new mail. I am now unable to select a contact to make a vioce call. Also, when sending a text message, the person recieving the text message recieves it from my email address not from my mobile number. Any help would be much appreciated as not being able to make voice calls from my phone kind of makes it pointless!

This is about my iMessage .. I've seen a lot of discussions about this but none worked for me . It shows my apple id instead Of my number. When I click "receive at" it has no line where I can enter my number it just says add another email adress?
I have tried signing out of my apple I'd and activating iMessage again it still does not say receive at my number.. I have tried practically everything nothing seems to work .. Help please !

ICloud setup on iphone 5 shows ancient email address, can't change it- help!

setting>iCloud is stuck in 'account not verified' alert mode with 'check Email' highlighted, but email address in 'account' is years old and non-existant now. It won't allow me to tap and change to current address. Why is the ancient email address even there, long gone before each of the current devices were barely eye-twinkles? Have iCloud on my Mac, why doesn't it sync the correct email account when connected? Thank you for any advice.

IPhone library showing up but not playable on new computer

I recently got a new laptop and downloaded iTunes for it, transferred my library folder to the laptop and imported it into iTunes. But now when I plug in my iPhone, the list of songs and podcasts does show up, but it's all greyed out and I can't play it through iTunes. Any ideas?

Iphone will sync/manage/access from ONE computer at a time.
You cannot access itunes content on the iphone from another computer.
You will need to sync to your new computer. This will erase all itunes content from the iphone and replace with music from your computer. As you have moved your music over, you should lose nothing.
