My iPhone suddenly shutdown due to no battery (but it was just at 41%)

The battery of my iPhone 5 became unstable after I upgraded to iOS 7. The calibration of the battery became  very bad.  At the one time, the battery can drop 11% in 1 second during use!!  At another time, it can rise 6% in 1 second when I was charging it.  In addition, after I fully charged the phone, the battery stayed at 100% for a long while and then started to drop fast - nearly 1% every 2 minutes when I was even using wifi (and I turned off the background sync, push email, system services, Apps auto update, etc.)
And, my iPhone 5 just happened to shut down herself when I was still have 41% battery. And I can't restart it because my iPhone 5 asked me to plug it to charge before it could have started!
Then after I found an external charge to charge my iPhone, it booted immediately, and,  phone shows 40% battery when it was booted!!!
Afterwards, I u unplugged the external battery and the phone worked fine the remaining of day without further charging (until it drops to 10% and I charged it).
Has anyone encountered similar problem? Thanks.

I'm having the same problem. Tonight my iPhone5 turned off at 30%. After about 20 minutes I was able to turn it back on and it showed 27%. Turned off again afetr about a minute and wants me to plug it in again as it has been since this started. It has happened several times, mainly the last two weeks. I am using iOS7.

    Sure you can.
You don't need to activate the phone service to use the iPhone.

You don't need a serial number to set it up or use it.

  • Sudden shutdown when working on battery mode, clock reset

    Hi
i am running windows 7 32 bit on an HP dv6970ej (dv6000) and my problem is sudden power failures when working on battery.
my first battery was worn out a few months ago and so I replaced it (with an HP original). it worked fine for a while but lately when I am working on battery mode the system shuts down with no warning.
the thing is that when I plug it back to the AC the battery is almost full - 85%-90% charged.
also - the last few times the power went down the clock was reset. i replaced the BIOS little battery but that didn't seem to make much difference.
i also tried to update the BIOS, didn't change anything.
the main issue of course is the system shutting down unexpectedly, while the battery is obviously still holding charge.
    any suggestions?

the clock reset is just a side effect of the main issue - system power failure. as long as there are no sudden shutdowns the clock is saved. plus i guess i am not gonna replace the whole motherboard so that's why i am less concerned about that.
what really bugs me is not having the ability to disconnect the computer from the AC for more that a few minutes. sometimes it shuts down after two minutes, sometimes after 10-15 min.
i am thinking- maybe it has anything to do with voltage drops or something like that or incorrect reading of the battery, because as i said - when i plug it back in - in indicates 80%-90% charge level.
I also ran a diagnostic on the battery's wear level. the old battery was definitely worn out, but the current one seems to be OK on that aspect.

  • Sudden Shutdown due to Overheating

I have an 2-3 year old hp dv7 (584037-001) that in the past week has begun to suddenly shut down--straight to a black screen, with a think/clicking noise that I guess is the hard drive immediately stopping.  After this, it immediately or soon will try to restart.  Every now and then, though, it fails, and crashes without a chance to really start up in the same manner as before.  I've been looking around on the forums a bit, and in my search to figure out what was wrong I ran several tests, including:
-Going into the BIOS and running system checks for the Hard Drive and Memory
-using the /sfc scannow function in the comman prompt to check files (I'm sorry I don't know more about this to explain it in more professional terms)
All of these tests have passed or come up clean.  I noticed after a while this week that it nearly always crashed during intensive processes, specifically quite soon after the fan began seriously working.  I found this very odd, however, because up until this point my computer has been capable at running at much higher temperatures for much longer times; the change to this problem was very sudden.
I should note that my original main fan broke down a few months ago, and I replaced it right away.  Even after the replacement I still received error messages at startup because something was apparently wrong with the fan, but I was told by the people who did the replacement job that this was normal, and beyond that everything seemed to be in working order until this week.
The final piece of information I have comes from an experiment I ran today--I intentionally used a program (minecraft, a game) that I knew would normally require the fan to run at full power, all while monitoring the internal temperature via the Speed Fan program.  The apparent temperature of my core processors pretty quickly shot up from around 50 C to 80 C, and just as the fan began to kick in the computer crashed.  What's strange is that I am in a rather cold room, and more importantly my computer felt much cooler EXTERNALLY than what it was capable of running smoothly on a week ago.  This has been true all this week as well.
Obviously I think something's either wrong with the fan, other temp-control measures within the computer, or the computer's thermometers, though I don't know what and realize I could be totally wrong.  I'll happily supply any additional information anybody would like about the laptop in order to figure out what's going on and what my options are.  Please let me know if you have any advice or ideas.  Thanks!

  • HP Pavilion g6 Notebook - Sudden shutdowns without warning when battery is low

My notebook is only ten months old. Within the last week, it started shutting down unexpectedly when the battery was low (but not at a critical level). If I try to restart it, there won't be a response until I plug in the adaptor cord. Usually there will be around 20% of my battery left when my computer is booted up after such a shutdown, so I don't think it's because of my battery being low. (Besides, when I've accidentally used my laptop until it has to hibernate, the light next to the port for the adapter cord usually blinks to tell me it's the battery.)
Initially I thought it was a problem with overheating, so I cleaned my vents and bought an external laptop cooler when it first shut down unexpectedly two weeks ago. However, the shutdowns have become more frequent since then. I've run the Memory Diagnostic Tool, the HP Battery Check, and updated my BIOS. No problems have come up; in fact, everything seems to be running perfectly. I also ran AVG and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. No problems there either.
What could be the problem? Thanks for any help!
Product name: HP Pavilion g6 Notebook PC

Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit Service Pack 1

Mines started doing exactly the same! Its just 12 months old though and hardly ever gives me a low battery warning. Then it will turn off without shutting down the proper way. When I plug in and turn back on, the battery says its at 20-25%
Is there actually a solution to this and whats causing it?..because if it's the battery then **bleep**..they don't last long.

  • Sudden shutdown of MBP while on battery power

I have started experiencing sudden shutdowns after being on battery power for 15 minutes. So far this has occurred while using Safari and Photoshop CS3. When I have checked the system log file, it has indicated "Previous shutdown cause: -103"
I have searched the web for this code and not found it yet - does anyone have an idea as to what this could refer to or what the issue might me? this is a 2008 MBP (purchased in August, 2008)

Those figures actually look fine, ze red baron.
At a maximum capacity of 5315mAh it is still at around 95% of original maximum capacity. Very different from what I expected when I wrote my earlier post!
It is possible that the figures are somewhat misleading if you haven't calibrated it in recent times, though. See http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1490 for the process.
You should also reset the SMC - see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964.
Remove and replace the battery, too.
I am wondering, though, if the battery is as good as the figures currently indicate, whether something else may be involved here. Has it ONLY shut down when using the programs you refer to, or is happening generally, regardless of what is running?
    Cheers
    Rod

  • IPhone 5 screen wearing off and battery doesn't work properly.

I've started having this issue almost from the start. It's wearing off from the bottom right side of the phone and even my battery drains faster + the bar shows wrong percentage. My phones warranty is also void now + I couldn't take it to the Apple Store for replacement cause there's no Apple store in my country. anyway my bro is going to Norway after 2weeks so he'll take my phone to the Apple Store to see if they'll fix it for free or replace the device. Do you guys think if they will resolve the issue?
If not i don't think ill buy anything from apple again, my friends also had this problem But if they do resolve it i will be really greatful of them.

First, the phone can only be serviced in the country where it has been bought. And, given the age and use of the phone, it might be time to get the battery replaced by Apple or an Authorized Apple Service Provider. If your device is out of warranty, Apple will not replace it for free, you'll have to pay the Out-Of-Warranty-Service fee:
