My iPhone was downloading iOS8 and it has been frozen on the loading screen for 5 hours, I have plugged it into my iMac but the iMac can't cancel the download without me typing in my password on my phone, which conveniently isn't working
It won't power off or on or anything, it is just stuck on the white background with black apple sign!!

I know it can be frustrating when you run into issues updating to the new iOS. In your specific situation, I would recommend placing your iPhone in what is called recovery rode and restore it from there. Without a working lock screen button, you'll probably have to wait for the battery to go dead. Once it doesn't wake up by pressing the home button you can plug it into a charger and it will eventually reboot.

Restored in itunes again and hooked back up, just hooked up my wifi settings and manually rebooted. Same thing got stuck on the apple logo. What to do?

Hi, I was using my iPod Touch and then all of a sudden, the screen went black. So I held the on/off button and menu button to reboot it. So it turned off then back on but it has been stuck on the loading page for an hour. What's wrong with it?

I have no clue what I'm doing. I held the home and lock button and ignored the slide to power down screen. Now my phone has been locked on the apple logo for two hours. I've tried hitting both buttons in all combinations. I had nearly a full battery before this fiasco. My phone is fully updated. Help me please?

So on my MacBook Pro, a friend tried signing into the guest account. It's been stuck on the loading screen for 3 days and hasn't let me cancel the request and login to the original account. What can I do?
Hold the power button down for 10 seconds. It will power down your Mac. You can then start it up again and see if you can log in normally.

i plugged up my phone and it said i needed to restore it to factory settings so i did and now its stuck on a screen that shows i need to plug my phone up to itunes and restore it but my phone is already connected to itunes. ive tried resetting my phone and it just goes back to that screen and i have also tried to unplug and plug my phone back but it still keeps getting stuck at the 'preparing iphone for restore' bar thing at the top. how long is this process supposed to take? i was only trying to put one song on my phone and i had done it yesturday with no problem and the day before that. please help
I had this issue also. My last restore took 2 hours, despite restores under 1.x taking something like 20 minutes.
I don't think it's the videos/podcasts, as those don't show up until synchronizing after the restore anyway.
I asked this same question a while ago, but no one responded. I'm not sure if its normal. -
I Am updating my 5s to the new software Using my laptop. In doing so it seems stuck on step 6 of 6. I just don't know if this is normal to take so long or I need to start over, restore, etc.

I've had my new iPhone 6 Plus for about a month now and I'm just now syncing it with my computer to put music on it and it has been on Step 5 of 5 for hours now. I have reinstalled iTunes to see if that was the problem with no luck.
All it says is "waiting for changes to be applied".

Hi Risdian, thanks for the comments and suggestions, however none seemed to lead to any success. When setting the carrier off automatic, after a few seconds of searching the device returns the message, "Unable to load network list", and I have placed my sim into another unlocked iPhone 5 and it worked perfectly, picking up service almost immediately. I can also iMessage and connect to wifi fine, so i don't fully understand the issue.
I guess my iPhone is in need of repair, so if there are no other conceivable 'at home' fixes, i'll have to bring the phone to the apple store for a diagnosis. Any other suggestions or comments would be happily welcomed
