My iphone personal hotspot won't set up

I've watched videos and such and i can't get my iphone 4s 16gb to set up the hotspot. i have wifi and my bluetooth is on..

Natasha, I'll be happy to assist you with your mobile hotspot. It's a great feature of the phone and I want you to be able to use it. First, have you added the mobile hotspot feature for $30 to your account? Once this is added, you should have the option to turn on the mobile hotspot. Here is some additional info on the hotspot: http://bit.ly/uoS7ad.
Let me know if you are still having problems turning on the hotspot.

  • Resolved: iPhone Personal Hotspot Not working in iOS7

Im using iPhone 4 with iOS7.1, I had a problem with connecting iPhone Personal Hotspot to My Laptop using Wi-Fi/ USB. I have spent days figuring this out & Finally I found a way to resolve It. So I just sharing it here if anyone having same probe as me you can try this method to fix it.
This Method is Only People who couldn't Fix it in this Way, Please try this one before you continue this method. http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
    1. Download the Latest iTunes Version & Install It
    2. Now Un-Install Apple Application Support and Apple Mobile Device Support in your Programs
    3. Now Extract the Itunes Setup file (E.g: iTunes64Setup.exe) using 7-zip
    4. Install AppleApplicationSupport.msi (must be installed before AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi)
    5. Install AppleMobileDeviceSupport.msi (do not change the installation directory)
    6. Restart the Computer
    7. Reset Network Settings in your iPhone (Settings>General>Reset)
    8. Now Connect to Computer using USB or Wi-Fi. It Must be Work now! If not Just Reset All Settings in your iPhone. Now It will Work

same case for my iphone 4 GSM (Hong Kong), my personal hotspot works at ios 7.0.4 but fails at 7.1 as APN cannot be set as described above. Hope Apple Support can help. My Carrier is PCCW-HKT (Hong Kong), which is not a registered carrier

  • When connecting ipad to iPhones personal hotspot via wifi it is showin up as 2 connections when only 1 device is connected. Is someone hacking my phone?

When connecting ipad to my iPhones personal hotspot via wifi it is showin up as 2 connections when only 1 device is connected. Is someone hacking my phone? I only figured out I had a problem when my partner did the exact same set up and it showed up as only 1 device connected. I have changed the password and turned it off/on and etc. the really weird thing is now when my ipad is turned off and I turn my iphone personal hotspot on it shows up with 1 connection (when I don't have anything connected) for about 5 secs and then goes off and then 1 device connected for about 5 secs and then back off. This just keeps going on and off. What is going on. Could my phone have a bug or be hacked. Please help as it is kinda freaking me out. Thanks.

    Hello asrt17,
This may occur if your iPhone is connected to your computer via USB, as it will automatically share the connection via USB.
    iOS: Troubleshooting Personal Hotspot
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2756
When Personal Hotspot is enabled, your iOS device automatically shares your Internet connection with your computer when connected using USB.
Example: When you connect iPhone to your computer to charge or sync with iTunes. To avoid unnecessary data charges, turn off Personal Hotspot when not in use.
    Cheers,
    Allen

Maybe you are looking to re-purpose this equipment versus getting rid of it if so, the best thing to do is search the internet for tutorials.  And I say this because it's what I would do, there are a lot of tutorials online.    Hope you can find good use for them.  Worse case scenario if you can't find something right now, package them very nicely and when you come across something unbox and enjoy.  I've re-purposed a mac color classic and LOVE IT!!

  • MacBook Pro problem with iPhone personal hotspot connection

I think there is a problem with my airport, I can't connect to any iPhone personal hotspots anymore - I used to be able to connect to them, and now it connects but with an exclamation mark saying there is no internet connection? Any help would be great!

Apple doesn't participate here. If you want to give them feedback, use the Feedback page:

  • Can I use my iPhone personal hotspot with my PC?

Can I use my iPhone personal hotspot with my PC?

Turn on Personal Hotspot on your iPhone, and then look for your iPhone's name in your computer's Wifi network list and connect to it.
It works essentially the same as a regular wifi network.

  • HT4628 connecting to iphone personal hotspot

I was able to connect to my iPhone personal hotspot via wi-fi.  Now I can only connect via USB cable to my iPhone.  Any thoughts?

I have an update to this problem.
If I first connect to the iPhone's network using my iPad then subsequently connect my MBA to the network (I did this whilst the iPad was still connected to the iPhone), browsing works!
If I then disconnect both devices and reconnect just the MBA, I am back to square one - browsing doesn't work.
I have now posted this question in the Lion community too as I'm starting to think that this is more of a software issue.

  • Personal Hotspot won't work on MacBook (using iPhone 3GS bluetooth method)

My MacBook says that it is connected to my iPhone on Bluetooth and my iPhone 3GS says that it has one Personal Hotspot connection which was the MacBook but the MacBook has failed to connect to the internet even though my iPhone 3G was on, Cellular Data was on, Bluetooth was on and Personal Hotspot was on,
    Please Help me!

    Incorrect,
The picture on my screen says otherwise, the Personal Hotspot function on the iPhone 3GS is only either a USB connection or a Bluetooth connection, right now my Personal Hotspot is acting as a wired connection to my computer. iPhone 4 and 4S models can do USB connection, Bluetooth connection and Wi-Fi connection

  • Personal hotspot won't work

When I try to connect other devices to my iPad though the personal hotspot, it won't connect... It keeps asking for the password, but never connects... I reset my iPad, but it still won't allow others to connect.

Do you have a personal hotspot account with your cell provider?
When you activated the personal hotspot in Settings did you set a WiFi password?

  • 2011 air with iPhone personal hotspot

    Hi all,
I have got a 2011 Macbook Air 13" and an iPhone 4, both up-to-date with Lion and iOS versions.
I use the Personal Hotspot feature a lot. I have set it a a favourite Network on all my Macs but it does not behave 100% on the Air: with a Snow Leopard MacBook Pro and a 2008 iMac, when I enable Personal Hotspot, both machines find the iPhone stratight away and connect to it. However on the Air I have to always go into the WiFi menu and THEN it finds th iPhone. It does not do that, however, with other WiFi networks eg. my home Cisco router or AirPorts.
Any ideas? Perhaps a teeny Lion bug?
    Cheers,
    KW

Hmm... Seems that I am the only Community Member who use their iPhone 4 and tethering to the 2011 MacBook Air... I don't like being special!
Anyway - last week's Lion update didn't solve the issue so... any thoughts?... Anyone?...

  • X200 using iPhone personal hotspot failure

I've got a friend with an X200. He is trying to use his iPhone 4s as a  personal hotspot. The phone is set up correctly because we can connect to it using my laptop (not an X200). My laptop connects using WPA2/AES.
When we try connecting using Access Connections, the association fails. I tried all four modes WPA/TKIP WPA/AES WPA2/TKIP WPA2/AES. All failed. When I click on the help me fix this button and get the report here's the error and recommended actions:
    Connection status:        Disconnected
    Cause:        Association Failed
    Error code:        011
    Recommended actions:
Verify that the encryption settings (WEP/TKIP/AES) specified in this profile match those expected by the wireless network.
Verify that the wireless adapter in your computer has not been restricted from accessing the radio channels being used by the wireless network.
As I said, we tried all the encryption settings and checked the key several times. The phone is using channel 2.
    This is the Adapter info:
    Adapter Details
Adapter name        Intel(R) WiFi Link 5100 AGN
    Adapter type        Wireless LAN
    Adapter speed        150.0 Mbps
    Driver/Firmware version        12.2.1.2/ N/A
    Adapter status        Enabled
    Connection Status        Disconnected
    Disable unused cards?        No
The first fix I tried was to update the BIOS and Access Connections (5.85). Still wouldn't work and gave the same errors.
Any suggestions as to what to try next?
    Thanks
    Solved!
