My iphone keeps searching; recuring problem

I have seen a bunch of threads regarding the iphone5 stuck on searching for network and various fixes but none that matches my case exactly so I am starting this new one.
Ok so I had the searching problem, took the phone back to Apple and they swapped it for another (restored my data from the cloud), then it happend again so I figured it must be a bad sim and got a replacement. Then it didnt happen for a while and then it came back.
I found I can fix the problem by doing an iphone restore from my mac BUT its happening almost once a week now and as well as being inconvinient it means I just cant trust my phone, a big issue as a i run my own business and need to be available for family etc.
I can only think there must be something corrupt in my data profile but  im stuck becuase apple dont have answers and my carrier doesnt think its their fault either.
Any ideas?
thanks
Matt

Hi, did you ever solve the problem? Did you get a new phone?
I started having this problem yesterday and am afraid I will be bounced back between Apple and the service provider. The service provider already told me to go see Apple which I will do tomorrow. We'll see if they can find the problem.

    Hi NWL1,
Thanks for the question. If I understand correctly, the iPhone won't update and is stuck. I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you resolve or isolate the issue.

  • Unable to sync over wifi - iPhone keeps searching for the macbook

When I try to sync my iPhone 4 (iOS 5) with itunes it just keeps searching for my macbook but is apparently unable to find it - it does not sync. I have set up both iTunes and the phone to sync over wifi and they are on the same wifi network, and itunes is open on the macbook. What can be wrong?

hey krispyking22 are you still looking for a solution ?

  • Iphone 5 keeps searching network problem....

My iphone 5 today suddenly started started searching network,
I took out the SIM card , it still kept searching for network instead of saying no sim or no service.
I reset network settings, then all settings, turned phone on off several times, put back sim in, hard reset it etc.
I haven't restored it from itunes that I will do next but I am wondering if any one had simlar problem.
Taking SIM card out should changed it to no sim or no service but it doesn't do that so that is weird. It doesn't matter which location because I was in my car when it started searching and I came back home still the same.
Another thing is it doesn't give me an option to select carrier manually as that option has disappeared from the settings.

Well I had the exact same problem with my Iphone 5s, I tried many things such as turning the airplane mode on/off, restarting the device and also did a network settings reset. Nothing helped.
The next thing I did was to do a general reset via iTunes to factory settings (Made a backup first. Very important if you can connect to iTunes, it's a MUST). When the phone booted-up again, I had to ''activate the phone. But to activate it, I needed a connection with a network. But that was the whole problem so I was stuck and couldn't do anything with the device.
So I called the Apple support centre. We tried a few things, they all dindn't work. The last option (which worked for me) was to do a recovery (I have no idea what this reset is called)  via the device+ iTunes.
To perform the reset, please follow these steps and hopefully it will work for you as well.
    1. Open iTunes
    2. Connect your USB cable to the computer, NOT to your device yet.
    3. Power Off your device, and be sure that it is Off.
    4. Press the home and hold it.
    5. Connect the USB cable to your phone. You will see a iTunes logo on your device, you can release the home button.
    6. Do a recovery via iTunes. iTunes will now recover the phone.
If it doesn't work the first time, try again. I had to do it twice and luckily it worked the second time.
I hope that this will help, Good luck!

  • Iphone keeps searching then appears NO SERVICE

For the last 3 days my iPhone 4 continues to search for service, then says No Service.
Have contacted my network carrier (Orange/EE) and there's no problem with the network and all 4 other members in my house have signal. So why is my iPhone doing this?
    Anyone else having this problem?

if that fails then it is a likely hardware issue
You will have carried out all the self help Apple would expect
If required take it to an Apple retail store Genius Bar and you can exchange
for a service replacement £119 over the counter or consider an upgrade with Orange

  • Iphone keeps searching

my iphone 5 is constantly searching and will not pick up a signal.  My other Iphone 5 sits right next to it and it can pick up signal and internet.  What can we do and what is going on.  Is this phone beyond repair or can we fix it here ourselves

This happens to me every now and them. It's a pain in the you know what!
Here's what you have to do to get your Yahoo email to work again on your iPhone:
    - Go to your Yahoo account via your computer.
    - make a new folder... call it "test".
    - move a bunch of your email from your inbox to this new "test" folder.
    - log out.
    - open Yahoo email on your iPhone.
    - check for new messages... after a few seconds, email should show up.
    - go back to your Yahoo email account via your computer.
    - move your email from the "test" folder back to your inbox.
    - you might want to delete some of your newer emails (one of those emails might be the problem.
    - all your email should now be visable in your inbox via your iPhone.
This has happened to me at least 5 times since I bought my iPhone. Doing the above steps "fixed" the problem each time. It was inconvenient when I was on vacation a couple weeks ago and didn't have my computer with me. I had to log on via the web from my iPhone (with edge) to move my emails.
Apple & Yahoo... please fix this problem.

  • IPhone keeps searching for network even w/o sim card

    Good morning,
my iPhone doesn't connect to my network anymore. I flew from Europe to the US a few days ago and it worked just fine in the beginning, but when I went on the subway and lost reception it didn't come back. A quick restart of the phone helped the first time. Now it happened again yesterday when I went on the subway and the reception hasn't come back since....
The Phone never asks me for the PIN if I restart the phone, even though it should and all it says is "Searching....", even if I remove the SIM it says "Searching..." instead of "No SIM".
I can still use Wifi though!
Here is what I've already tried:
Restarted the phone several times (both regular and the two-button way)
    Reset all settings
    Reset network settings (twice)
Switched airplane mode on/off several times (it was on for several hours over night)
I have tried a different sim card of a different carrier, so it's definitely the Phone.
I really want to avoid to delete everything. Does anyone have any idea how to solve that?
I appreciate any advice. Thank you in advance!

Next step is to back up and restore your software.

  • IOS 7.0.3: iPhone 5 keeps searching for a network without sim

    Hi there
I update my iPhone 5 from 7.0.2 to 7.0.3 yesterday.
Since then my iPhone does not care about the sim card.
I can remove the sim card and the iPhone keeps searching for a network.
Whe I insert another sim, the iPhone does not ask for a pin.
I did a iPhone Restore. Saddly the bug is still there.
My problem no is, I cannot activate my iPhone after the restore, because of the sim card problem.
Is there a simple solution, or shoud I go to an Apple Store?
    Thanks!

My solution was the Recovery Mode:

  • My iphone 4 keeps searching the software update

    Hi,
My iphone keeps searching for the software update if i tap on it.
    Whats up?

iOS 5 or later is required to be able to download and install iOS updates direct with the iPhone.
All apps, all paid and free apps include DRM protection that is tied to the iTunes account or Apple ID that was used to download the apps. App updates for all apps downloaded with your GF's Apple ID can be updated with your GF's Apple ID only.

Was your phone jailbroken or "unlocked" by someone other than the carrier it was originally locked to?
Sounds like you have a hacke/jailbroken phone.

  • My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?  Read more: My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list

My iphone 3g is keep searching for network, and the carrier unable to load network list , wat shall i do?

Yes, that kind of tallies with my experience ... after 3 days of useless iPhone 3G (BTW, killing 3G on the phone and relying on acquiring AT&T 2G didn't help, it still locked onto T-Mobile with the result that it was draining battery and rebooting frequently!), I ended up visiting the local Apple Store.
Although the visit was not to resolve the iPhone problem, whilst there I happened to cycle the phone and due to the store having a local AT&T cell, the strength of the local signal meant that I finally re-acquired a AT&T 3G signal ... once locked on again the phone was fine for the next day.
Nett outcome of this is that I would prefer to lay most of the blame for this debacle on the poor state of 3G support both by AT&T (and US carriers in general), maybe exacerbated in my case by two related events (the local DNC in Denver, which saturated local AT&T cells including 3G and a proliferation of v2.0.0 and v2.0.1 firmwares on iPhones in town, which dragged cell coverage into the weeds).
It would be nice for future sanity if AT&T and T-Mobile could at least resolve the ability to acquire/release the iPhone gracefully, otherwise I'll be very sceptical of travelling back to the US with only my iPhone, as a self-employeed consultant I can't afford to be out of touch for three days again!

  • IPhone 5 keeps searching for carrier.

I have an unlocked iPhone 5. I recently updated my iPhone to iOS 7 and now it keeps searching for carrier. What should I do?

Well, it seems the phone is working again now. I've tried to restore it several times (which didn't work) but after restoring it from backup (iCloud) the phone seems to work again.
It's not a real solution becouse I've tried to restore it several times without result. Very very very strange problem...

I can pair my iPhone 4 with my MacBook and my Macbook Pro but they will not connect. My iPhone keeps telling me it does not support this even with bluetooth turned on.The devices section keeps searching all the time. Is this an antenna problem? Or something else ?

Your iphone is right, it is not supported. The iphone's bluetooth protocols do not include file transfer, but are intendes only for headsets, stereo headphones, cars, and keyboards.
