My iphone won't retreive new emails

My wife's iphone has decided not to retrieve new emails.  They show up on the imac but not the iphone or ipad.  Any ideas?  This has happened before and she has gone back to Verizon and they reset something.   Anyone know what that is?Thanks.

You are making an assumption the iPhone's Mail app can never check the incoming mail server for new messages at the same time as the Mail.app on the iMac since the Mail.app on the iMac is set to check for new messages every 5 minutes and the iPhone's Mail app every 15 minutes, which is not a good assumption.
And Push access for received messages does not apply with a POP account.
Regardless, although it is possible to access an antiquated POP account with more than one email client, a POP account is designed to be accessed with a single email client only. No such problem with an Exchange or IMAP account.
Try deleting and recreating the account on the iPhone.

    Yes I know what you mean about it cluttering the thread and for personal emails it is better without the signature. However this relates to sending business emails from an iPhone so I need the signature present on every email.
    I can't find anything in Settings so I was hoping someone may have some knowledge/information/experience regarding this problem.

    You need to change to old email for apple id just long enough that will allow you to sign out. You will have about two three minutes to log out and as soon as you do change it back, It will ask you to verify, don't. Just log out and change it back.

    I have setup Yahoo email account. I have several folders within my yahoo account (15+), now the new email notification ( sound and new email icon ) works only on Inbox, If I have new email in my other folder, iPhone will not notify unless I go inside that folder.
    Has anyone seen this problem and is there a workaround ?

  • Outlook won't recieve new emails when synchronizing inbox to server

    Hi,
    I have an inbox with about 15000 emails I want to sync with my 365 server in the clouds. The sync takes forever, and I guess it will take som days.
    The problem is that I don't recieve any new emails. To get new emails I have to turn of "buffered exchange mode"
    How can set up Outlook to both receive new emails and synchronize the inbox at the same time?

    I've seen some similar issues that the user can't receive new emails until all emails are syced to the server.
    In such scenario, we can do quite few. The only suggestion I can provide now is to wait until the sync is complete, then you should be able to receive the new emails. During the sync period if you need to check the Inbox, logon OWA or switch to Online Mode.

  • My inbox is suddenly empty & won't retrieve new emails (use Thunderbird / Windows 7). All other boxes/folders are there just nothing in the inbox .

    From my main computer, all old emails that were in the Inbox are suddenly gone & I cannot receive new emails. All other folders/boxes are there (nothing has happened to those files) and I can send emails. I can see the emails in the inbox through my providers site. I have a laptop and the Thunderbird email account on it is working fine. I've compared all the email settings between the main computer & laptop & both are the same. Can you please tell me how to get the old & new emails on my main computer?

    After trying lots of other ideas (including removing a mail account and recreating it), I have deleted my preference files and my Library/Mail folder. Starting over completely from scratch seems to have fixed it.
    I'm disappointed that I could find a better solution.

  • IPhone 4 not recognising new email address?

    Recently I logged onto the apple website and changed my email for my apple i.d to a different one. I kept the password the same and have never changed it. Later on, I notice that I cant download any apps because on typing my password in to download some it comes up with my old email address. I have plugged the phone into laptop since to download photos hoping somehow it would transfer but no luck. I have gone onto iCloud settings on my phone and my new email is there and apparently 'verified' but it still pops up with my old email when I try to download apps. Can anyone help please?

    Thats where the problem started.. I changed the email address on my apple i.d but my phone hasnt seemed to log it:( seeing on other questions the only answer seems to be to create a new apple i.d but im not sure that would help since my phone already does not want to change this i.d's email address haha:) 

  • IPhone won't stop sending email!

    I tried to send an email to my workstation at work.
    I got the error maessage *"Cannot send Mail - An error occurred while delivering this message"*
    I press 'ok' to clear the message but it immediately comes back and I find that my email gets through to my work PC alright but it keeps on coming through every few minutes. The iPhone must have sent this message to my PC at work about 50 times by now.
    I find that I can't get the iphone to stop sending the email unless I manually delete the message from my Outbox.
    Is this a bug?

    I just had this same issue tonight! This has never happened before and I have been an iPhone user for quite some time now... it shocked me when it happened. Ever since the 2.0 software and downloading apps I have had issues with the downloaded apps, but that is to be expected. I have never had any issues with email.
    Mine did exactly the same thing you are describing. I forced the email to close and the would go back in to see if it sent and look to see if the person responded to the email. Everytime it would pop up the same error. I didn't realize what it was doing until I finally got a response email that said "QUIT SENDING ME THE SAME EMAIL! I GOT IT!!!!!!". hahaha! So then I decided after about 4 times of doing this, to power off the phone and then back on. The weird part wasw when I powered it back on and the screen came up like when you first activated the phone, with the iTunes logo showing to plug the phone in to sync and then the slide bar to turn it on in emergency mode. So I powered off again and then back on again... it took a few seconds and then the home screen came up and then a message that said the iPhone is now activated. Well, I should hope so..............
    Anyways, it is very strange. I don't have any idea what this is all about, but the phone is ok now. The email recipient said that they received 50 copies of the email. Hopefully it stops for good now.

  • I have a gmail account set up on my macbook pro. One mail I sent with photos continues to repeatedly downloaded in Recovery. At the same time my Gmail won't download new emails into Inbox when I press Get New Mail. Help

    I have a gmail account set up on my mac. A few days ago I sent an email with photos in it and this email now is continuosly being recovered. In the meantime my inbox has stopped downloading new messages, even when i press Get New Mail. How can I stop the repeated recovery of the email and how can I get my inbox to download again?

    OK, I persevered and used the Rebuild mailbox option on Mail, actually had to do it twice, but now when I boot up and Mail opens all the previously received iCloud messages I've read on iPhone/iPad are pushed through.
    Back to normal...

    Sprint iphone 4Gs will display only preview of email message. When I tap on the preview, it won't display the entire email message, only the preview. Previously worked fine, only recently started doing this.

    I recently had a problem with messages too. Try hooking up to itunes and hitting the restore button. You will have to back up your settings again, but it worked to solve my problem. Hope that helps.

    I updated my desktop iTunes to the new Apple ID - added an @aol.com to the end - per the new "rules". Now my iPhone 4s will not recognize my new password and prompts me to update my account when I type the old one. Can't update apps or sign into iTunes on my phone. I keep getting the pop-up "You need to update your account with iTunes Desktop." I've done that. When the prompt pops up for me to enter my password to update my apps it says my ID WITHOUT the @aol.com, which leads me to believe my phone doesn't "know" my "new" username. I've done soft resets on the phone (two), signed in and out of everything associated with iTunes and iCloud and tried putting in passwords dating back to a year. It won't recognize my new password but throws the "you need to update" prompt up when I try to use an old password. HALP.

    I have taken the steps you said to do, but my iPhone is not recognizing my "old" password that I need to put in to turn off "Find my iPhone." I can't sign out. Which means I can't sign back in. I am able to sign in to forums like this with my new apple ID. But I can't get into my iCloud on my laptop. It seems like in order to try to deal with this problem I have changed my ID and password so many times that now I can barely log in anywhere. Should I just go to a Verizon or Apple store? Can they override my system and reset everything or something?

  • Outlook and iPhone won't sync new notes

    First of all, I have SHUT OFF iCloud Notes sync as per other threads on this topic.
    A couple days ago my Phone (iPhone 4) was syncing notes properly with Outlook 2010, now it won't.  It doesn't seem to recognize that there is new information.
    I've tried deleting and re-adding my notes, I've tried removing any notes that didn't have text in the top line of the note,  I've tried changing the Note on my iPhone and syncing with Outlook as well as the reverse but both the phone and Outlook go back to the old note!
    All I've been able to find in threads are suggestions shared above - are there any others I can try?

    have you tried manually syncing notes?
    make some notes, and pick a one or two to sync and see what happens
    try restarting the phone, make a note, and try syncing again.

    In what way?
    You changed the e-mail address associated with your itunes user id?  this should have no effect on your iphone.  it will simply change the e-mail address to which any correspondence from the itunes store is sent.

  • ICal won't update new email address

    Hi,
    I am having trouble updating my email address for iCal. It's stuck using an old address... so anytime I try to set the alarm the email just bounces.
    I've tried updating my card in my address book several different times and deleted any and all duplicates but it just wont take. It keeps reverting back to the old address.
    Anybody have any ideas how I might be able to shake loose that old address and get iCal to shift over to the new one.
