My iphone switches from the carrier network to no service. What can I do?
I have a brand new unlocked Iphone 4s. I took it to my carrier, T Mobile, to activate the sim card. The phone now will fluctuate between T Mobile and No Service. I have read that something may be wrong with the antenna. Any suggestions? If the phone does not improve by Mon. (3 days from now), I am taking it to a repair shop.

There are 3 possible causes for this message:
1] activation server is down. Very rare occurrence but does happen.
2] iPhone is jailbroken or hacked
3] computer on which the iTunes is trying to activate the iPhone has been
used to hack or jailbreak iOS devices.
In scenario 1], retry the activation. If the server were down, it would be up in short order.
In scenarios 2] & 3], you are on your own. Google may provide some direction. Terms of Use
for this forum prohibit discussion of hacked or jailbroken iPhones. -
I can't remember my security question's answers and I can't change them, and I wanna buy something from the store, it requires those answers, what can I do??
If you have a rescue email address set up on your account then you can try going to https://appleid.apple.com/ and click 'Manage your Apple ID' on the right-hand side of that page and log into your account. Then click on 'Password and Security' on the left-hand side of that page and on the right-hand side you might see an option to send security question reset info to your rescue email address.
If you don't have a rescue email address set up then go to Express Lane and select 'iTunes' from the list of 'products' in the middle of the screen.
Then select 'iTunes Store', and on the next screen select 'Account Management'
Next choose 'iTunes Store Account Questions' or 'iTunes Store account security' (it appears to vary by country) and fill in that you'd like your security questions/answers reset.
You should get an email reply within about 24 hours (and check your Spam folder as well as your Inbox).

I am with AT&T, but this person is on West Central Wireless in Texas. Is it possible to change this iphone 4s to work with all features, including data?
The process is contact the current network supplier .
Ask IF they offer unlocking.
IF yes request the unlock and pay any fees requested.
Your network supplier then contacts Apple to request the White listing (Unlocking) of your phone on the iTunes servers.
Apple do this -It takes anything from 3 days to several weeks to complete.
On completion Apple confirms this back to your Network supplier (NOT YOU)
Your network supplier contacts you via email or SMS inviting you to connect your iPhone with your computer via the supplied USB cable and launch iTunes and follow on screen prompts through to the "Congratulations your iPhone is now unlocked" screen.
All these steps need to be carried out with the ORIGINAL SIM and by REGISTERED account holder used when setting up the phone.
Once the Congats...... screen has been reached you can swap out the REGISTERED SIM and replace with a compatable SIM on another network.
CAVEATS
Only the original SIM and Account holder can initiate an unlock- If you bought the phone used/second hand you CAN NOT UNLOCK through official routes
Once unlocked use of a Mobile Virtual Network SIM may result in difficulties sending SMS messages.
You may have to go into Setting /Network/Cellular/Cellular Data Network and enter the correct settings manually.
Further caveat Cellular Data Network menu is SIM card dependant if its not supported you CAN NOT change the settings manually then you may need to contact the SIM card company - They can send a setup SMS if they support this process.

How do I get my contract free iPhone unlocked from the first network it was connected to?
My husband bought me an iPhone 5 from Carphonewarehouse Wharehouse which was contract free. I then signed up for a sim only contract from EE but was miss sold a service which they do not provide so I have now cancelled that contract. When trying to buy another sim from another provider, the phone is locked to the EE network for which they say I have to contact Apple directly to have the phone unlocked? I have been back and forth on this one and it seems now that my wonderful Xmas present is rendered useless....because it seems that it cannot be unlocked! Does anyone have any ideas how I can solve this?
Apple can you help because I have no idea where to turn to now?Apple has a extensive list of every iPhone that was made and each phone has its own number. On each number is a code that locks the phone to the service provider. The only way that Apple can change the code to your phone is if it is authorized by the service provider. So you will have to go back to EE and ask them to unlock your phone, and this will probably have an accompanying fee for unlocking as most providers do.
The strange thing is that you bought your iPhone unlocked and it managed to become locked during this process. You should have just been able to put a sim card in from one company and then just put another in from a different without any issues.
When dealing with EE make sure to raise that point if they try to charge you with an unlocking fee.
Unfortunately Apple is not in a position that can help you, they will probably tell you to call your service provider. -

My daughter shares an Ipod account with me and it has worked fine for years until recently. All of my music and playlists have vanished and only hers remain. When I plug my Ipod in a window pops up stating my ipod is linked to a another Itune account and I can either erase and sync or copy purchased music over. I have never started a different Itune account and most of my music is collected from CD's that are not saved to my computer. How do I keep my music and still be able to add more?
You need to sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud and sign back in again with the new password

Take your phone to an Apple store and they will replace it with one that has a working lock button. You can temporarily set the autolock time to zero and the idle time as low as it will go.

Switching From The Original BlackBerry Storm to Droid X
Ordered my phone through Verizon on 8/25. My X is expected to ship by 9/9. Anyone else switch from the BB Storm? If so, what should I expect from the X? Is there a big difference?
FWIW, I absolutely loath the Storm. It's the worst phone I've ever owned. So, I'm expecting/hoping for a lot from the XMy wife and I also went from BB to Droid. She got the Droid 2 (Came in day after I ordered on the phone) to replace her Curve and I got the X (arrived two weeks later) to replace my Storm 1. What a difference! Here's the rundown of what I see different so far (had it for just over a week).
1. Fast! Everything is fast. Browser loads pages several times faster than the Storm. Scrolling, pinch to zoom, and every other aspect of browsing is amazing in comparison. I used to dread getting on the web with the Storm and would prefer to wait till I could get to a computer. Not any more! Switching apps is equally speedy and multitasking is awesome.
2. Much better memory management. I had quick pull on my Storm scheduled to reboot every morning and was still getting slow and hourglasses by early evening. I haven't had to reboot my X yet for slowdown. I also have tons more apps installed. I was down to only a few apps on my Storm to free up as much memory as possible. I just keep downloading more on my X with no problems.
3. The screen does take a little getting used to. I was in the habit of letting my finger rest on the screen to keep it on with my Storm. It can be pretty sensitive for typing as well. I get a few extra letters here and there but I'm getting better. (Using swype helps alot).
4. Did I mention it's fast?
5. Battery life is about the same. Except I am still playing with the X alot more.
6. I wasn't a big business user and already use gmail for my personal email, as well as google calendar. I had google sync on my Storm so the transition was easy there. My wife does use a pop account for her work email so it is kind of a bummer that it isn't push like the BB, but she's ok with it. Switched from using BB Messenger to Google Talk with no problems either. If you have a big list of contacts in BB Messenger, keep an eye on an app called CrossTalk that promises to be able to send BBM messages from Android phones.
7. Kinda bummed there isn't a unified inbox like on my Storm, but having everything show up in the notification drop down is just as good.
8. It's fast, even without battery pulls! -

It sounds as if you had a device that was jailbroken/hacked to operate on your carrier. Upon updating the iOS, it is now locked back to the original carrier the device was locked to.
Only the carrier the device is locked to can authorize an unlock. You will need to make contact with that carrier and see if they provide unlocking services, and if they do, if you qualify for an unlock. Otherwise, you are out of luck. One that carrier can take care of the unlocking. -
I live in Saudi Arabia and intend to buy an iPhone 5 (unlocked version) from U.K. I want to know, would it be possible to claim warranty from the local network operator which is the official Apple iPhone seller i.e. Mobily. Would they repair/replace my iPhone 5 ?
You would need to return to U.K. for warranty service. The iPhone warranty is not international.

what can in do?Well unfortunatly that advice does not always work. I bought a unlocked iphone4 from apple several years ago and went to att on a no contract basis. Six months later the phone crashed while updating the operating system. Apple replaced the phone with a new one. All is fine till I got a iphone5 and gave te phone to my cousin. The phone is now locked to att but att says the IMEI number is not a valid ATT IMEI and therfore cant unlock it. Apple says there is nothing They can or are willing to do so now I am stuck for a 600.00 phone that can't be used.
If anyoun knows a way naround this situation mI would appreciate a heads up. -

It looks like the iPhone is locked to a carrier that is not the one you are trying to use.
You need to determine which carrier it is locked to and then contact them to see if they are willing to authorise the unlocking of your iPhone. As ManSinha mentioned, many carriers will only authorised the unlock if requested by the customer who had the contract with them for this iPhone.
Remember that only the carrier who owns the lock on your Iphone can authorise Apple to unlock the iPhone in their servers. You need to contact the carrier or have the previous owner of the iPhone request the unlocking.
