  • IPhone not found in iTunes for Mac. Tried all of Apple's suggestions. Discoverable on Wifi (partially) and recognized as camera.

I have an iPhone 4S with iOS 6 beta 1 installed. 2009 MacBook Pro with latest Lion and iTunes software available at the moment (22nd June 2012).
iTunes won't find the iPhone unless they're both on the same wifi (I have wifi sync enabled). Syncing doesn't work very well on wifi though. iPhoto/Aperture find the iPhone as a camera and import/delete photos from it fine. I've tried many combinations of ports/USB cables but none works. I've followed all of the suggestions Apple gives. None worked. I know that iOS 6 is beta software, but I still can't figure out why this would happen.
I was wondering if any of you guys had any similar problem.
I believe the problem is related to my computer.
There's no Apple Store near me and I don't have an APP for Express Lane support.

Tim - were you able to get this resolved?  I have had this same issue.  Usually a full reboot helps but I have also been able to close down iTunes, open Activity monitor and kill the usbmux process and iTunesHelper process.  Then open up iTunes again.
I think, and this is only my opinion, that when iTunes is open and you close the lid (put it to sleep) the usbmux that it uses to sync over wifi gets funny when it wakes back up.
    Good luck!

  • Ipad not recognized by itunes for mac, I've tried updating itunes version, restarting, and all that apple support suggests. no luck

I can't get my iPad 2 to show in iTunes in my iMac. I have the latest version of iTunes, I've tried restarting my Mac, shutting down iPad, connecting with different USB cables, everything, but so far no luck. Don't know what else to do.

I restarted "ipodservice.exe" from the Windows Services control panel. It's one of the suggestions from the Apple website. I didn't try installing iTunes from the installation cd, I just downloaded the latest version from the Apple website. Maybe I should try that.
I have a Dell Dimension 1.6GHz Pentium-4 running Windows 2000. I also tried it on a Dell Latitude D610 laptop running Windows XP Pro, but it still doesn't work. I don't think we have the same problem. It sounds like your problem is with your computer, not your iPod or iTunes.

  • IPhone not recognized in iTunes for Windows Vista

So, I have the iPhone 4 and I have only synced it once in iTunes about 2-3 months ago. I went to sync it again and now iTunes won't recognize it as a device. I have uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and restarted my computer, checked my USB ports and my phone is fully charged and it still won't work.
    Anyone have any ideas?
    Thank you!!

    RogerioNT,
Which USB port are you connecting it to?
iPhoto will transfer over a USB 1.1 connection, and many hubs are USB 1.1. Try connecting the iPhone directly to the back of the computer.
    Hope this helps,
    Nathan C.

  • IPhone 5 stuck in recovery mode. Not recognized in iTunes for Windows

    Hi,
My iphone 5 stuck during update to 8.2. It is now frozen in recovery mode, showing a 'connect to itunes' screen. The problem I have is that (the recently upgraded to 12.0.1) itunes is not recognizing my device. I have tried all of the suggestions here: iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch not recognized in iTunes for Windows, to no avail. I have not removed iTunes and reinstalled to test that, as I am concerned this will destroy the backups of my phone - which I will now desperately need once the phone is recovered.
    Has anyone got any suggestions?
    Cheers

  • Iphone 6 plus not detected in itunes for mac

When I try to plug in my iPhone 6plus, it is not detected on iTunes for mac.  All the software is up to date (iOS 8.3 for iPhone and iTunes 12.1.2 versions).I have tried several USB ports, but no luck.  Under FILE/DEVICES, everything is in grey which means that I cannot do anything from there.  I have tried to uninstall itunes twice, restarted the computer and iphone and NOThing is working

  • IPhone not recognized by iTunes any more

    iTunes 9.0.2 on a 2006 iMac 2GHz intel duo running OSX 10.5.8
    iPhone 3Gs 32 gig
    iPod (5th gen)
3 external hard drives, all the iTunes library stored on a Mybook 1 TB Firewire drive plugged into iMac direct, not via a Firewire hub.
I plugged my iPhone into the Mac this am, tried to sync the iPhone and got an error message saying that something was wrong with my iTunes.
    Mac then froze.
Finally got the Mac back up after five attempts (eventually, had to unplug everything, including the mains to the iMac, plug in just the power, keyboard and mouse, press and hold power switch for 5 secs then plug in each extra drive when the Mac came back up).
Found something seriously wrong with iTunes as it wouldn't open when clicked on (Force Quit reported app frozen).
Deleted iTunes using AppZap then downloaded iTunes from Apple website.
iTunes now back up on iMac but can't find any of the music files (even when I carefully repoint the iTunes to the correct location for the iTunes library by iTunes/Preferences/Advanced then Change iTunes Media Folder Location). Each entry in the iTunes library now has a black exclamation mark against it,
Also, iTunes doesn't see my iPhone when I plug it in.
Also, when I plug in my iPod, get the error message "The iPod is synced with anotehr iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPod and sync with this iTunes library?"
    HELP!
By the way, I have TIME MACHINE running to a separate and dedicated HD. Can I not just "roll back" my iMac in the same way I could do with a PC, say selecting the iMac when it was last working fine (yesterday evening)??
Keeping fingers crossed and hoping for an answer....
    Chris

Rather than create another "iPhone not recognized by iTunes" thread, I'll add to this one. I have an iPhone 3G 8GB.
After going through those steps you listed, my Windows XP installation always reverts back to the old Windows Apple iPhone drivers which only sees it as a camera. I've had it set to only pull from the iTunes drivers by specifying "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install" in the Hardware Update Wizard. Windows still doesn't like the iTunes drivers stating "the specified location does not contain information about your hardware". This location is the same as you noted: "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\Drivers" which contains:
    usbaapl.cat
    usbaapl.inf
    usbaapl.sys
    All dated 7/22/2008.
My current drivers for the iPhone in my setup are still the MS drivers, version 5.1.2600.0.
    usbscan.sys
    ptpusb.dll
    ptpusd.dll
Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

I bought an iphone and synced it. When unplugging it, I realized all my apps I downloaded were gone off the iphone (I did find them in the itunes folder however) but the issue is, my Safari and my itunes program will NOT open. They bounce once and that is it, never opens. No errors, nothing. I have been going insane trying to figure out what the problem is. Anyone else have this issue?
