My iPhone will not sync with new computer... old computer stolen!!

I have a new 27" iMac and when I try to sync through iTunes it only prompts..'I will lose all data if I sync with current folder'
Has Apple not thought about the fact if someone has a computer stolen they are unable to transfer old data to the new
computer? This is frustrating... any help and direction would be great! Thanks in advance.

You'll need to connect the iPod Touch to your iTunes library in recovery mode and restore it factory settings.  There is no other way.
Here are instructions for getting your iPod touch into recovery mode.

  • HT1296 I updated my OS X to 10.6.3 now my iphone will not sync with my computer.  What do I do?

My iphone 4S will not connect with my Macbook Pro since I updated to OS X 10.6.3.  It says it is waiting for the computer to be available.

Did you update iTunes before this problem started? Maybe a security software conflict was created when you updated iTunes. If not, you may need to update iTunes for it to recognize the iPhone, since it was updated.
An easy thing you can try is restarting the iPhone. You can also try testing with another USB adapter cable.
And, Apple has a helpful doc here -> iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows

  • HT1296 my iphone 5 will not sync with new computer

I have been having issues in syncing my iphone 5 with my new desktop

Close iTunes. On your phone, double tap the Home button to bring up the multi-tasking bar, tap & hold any app until they all start to wiggle & a red minus sign appears. Tap the red minus sign to remove every app shown. Tap Home button when finished. Re-start your Mac, launch iTunes, connect your phone. See if things work now.

  • My Iphone will not sync with my computer

My phone stopped syncing about 2 or three months ago.
    Windows XP
    SBS 2011
I have uninstalled Itunes and reinstalled it.  By bet is there is some sort of log file that needs to be deleted but...

the question is if it show up as a camera device in windows?
if so they I would suspect one of the apple services are not running correctly
if it don't then I would suspect
missing or wrong drivers for windows usb port
    defect usb port
    defect cable
    defect iphone connector

    Vague.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?

  • Replacement iPhone will not sync with existing library on external HD

I had an iPhone, and all of my music is on an external hard drive. Everything synced and worked great, no problems. However, the Apple store just replaced my iPhone on a warranty issue, and now my iPhone will not sync with my itunes. Itunes and my external hard drive work great, but the minute i plug in my new replacement iPhone, it instantly crashes my external hard drive and will not sync any of my music. Ideas?

    Hi,
The issue might be caused by the USB connection. Try directly connecting both devices to a high-speed USB2 port on the PC.
This article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1286 provides additional USB troubleshooting tips.
Also, make sure you have the latest version of iTunes installed on your PC.

Are you signed into iTunes on the computer with the same Apple ID the apps in question were "purchased" with?  Is the computer authorized for that account?

I followed the instructions in those 2 articles. Still not able to see the device in ITunes. I reinstalled the latest iTunes and all updates to my iMac (Mac OSX ver 10.6.8). I tried 3 different USB Cables in different USB ports. Rebooting both the Iphone and IMac. Still nothing seems to be working. I searched the discussion boards and I see other people with the same problem but they seem to run into the same problems finding a solution. I dont understand what happened because this was working properly up until 2 days ago. Do you have any more suggestions?

    Hi Peter!
I'm sorry to read that you are having issues with your Sync account.
Your best bet is to follow the steps described in this blogposts and open a bug:
    https://philikon.wordpress.com/2011/06/13/how-to-file-a-good-sync-bug/
After that, if you don't want to user Sync in your computer, you can stop it with this simple steps:
    * At the top of the Firefox window, click on the Firefox button (Tools menu in Windows XP) and then click Options.
    * Once the options window opens, click on the Sync tab.
    * At the bottom of the Sync tab click on '''Deactivate this Device''' link
