My iphone nor ipad will sync since the most recent itunes update.

I made no other changes to my computer.  When I plug in the iphone or ipad the connection sound on my computer indicates it recognizes the product.  However when I open iTunes it does not see the connections.  Additionally the iphone and ipad open a window on the device that asks if this computer should be trusted.  I have never seen that before.  Any advice for getting connected again?  I'm trying to avoid uninstalling and reinstalling itunes.

It sounds like you can see your iPad or iPhone in My Computer, but not in iTunes. I recommend this article to help you get that working again, named:

If the issue persists, and you have already restarted the computer, and both devices, the next step will be to remove iTunes and its associated apps with either of these 2 articles depending on the version of Windows you are using:

    One of the new features on the iPhone 4 is Multitasking ; it lets you do multiple things at once. For example, while iPhone is busy downloading a movie from iTunes, you can switch to the Safari app and browse IMDb in the meantime. So there's no more waiting around.
    Each time you open an app and then press the home button, the app is still open. At the end, you may have too many apps opened at the same time.
    To close apps, double click on the home button. Your opened apps will appear; hold one of them, then click on the red close to close an app.
    Close as many as possible if you don't need them.

    Since the most recent Firefox updates, when I view these pages, which traditionally have a number of reader comments at the bottom of the Times' story (or at least a space to leave a comment), I can no longer see the comments. There's simply empty. blank space. I know that the comments are there; if I open Internet Explorer and log on to the same page, the comments are suddenly visible. I don't understand where this problem has come from. I haven't noticed whether I'm missing seeing anything on other websites yet.
    I also cannot post comments on other parts of the Times website; while the pages dedicated to story-specific reader comment seem to load correctly and the space to type my comment does appear, I can't actually submit the comment. Repeated pressing of the "submit" icon has no effect. Once again, this works normally in IE.
    For the record, in the past week, I have changed my computer's anti-virus software from McAfee to Norton 360. I run Windows XP. If there's any another information I can provide, please advise, as I vastly prefer running Firefox to IE.

    If it happens again then try to reload the website or clear the cache and the cookies from that website.
    Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache.
    * Press and hold Shift and left-click the Reload button.
    * Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)

    Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried, until the problem is resolved.
    Step 1
    Restart the router. Many problems are solved that way.
    Step 2
    Change the name of the wireless network, if applicable, to eliminate any characters other than letters and digits. You do that on your router via its web page, if it's not an Apple device, or via AirPort Utility, if it is an Apple device.
    Step 3
    Run the Network Diagnostics assistant.
    Step 4
    Back up all data.
    Launch the Keychain Access application in any of the following ways:
    ☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
    ☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
    ☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Keychain Access in the icon grid.
    Enter the name of your wireless network in the search box. You should have one or more "AirPort network password" items with that name. Make a note of the name and password, then delete all the items. Quit Keychain Access. Turn Wi-Fi off and then back on. Reconnect to the network.
    Step 5
    You may need to change other settings on the router. See the guidelines linked below:

    Step 6
    Make a note of all your settings for Wi-Fi in the Network preference pane, then delete the connection from the connection list and recreate it with the same settings. Select Join other network from the Network Name menu, then select your network. Enter the password when prompted and save it in the keychain.
    Step 7
    Reset the System Management Controller (SMC).

    I had problems with the Flash v.11.whatever recent upgrade so uninstalled it and installed v.10.3etc. It worked fine for all sites until the most recent Firefox update a few days ago (27th August, 2012?). Now Flash will not work on some sites e.g. UK's Channel 4 On Demand service. Other browsers work fine on same site e.g. Chrome.   • With Windows Vista, the most recent Itunes update 1/30/2014 has caused Itunes not to work, with a Mscvr80.dll not found error. Uninstalled all Apple programs, and installed fresh Itunes. Same problem. Tried to reinstall using an older install exe nogo

    Recent ITunes update has caused ITunes not to work. Tried uninstalling all Apple products and reinstalling fresh. Still doesn't work. Tried reinstalling from an old install.exe. Install went nicely but program won't start as it says it can't open the library file.

    Now that I have no way of accessing any of the products I have purchased from ITunes, I will most certainly never use ITunes again for any reason. Why throw good money after bad?  I will use another MP3 player that is not as cumbersome or proprietary.
    Lesson learned.

    Got a backup?
    One thing that might help, is to return the sidebar, if you haven't done this already.
    You can do that by clicking View >> Show Sidebar.

  • HT1222 I installed the most recent ITunes update after which Itunes no longer worked.. I received an error message   Error 7  Windows 193.  I did a system restore to eliminate the update.

      Apple support had not responded to my requests for clarification.  The update corrupted both ITunes and Office Outlook mobileme.  The error message when I tried to start up I Tunes was Error 7 Windows 193.  I un installed I Tunes and re installed the latest ver and encountered the same error message.  I finally did a system restore.  Was this a one time problem or is the update bad.  In over 30 years I'd never had a problem with any Apple update.

    I connect my iPad mini to a tv via a hdmi cable.  Since the most recent update for the iPad, it no longer connects to the tv with I plug in the cable.  The cable works for my iPhone and my husband's iPad (also an iPad mini).  Is there a setting that I need to change to fix this?
