My iPhone still restoring from iClouds ...

My iPhone still restoring from iClouds after updating to iOS6 and this have been for days. Is that normal? And how can it be solved?

Music is not part of the backup. Re-sync your music to the phone with iTunes. It should all be in the iTunes library on your computer.

  • New phone still restoring from iCloud backup

i have purchased a 5s four days ago, it's stating still restoring  from iCloud backup.
my old phone 4s I backed up to cloud wifi and launched new phone data through wifi as have no computer.  it won't let me access any apps or iTunes or complete iOS 8.3 until this is completed. Help please.

I finally got mine to work. I let the iphone run its course and it finally restored everything. I wanted to make sure I got everything back, but it didn't sync my non itunes purchased music, so I had to manually do that via the computer. By my estimates it took almost 80 hours, minus 20 of those spent at work and odd hours here and there when I wasn't connected to wifi. So about 50ish
It is frustrating though that it took so long. Apple needs to come up with a better solution in the future. I thought this problem was solved last year with the problems that plagued the ios7 update. It will probably only get worse since iCloud storage just got upped for everyone.

  • Can't upgrade to 8.0.2 because it says that is still restoring from iCloud. But it has downloaded everything.

Can't upgrade to 8.0.2 because it says that is still restoring from iCloud. But it has downloaded everything.

Just spent 4hrs, this morning with the same issue. I had to remove (1)itunes all together along with(2) apple downloads,#3) apple mobile devices, and finally (4) bonjour.
Once all these were removed. Then I had to reinstall itunes, then installed the 3.0.but, I lost a few of my icons. ie. settings. However, when you hit the bottom button after opening the home screen a keyboard pops up and I type in "settings" and was able to go there. I'm here trying to find out if that's the way it's suppose to be or what?
Good luck.. It just takes time...

  • Set up as new iPhone or restore from iCloud?

    Hello,
I have the iPod Touch 3G, 32 GB.  I hope to be getting the iPhone 5, 32GB in the next few days.
Just asking if I should set up as new iphone or choose restore from iCloud?
I do want my photo apps and photos to be saved/synched to my iPhone.
Which is the best way/right way to do this?
    Thank you!

    Hi Kappy,
    Thank you for your reply!
It is a must that I use iTunes to backup my iPod Touch?  I use iCloud for this now and would rather continue using iCloud.  Is this okay or do I change it now?
What are my first steps I need to do when I turn on the iPhone 5?  Besides a big smile and being happy.  lol
    Thank you!

  • HT204587 New iPhone 5 restore from iCloud

I just upgraded from an iPhone 4 to 5S, and the restore to the new phone from iCloud 20 hours now.  The iCloud setting says "This iPhone is currently being sestored ans will automatically back up when i is done."     How can I tell it's still running, and how long should it have to take?  Shouldn't it be done by now?

In order to restore from backup, you have to activate the phone first, did you do that?
Also depending on how much photos you have to transfer over it does take awhile hours or so.
How strong is your wifi connection?

  • I got a new iPad last month and set up through iCloud. Still have a message on my screen that it is still restoring from iCloud. How do I get it to complete other than having to rest me start again?

I Got a new iPad last month and sent up in the usually way and syncd to iCloud. However it has ever since shown a comment saying:
Restoring from from I cloud backup
i I have no idea how to get it to complete. Or do I need to re-set and start again?
    Help!

Where do you see this message? I know it can take a few hours to restore from an iCloud backup if you had lots of apps, data, movies, camera roll photos etc on it, but it should not take days and daus to finish.
Have you restarted or reset your iPad since you got it? Not the reset that you are talking about - I mean the system reset. Try either or both and see if the message goes away.

  • How long should Restore from iCloud take on iPhone 6?

I have just purchased a new iPhone 6 and after downloading whatsapp, the restore from iCloud function is currently active for 32060 messages and 3421 photos, but has been for the last 12 hours and is now frozen on 91%.
I am not sure how to access my whatsapp now as I cannot seem to exit the restore from iCloud function but it will not proceed forward with the restore.
Is there any way for me to resolve this?

    Hello Mark,
Thanks for using Apple Support Communities.
From your post I see you're concerned about the time for how long it's taking for your iPhone to restore from iCloud.  There's no set time for completion of an iCloud backup, as the time does vary based on how much content needs to be restored.
The restore process is taking a long time to finish
The amount of time needed by the restore process depends on your geographical location and the speed of your Internet connection. Even with a fast Internet connection, the restore process might take 1 to 4 hours per gigabyte to complete.
If you're traveling between countries, the restore process might take longer than usual. iCloud is tuned to provide the best service when you're in the geographical location from which you most frequently connect to the Internet. When restoring from an iCloud backup, iCloud is tuned to provide the best service in the geographical region you were in when you created the backup.

  • New ipod won't restore from icloud

If I set up my ipod as new, can I still restore from icloud?
I purchased a new ipod touch yesterday, and in the course of setting it up, it will not restore from icloud, so I thought I might be able to set it up as new and still restore from icloud once I got it set up, is this correct?  I would update from itunes, but my computer's operating system won't allow me to update to the newest version of itunes, so the ipod and computer won't "talk" to each other.

Do other devices now connect to the router OK?
Try the following to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router

    - Try on another network as Apple recommended.

  • HT201269 how do i restore from iCloud on new phone?

    I have a new 4s that I got from the AT&T store.
They got me up and running by getting my contacts downloaded.
Now I've hooked up to iPhone to restore from iCloud.
Do I want to restore or do I want to back up?
I can't figure out how to get my music to migrate to my new phone.
I have backed up my old phone to the cloud.
I don't seem to be getting the automatic prompts all the articles talk about and I think it's because at the store they only did contacts.

If you backup with iTunes and you restored from the backup and the data are gone, then there is no where to retrieve them from unless you have another backup that contains those data.
Launch iTunes on the computer and go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices. You will see a window with all of your backups listed in it.
If you see a recent backup that you are certain contains the data that you need, recover deleted data from iPhone backup.
If your note is gone from iCloud.com there is only a few ways to possibly recover it.
The first things I would check is a iCloud Backup, a iTunes Backup, or a 3rd party email that may have contained the note. To restore from a iCloud or iTunes backup follow this link. This article explains how to restore a device from either back up.
Note if you have backed up since the note went missing, you will not have the note on the backup. Make sure you do not back up if trying to restore from a back up as this will back up the content without the note.
To get to the "Set up assistant" on an iOS device, you must go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase All Content and Settings. Once the phone restarts, you will be at the "Set up Assistant"

You dont have any data on your phone yet right?
If you dont connect your device to the computer and
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least 15 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
after that click okay when it says itunes has detected an iphone in recovery mode. Then click restore
    after that try again

  • Iphone 6 been restoring from icloud backup for 9 days and still not finished?

I got my iPhone 6 on the 19th when it came out.  It's an ATT 128 gb model.  I started restoring from icloud backup on that Friday (9 days ago).  It still is saying it's restoring from backup. Daily it's asking me to delete the data or keep downloading.  This phone is for my business, so the info is very important.  I am also worried that all the things in the last week have yet to be backed up since then, because I can't back it up till the restore is complete. I also can't do the new software update 8.0.2.  I am on a fast WIFI nearly 18+ hours a day and I can surf the net just fine, but why is my restore from 9 days ago still not finished?

    Apple:
This needs to get improved. I had the exact same issue migrating my 5 and wife's 5S previously. It's never worked well. We need status bars, and indications of what has been copied, what remains to be copied, and ways to resume it and pause it without hoping it works and getting messages in the morning asking if you want to resume it, making you wonder if anything actually occurred overnight. The message doesn't pop up within 10 minutes of connecting to power and wi-fi so I have no idea how long it actually takes to come up.
It's unacceptable to think any device owner wants to roll the dice and hope they have all their data. We use these devices for our jobs and that data is critical for some of us. It's not all just pictures of the dog! Even though those are critical, too!! It would be different if this wasn't a known issue and the resolution wasn't so easy...get this fixed!!!

  • I restored my iPhone 5 to IOS 7.1 on computer and tried to restore from icloud back up. It says "restore completed" but Apple logo keeps popping up every 5 seconds. It restored only contacts and sms. I can access the phone but have to stop if logo pops

    Hello khanhlinh98,
I would recommend performing the following steps in order to stabilize your iPhone.
Will not turn on, will not turn on unless connected to power, or unexpected power off
Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see the battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen. Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.
My issue is still not resolved. What do I do next?

  • My new iphone 6 plus has been restoring from iCloud backup for days.  I do not have all my apps or music yet

my new iphone 6 plus has been restoring from iCloud backup for days.  I do not have all my apps or music yet.  How do I fix it?

    Hello Bernharp,
Thank you for participating in the Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPhone 6 Plus is taking a long time to restore from an iCloud backup. I can understand why you'd be concerned after several days of waiting.
This might happen if your backup contains a lot of content such as pictures or your Wi-Fi connection isn't consistent.
If the restore still hasn't completed, take a look at the information in the "Restoring my device from an iCloud backup is taking a long time" and "A message says restore incomplete or some items could not be restored" sections of this Support article:

Read another post in the forum about this and it appears this app also installs a profile with a proxy service that you will have to try and delete as well. Check that out.

  • TS4036 My old iPhone got damage and sprint changed it when I try to restore from iCloud I don't have the option to choose the latest back up instead it restored a version that is like 192 days old. How can I see the restore that I want?

    Hello
Today I got my iPhone 4s changed from sprint and when I enter my icloud information it gives me an old backup (196 days old) and I back up automatically all nights , there was no choice to select which one I wanted or anything. So I ended up loosing a lot of important information, all the pictures and everything that I did the past 196 days. I try to see if there is a place on the web that the back up data is displayed but I haven't found anything. I have a lot of important information on icloud, to the extend that I even pay for more space because I use the  iPhone as part of my work. Can someone please explain to me what has happen and if there is a way that I can recover my information? I am desperate it is very important. Thank you very much!
    Fransuas

Once in a while the restore process seems to mess up.  What I don't understand is why you would perform a weekly restore.
At any rate, if you must restore, perform a device reset (settings>general>reset) and then you will have the opportunity to restore from iCloud.  Restore a device whenever it no longer works correctly, not just as a matter of maintenance.  If it ain't broke, don't fix it.
