My Iphone won't sync with my new computer
I recently lost my hard drive on my old computer. I have authorized my phone on my girl friends computer which uses windows XP, but when I go to transfer songs from her library on ITunes I get a message that it will wipe all the music off my phone and replace with her library. I have tried to manually transfer the songs but get the same message when I try to change any of the setting for syncing.
I have over 900 songs that I have purchased over the years from other services and do not want to loose these songs. Can anyone help?! This is becoming very frustrating!!

True also.
Iphohe will sync or manually manage with one and only one itunes library at a time. Syncing or manually managing to another, will indeed erase the current content. This has always been the way the iphone works.

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer. Use your backup copy to put the music on another computer.

Copy the iTunes library from your old computer to your new one. There are multiple ways to do this. Transferring it via the iPhone is NOT one of them. The iPhone is not a backup, or data transfer device.

Good Day, I had Itunes downloaded on my Windows Laptop how ever this laptop has broken down and is not longer repairable. So i am planing to buy a IMac. So my question is all the data on my IPhone, IPad, IPod that i used to snyc with my now broken laytop am I going to lose it all when I sync with Itunes on my new IMac ?
JankeesIf at all possible, copy your entire iTunes folder from your old computer to your new one (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4527). Otherwise, you will lose and music that was not purchased from the iTune store unless you use 3rd party software such as Touch Copy to transfer it to your new computer. I recently purchased a new laptop and installed iTunes right away! the problem is, a few min after I have connected my iPhone and it is supposed to be syncing music to the laptop, it keeps popping up with Error -54. which i guess just means it can't sync? So i uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes again several times and i still get the same message except only now it shows up in my music library but when you click on it, it skips to the next available song automatically. I have forgotten my appleID password and the email it is linked to is deactivated, security questions aren't working. This is on my iPhone and iTunes acs so I can't sync with my new computer. How do I merge AppleID accounts and shut down the old one (when I have no password and the security questions aren't working?)
You cannot merge Apple ID accounts, that has never been supported.
You can contact the Apple ID Security folks per the listing in http://support.apple.com/kb/HT5699 and they can help reset security questions and get the account working. -

I need to add my music to my iPhone from iTunes but its not working!First off try and go into your IPhone manually through My Computer and cut photos or anything you can through the device to be able to free space up so that you can continue to do what you want to do with ITunes. This way you will be able to create a backup or do what you have to do to manage your information, photos and texts on your device a little better.

You don't. Backup your itunes library on the old computer and move it to the new computer.

If you have iTunes 11 turn on the Sidebar. Go to iTunes>View and click on Show Sidebar. You can also do a Crtl+S to show the sidebar. The sidebar is where Devices appears. and Control+B to show the Menu bar
Otherwise what happens when you try to sync? Note that you can only sync with one iTunes library/computer. If that is the problem you should go to Settings>General>Reset>Erase and content and setting and set up the iPod on you computer/iTunes library. One content on the iPod does not belong to you. -

I have restarted both my computer and my phone. I have deleted and reinstalled iTunes. I have installed the latest version of iTunes and the software on my phone is up to date. Nothing seems to work.

Keep your iphone connected. Quit iTunes. Reopen iTunes. Sync begins automatically. It worked for me and several others who had already followed the advice.

My ipod (nano, 6th generation) won't sync to a new computer with different stuff on it. Itunes on the new computer doesn't give the usual warning that you are about to lose all your existing stuff and the ipod *appears* to sync but when it's done it still has the stuff from the other computer on it. What to do?

just updated to the latest version of itunes and now my iphone won't sync with my email or calender because the apple mobile device is not started. Anyone know any way roudn this - Apple wish to charge me to fix this. not impressed
It is working now. I no longer get the message about the item not being available in the US and I can access the store.

Is synching over wi-fi viable? I've never done it, but when I tried something similar back in the old Palm PDA days, it was S-L-O-W, slow as molasses. I realize that the i-device are far more modern with faster processors, but wondering whether it's even worth exploring doing this.

Did you check your secuirty software settings? iTuens needs to contact Apple during the sync process.
