My iphone randomly shut off. I left it in the car for less than two minutes and went to grab it and it was off. I tried to turn it on but it wouldn't.
I left my Iphone in the car for less than 2 minutes and when I came back it was shut off. Someone told me to hold down the home button and the lock button down for 10 seconds but my lock button does not work. I didnt drop it didn't get it wet it just stopped working. It was fully charged when this happened. I don't know what to do. i plugged it in and it was still a black screen, Help me please!
Dear Ashley - Y'day, I had the same problem. Before shutting off the phone vibrated for a minute or two and then the phone stopped working. I tried restart, charge all through y'day but it did not work. However, I left the phone without charging over night and tried today morning - luckily, it started and prompted me to upgrade to 5.1.1, which I did. I too have posted a question for help if there is some bug to fix. Hope your phone will also work again. All the best.

So I bought my wife our 1st iPhone 4S today w/ Verizon. I booted it up and it started having a voice repeat every command, and function (no, its not Siri).
BTW... Siri doesn't work, I can't scroll in the settings, when I open an app it actually opens the wrong app, and I can't find a way do fix any of it. I tried a hard boot by holding down the power button and the button on the lower midddle of the phone. When it rebooted, it got worse. Now what?

My 3GS iPhone randomly shuts off
My 3GS iPhone randomly shuts off or gives a low battery indicator even when the battery is not low. I tried going to the Apple store and they were not helpful saying to close out apps using the multi-task button. Even after doing that, my phone was continuing to shut down. First is was around 33%, then 54%, then 76%, then even at 97%. So I had the battery replaced with a brand-new battery.
Now not only does the phone randomly shut down saying a low battery, but it is not recognizing the charge on the battery. I had the phone on for six hours unplugged and it remained at 100% charge. Then I went to make a phone call on it and after two minutes the phone completely shut off. It would not accept a charge. I had it charge overnight. I tried using different cords. I tried plugging it into a USB port on a computer, using the wall charger, and a car charger. The phone kept saying the battery was dead. Then miraculously then phone started to work a day and a half later, but only for one phone call. Then phone died again and has not accepted a charge for two days now. You would think after two days, the NEW battery would be charged.
My phone is not under warranty. I do not have the funds to purchase a new iPhone at this time.I know there have been a lot of posts about this, but I have tried every concievable option out there and nothing is working. I'm frustrated. Is this an operating system error and can it be fixed? Or is the phone trashed? ARGH!!So Brad, just an update...
My phone periodically works and then it doesn't. The battery percentage indictator still continues to remain at 100% charge though I know common sense would tell me that the battery percentage would be decreased if the phone sat unplugged and on all day long. When then phone does work, I try to restore it, but iTunes keeps saying that there must have been a connection failure and iTunes had to stop downloading. FYI- I have no connection issues with my Internet.
Here is the weird thing...
Sometimes the phone is still showing the dead battery page and asking me to charge the phone. So I'll plug in the phone, let it sit charging for 4 hours, 12 hours, even days at a time... and it will continue to have the battery dead screen asking me to charge the phone. So then I will unplug the phone and leave it alone. After approximately 48 hours, I'll go back to the phone and hit the Home button and miracuously the phone would turn on. It is as if the phone is confused and the battery life is being drained when it is plugged in, but then miracuously recharges itself while sitting unconnected to any cords or plugs.
This makes no sense and I cannot explain it. I have waited to respond to your initial postings because I wanted to see if I could restore the phone. In addition, I wanted to confirm I was not crazy and that the phone is actually acting opposite what it should in reference to charging vs. non-charging.
Any idea why the phone is acting backwards in regards to the battery life? Since my last post, I've only been able to actually turn on my phone 3 times, literally once a week and then it only lasts for about 12 hours before dying on me again. -

My phone randomly shut off. When I turned it back on it said it needed to restore, to plug it into itunes. When I did, and tried to restore it, it failed with a code 21. I have followed all the instructions, it still isn't working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all that the steps told me to, I've updated everything in my computer. I don't know what else to do. My phone will just show the apple sign and the itunes plug in sign.

my iphone 4g just shut down. i was just using it a moment ago then when i saw it's already off. i tried to turn it on but won't budge. i attached it to charger but still not turn on.
Charge it for 15 minutes with the wall charger. Then hold the HOME and SLEEP buttons at the same time until an Apple logo appears.

after clicking "yes" to the question "do you want to update itunes now", i waited 2 hours and 15 minutes and it was still "loading". i turned computer off thinking something was wrong. now itunes won't open at all. do i need to download itunes again?
Did you actually download the installer from Apple or did you use Software Update. You can download the installer http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/
Maybe I'm old fashioned but I would consider repairing permissions first using Disk Utility because something caused this to go wrong the first time. And of course make a backup of your whole library first. It shouldn't happen but some have complained about their libraries being wiped out by iTunes updates. Better safe... -
i have had my iphone 4s for less than 3 months and i always have it in a protective case, recently my bluetooth that i use daily will not stay connected, my alarm clock will not ring, any suggestions on whats going on??
Basic troubleshooting from the User's Guide is reset, restart, restore (first from backup then as new). Try each of these in order until the issue is resolved.

My power button has been stuck recently (not a major issue) and my Iphone 4S randomly shut off without any damage or moisture and over half battery life. Plugging it in to the computer or wall doesn't turn it back on.
I don't know what to do. Any suggestions?This is very bad. It is very difficult to deal with problems without power button function. If there is Warranty or AppleCare make Genius reservation or set up service and take or send to Apple for resolution. If no coverage, clean iPhone charging port very well with toothbrush and Isopropyl Alcohol. If still nothing, next would be battery replacement. If still nothing, replacement of the charging port with flex cable and lower mic. And on and on. If you want Apple to handle this, they offer perfect replacement iPhone 4S for $199.

I tried a restore and it didn´t work out. The same problem just continued and i started using and old phone instead. A couple of days ago I read something about ios6, and I thought: Why not try it on my iPhone that I don´t use? I installed ios6 and since then the phone have worked perfectly, except for one single hangup but then it was just to restart it. Ios6 beta 2 is actully really stable. I mean, now at least it´s a fully functional phone. -

Iphone 5 randomly shuts off, now won't turn on or restore
Today my phone was working normal and then the screen went to these crazy lines and shut off. I was able to turn it back on, but it did it again and now I can't get it to turn on, even with a hard reset. I tried to restore it and got an error message (3004). Does anyone know how to fix this?
TIATry two steps below to fix iPhone 5 won't trun on problem:
1. Hold the power and home/circle buttons for 10 seconds to perform a Hard Reset.If that doesn't work, connect your phone to a computer with iTunes (where you back up your data).
2. Hold the power button for 10 seconds, then let go. Then hold the home/circle button AND the power button together for 10 seconds. Let go of the power button and keep on holding the home button. Your iPhone should display a white screen or your computer will prompt you and tell you that your phone is in recovery mode and to perform a hard restore (DFU Mode). In both cases, you should be able to restore the phone with your backed up data.

HT1430 iPhone randomly shut off, won't turn on even when charged?
So my phone was about 30% and it died when I was using it. My iPhone has a stuck sleep/wake button, so I can't reset it normally. I've had it plugged in overnight with my charger (which DOES work), but the screen is still black. Is there any way to fix this? :/ I currently have it plugged into my Macbook, but iTunes won't recognize the phone.
ONly way is to do a reset. hold down the home/sleep button together until you see the apple logo and then release, then wait for the phone to boot back up.
You'l just to have to keep trying until it works.
