My iPhone signal reads 3G while Settings says wifi is on?
My iPhone 4 automatically shut completely down to a black screen with an Apple about 3 hours ago. It came back on and seemed to be operating fine, but the main signal icon (the cell strength bars ATT then 3G or the wifi strength icon) reads 3G while the Setttings page for wifi says it has joined our password-protected home wifi. I tried some other local unlocked wifi networks and I could join and the wifi icon would replace the 3G on the front page of phone. When I went back to our signal, it again went to 3G on the front page while signalling on the Settings page that it was logged into our wifi.
The wifi is fine as I'm using it with my MacBook Pro to access this site now.
I reset the phone, I rebooted it 3 times and disconnected the wifi cables and reconnected the network. I also manually re-entered the passeord and it seemed to accept it. Any ideas?
I did the same. I have only Facebook, Twitter and Zite in my phone. It's worser than before I feel. Also I don't think the device works as designed. Wifi has better preference than 3G. My friends who uses 4S in Singapore (over wifi) easily getting 2 days of battery life. I charge this twice every day.
1 hour in the morning and 1 hour in the evening I use the device extensively over 3G (mostly read news) and almost all other time it's idles though it's connected to Wifi

i am trying to sync iphone 5 to itunes but it says "iTunes could not connect to the iphone as an error occured while reading from the device " and the iphone is not seen on itunes........
First thing to try is to reset your device. Press and hold the Home and Sleep buttons simultaneously ignoring the red slider should one appear until the Apple logo appears. Let go of the buttons and let the device restart. And then reboot your computer.
See if that fixes your problem. -
my ipad frequently says "I am not connected to internet" although it is and there is a good signal. after a while it connects regularly. what could be the problem?
You can try these things and see if it helps.
Tap Settings, then tap Safari on the left side. Then on the right side - tap clear history, clear cookies, clear cache. Clear all three. Reboot your iPad. Hold down on the sleep button at the top until the red slider appears and slide to power off. Then hold down on the sleep button until the Apple logo appears and the iPad will restart. Launch Safari and see if helped.
If that doesn't help, try this. Tap Settings, then tap General on the left side, then scroll down on the right side and tap Reset, then tap Reset Network Settings at the top. Reboot your iPad as described above. Launch Safari and log on to the Internet. You may have to enter your network password again when you reset Network Settings.
Renew the Lease in WiFi by going to Settings>WiFi>Network Name>Renew Lease. Reboot your iPad and try Safari again. -
I have a iPhone 5. In usage, it says i have 2.1 gigs used because of photos and camera. I have deleted all my photos via iPhoto and now reset the phone back to factory settings in order to try to solve this problem, to no avail. Both iTunes and the phone say that 2.1 gigs are being used, even though the phone now has nothing on it. What is going on?
Yeah it works fine over wifi the problem is when I try to use it over my 3G. It's really stressing me out now.

Have you already verified your "new" email address? If not then please check your inbox for a confirmation email (also the junk folder). If you do not have a confirmation email then please sign in at https://appleid.apple.com and press "verify" for confirming your email address.

since installing the latest update on my iphone 3gs this afternoon whatsapp now says it cannot access my photos. I have gone to settings-location services- but whatsapp is not listed in the list below. Please help!!!!

There is no logical expectation for Whatsapp to be listed under location services or for that to have any affect on what the app can access. -

Trying to update the software on my iphone 4. It stops and says, "An error occurred while backing up this iphone. -43. Would you like to continue? Continuing will result in the loss of content..." What should I do?
The first thing you need to do is (in the left side of iTunes, under devices) right click on your phone, and do a manual back up. As long as that works, this should work for you. After you back it up, go to your phone in iTunes, and do a "Restore". Click the option to restore and update. When it is done with the update, it will ask you if you want to set your phone up as a new phone, or restore from the last back up. Restore it, and after another restart, and a sync, you will have your updated phone without loosing your information.

Thank you for the note - I have seen similar replies on other posting errors and I see how that could make sense. The thing is, my iPhone is not jailbroken - it is from an authorized distributor. However, when I told them about the "no service" problem on the sim, they were unable to assist. Then my phone messaged that an itunes restore was required - so I did that, several times, to the error message now noted on my post. I wonder if there is some other way to over-write this message? Thanks very much. -
I'm trying to restore my iPhone 5 to the original settings because it did not sync my contacts from my last phone (it synced from my husband's phone instead). I am trying to delete everything so I can back it up from my previous phone and not my husband's. I keep getting a message saying that files were corrupt so it couldn't restore settings. Ideas?

TouchCopy tells me I have no photos or Video ad won't alllow me to copy any of the critical files e.g. Notes, Calendar, Contacts, Messages, etc.
Anyone have any other suggestions for backing up my iPhone? Or help using TouchCopy?
If I am ever able to get TouchCopy to work, should I be using Copy to iTunes or Copy to PC option?

i have a problem with my iphone everytime i tried to restore my phone signal keeps searching and eventually says NO SERVICE. this does not allow me to connect to itune or anythintg i connect to the wifi but afer 3minutes it says to try again i went to a iphone shop today and i sorted my phone when i tried to update it asked me to res tore first and now my phone is back to the first problem. please help me advise me whatto do

My youngest erased all content and settings on my iphone 4s (prepaid) and now it says it is not activated.I still have my account and number,but it says phone number unknown now.How do i fix this?.
If you haven't already tried, see if you can force it into recovery mode to restore it:
