Thank you for the question. It sounds like there is no sound with an incoming phone call or text. Have you checked to see if Do Not Disturb was accidentally enabled? You will see a "moon" icon in the status bar if it is enabled.
You can disable Do Not Disturb in Settings > Do Not Disturb or in the Control Center as described in the following articles:

IPhone will not ring if locked even when Do Not Disturb is not on. Even when the sound toggle on the side is not red. This problem occurs regardless of whether it I have Do not Disturb on (manually, or scheduled) or COMPLETELY OFF.

I've tried wiping the phone and reinstalling from a saved copy but of course the problem comes back because the problem is inherent in the save. There are two options under "Silence" at the bottom of the Do Not Disturb preferences. "Always" or "Only when iPhone is locked". Those are the only two options and I want neither. No amount of deselecting will work. It forces you to pick one.
Does anyone have a solution given that I've better explained the problem?

The settings at the bottom of the Do Not Disturb page do not matter if you have the switch for Manual turned to off, or the Scheduled turned to off.
When the phone is unlocked, if you try to raise the volume of the ringer, what do you see on the screen? Does it say ringer, do you see the word headphones anywhere?

Call your wireless carrier. I had the same issue once. the problem was on their end.

I had exactly the same problem. Only soultion is to either wait for the next update, which may or may not fix the issue, or do like I did and take the iphone back to the AT&T store and pay the exchange fee of $30+ bucks and get a new iphone. You could also send it back to Apple to have them repair it. This simply cannot be fixed any other way.

i have reset my iphone 4s 3 times now and once we reset and cleared the whole phone because I was not receiving calls. it would go right to voicemail and the phone would not even show that a call came in. I have never heard of such a thing, so I don't know what they are meaning. Unless...is it perhaps that your Z10 is locked to a different carrier than you are attempting to use, and it's rejecting the SIM when you insert it? If so, that should present a message on screen though, and you've not said anything about that.
You can check the locked status of your device via:
Settings > Security and Privacy > SIM Card
If the bottom three sections on that screen all say "Unlocked", then you are good to go on any compatible carrier (each specific model BB is compatible only with a subset of all carriers in the world, but I don't know what you have nor what your carrier requires).
If any of those say locked, then that might be what this electronic repair person meant...you'd need an MEP code to unlock the device from it's originally manufactured-for carrier. You normally obtain that code from that original carrier, but each of them have their own rules about giving those out. Otherwise, you'd have to seek a fee-based service to provide the code (there are several on the Internet, and I have no recommendations for you).
Anyway, with the information you've provided, those are my guesses...with more information we might be able to guess more accurately.

After updating my iPhone with the 5.0 revision, my phone ceased to ring. All my settings seem to be proper and the ringer volume is set on top level.

I know it must be frustrating when you iPhone will not ring when you have an incoming call. The first thing I would suggest as far as troubleshooting would be to check the ring/vibrate switch on the side of your iPhone, just above the volume buttons, to make sure the ringer isn’t silenced. If the ringer is not silenced, continue to read over the information in the attached article to troubleshoot your iPhone sound.

My iPhone 5 will not ring when my phone number is called.

Despite the "Silent" button on the side of the iPhone 5 being set to off, and the ringer turned on full blast, my iPhone 5 will not ring when any number calls my phone. This is not an issue with the settings, which are all set for the phone to ring. Has anyone else run into this problem, or may have a solution besides taking the phone in for repair? My phone is no longer covered under the one year limited manufacturer's warranty, so any repair is likely going to cost a minimum of almost $300.

My IPhone 3gs will not ring on incoming calls. Rebooted phone, did hard reset and nothing works. Volume is up and phone is set to ring.

First check to see if you have your phone on slient if its not on slient then theres a problem. When you had jailbreaked your iphone it messed up your system and what I would suggest is that you go to a Apple store not AT&T but "Apple" and tell them your problem then they will replace your phone like they did to mine when my sound was not working as well. I had the the no sound issue also on my iPhone. I found this trick to solve the problem and it give back all sounds on any iPhone.
1- Go to Settings
2- General
3- Scroll down to : Accessibility
4- Select Assistive touch (for more information about Using AssistiveTouch on your iOS device : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5587)
5- If the "White dot" doesn't appear - Click 3 times to the home bottom and you should get the "White dot" somewhere on your iPhone sceen (you can move the "White dot" where you want on the screen of the iPhone)
6- When you get the "White dot" - click on it
7- You will have 4 icons, click on the device icon
8- Click volume up (be sure the volume is at the maximum)
9- Click on the little bell (make sure the bell is not muted - I found, it's not very clear whic bell is on or wich bell is mute)
10- Call your iPhone - the problem of no sound should be fix (if the problem is not not fix be sure the volume is up and the bell is not muted - select the other bell by clicking on the bell - call again your iPhone - the problem should be solve and it should work)
11- If you do not like to keep the "White dot" on your iPhone screen - click 3 times to the home bottom and the "White dot" should disappear (if you want it back - click 3 times to the home bottom and the "White dot" should be back)

Did you check the side control and make sure it isn't on mute. Up for ringer down for mute.
