My iPhone vibrates while I am on a call if i get a msg/ alert/ email.

How can I disable that? It's super annoying and loud..hurts my ear.

This sounds like something specific to your cellular carrier or plan options -- some offer a voicemail to email option for example. If you are actually hearing the words "email waiting" when you place a call, I would contact the carrier.

Hi, I just recently both my iPhone 6 while in Dubai and when I got home to Malta I realised FaceTime doesn't work. I have done a software reset but it didn't change anything. Is there another way round this and why are they not informing people that it's banned there so this can happen.

FaceTime is banned from phones made for the Dubai market. There is no way to add it.

now I have read that i can create separate apple ids for everyone and keep them separate from my iphone but linked to my itunes acct...

I wasn't receiving any text messages once I updated to iOS 7. I received messages only from iPhone users.
I called AT&T this morning. Turns out, the update cancelled my text messaging plan.

Disable sound and/or vibration while in Messages app?!

I would like to know is there some option in the iOS where I could disable sounds and vibration while I'm using Messages app (app is open and the display is turned ON and I can see the message I recieved). This is very annoying when I'm using iMessages and getting a message every few seconds and then my phone vibrates constantly. It is of course OK if I'm not in Messages app but when I'm already using it I don't need a notification I got a message when I can see it for myself.

I'm having the exact same problem. I get a random text message ding for no discernible reason at least oncer per day. No alerts from apps, no email, no texts, no missed calls, no voicemails. It's not changing connection types between wifi, 3G, and edge. I know that the first gen iPhones sometimes dinged in that situation. If anyone knows what's causing this I would love to hear it.
Just to be clear I'm using a perfectly normal, not jailbroken, iPhone 4 running the latest software version.

IPhone vibrate switch mess up

when I have the phone in or out of vibrate mode, it will turn the vibrate mode on and off constantly. It doesn't do it all the time, but I can't have it switching from non vibrate to vibrate while I am in classes, or work. I will turn it off... Sometimes that helps, other times it won't. What should I do? Will they give me a replacement? Thank you in advance!

iphone has a one year warranty. If your iphone is not working properly, make an appointment with your local Genius Bar or call 1-800 My iphone to arrange for repair/replacement.

I recently bought a new Iphone 5c , it's my very first Iphone, I've always used iPod Touch (by preference). I have a couple of questions concerning the vibration mode on the Iphone, which I can't get it to work as I wish.
My issue is that the iPhone vibrates each time I receive a message while in a conversation on iMessage and not when I receive an alert (from the same iMessage app). I find the vibration annoying (specially in silent settings) and kinda battery wasting, because I use iMessage a lot, and each time I receive a message while in conversation, it vibrates. Is there any way I can keep the alert notification sounds and turn off the vibration at the same time?

I already did that and it keeps vibrating everytime I receive a message while on iMessage, that's one of the reasons I came here to ask for help, I have difficulty trying to make it work properly. Any other solution?

I have a small problem with the AudioServicesPlayAlertSound. When I play the audio, the iPhone also vibrating in addition to playing it. What I do is, I call the AudioServicesPlayAlertSound and than do some view animations.
Here the code snippets I using for playing the audio:

Well, I should have read the documentation more careful. The vibrating is a 'feature' of the AudioServicesPlayAlertSound if the iPhone is setup to vibrate while playing alerts.
I'm using now AudioServicePlaySystemSound instead and it works great.

IPhone "Vibration of Death"

Add me to the list of users suffering from what I've decided to call the Vibration of Death, in a nod to the evil MS (Blue Screen of Death). Last night, after I disconnected my wife's phone from her computer after syncing was complete, the screen went black and the phone began a continuous vibrate mode - not like an incoming call, but a constant single non-stop vibrating (insert sophomoric joke here). No soft or hard reset would stop it, no connection to computer, charger, etc.
The solution? Let it vibrate for several hours until the battery died. Now that it is recharging, it seems to be working. However, given that 1) it just suffered fifty years worth of vibrating in a single night, 2) there's no telling what kind of damage to the battery (the phone became very hot) or the innards, and 3) I can't have my wife have a phone that may randomly become unusable for 4-6 hours, it goes back to the store for replacement tomorrow.
I've seen several references to this issue on the web (though there never seems to be a common trigger), but no references to any acknowledgement of it from Apple. I'll give an update after my visit to the Apple Store tomorrow.

I've had my phone for about 2 weeks now. While it was on my desk and I was not even near it, it started this continual Vibration of Death, just as you described. I heard the vibration and didn't even know where it was coming from at first. The screen was dark and pressing either button did nothing. The battery wasn't low, but I decided to plug it in just in case. This did nothing. It continued to vibrate, while screen was dark. Finally, after holding both the home and power buttons together for at least a minute, the phone restarted and seems to be working okay. If this is a sign of things to come, I'm pretty bummed. Never had this problem with my 1st Generation iPhone. On a side note, I am missing the old OtterBox case that protected the speakers/mic of the 1st gen, whearas the new defender by Otterbox for iPhone 4 costs the same but has less coverage.
