My iPhone won't synch audio books

I have the new 5s and when I synch my playlist, which includes audio books, it just skips over it in the synch.  I don't even care about all my music being onmy phone, just the books, and they won't synch.  I see other people are having this problem, but no answers yet, so I thought I would re-pose the question.

Thanks so much, I'm going to try this. In order to "un synch" do I just uncheck the music in iTunes that was synched up ( but left out the spoken word stuff).?  Then restart my phone and synch again? Do I have that right?

    This is certainly a major problem with the productivity of the iPhone. The Address book on the iPhone is lacking in some very important features. THere is absolutely no reason that the search ability that is required by the smart folders to work is not a part of the iPhone address book.
    We have now had three updates to the phone and still the address book is not searchable. How can that be. When doing SMS you can start typing and it narrows down the address book options. Why can't the Address Book do the same thing?

      I recently bought an audio book for $29.00 and can't download it to my new iPhone 6. I've tried syncing, un-syncing, disconnecting and re-syncing, but no luck. When I sync my iTunes with the audio books selected to download, I can see a Shared menu in my Music app under the ...More menu, but not an Audio Books menu. When I share with my PC, I can then see the Audio Books menu and listen to the books, but I can't take my PC with me so not much use.  Please help!!  Thank you.

    I have iTunes 12.0.1.26 / Yosemite 10.10.1 / iPhone 6 with iOS8.1.2 so I am as up to date with software as possible - but I STILL can't get the audiobooks purchased from iTunes to download onto iPhone 6!  The menu option 'More' which used to show Audiobooks doesn't  - only Genres, Compilations and Composers - and I can only see audiobooks I purchased from Audible in the Audible app.  Audiobooks from iTunes have vanished.......
    I guess I will just have to give my business to Audible.......

    Trying to synch previously purchased audio books to new mac. Old mac dead with no back up but have audio books on iPhone. Read that can only download an audio book once from iTunes (not good news as have quite a library for the kids) so how can i transfer the audio books from my iPhone onto my new mac?

    By 'mediathek' do you mean a new computer or a new iTunes library on your old computer ?
    Audiobooks are currently a one-time only download, so you will either need to copy them over from your old computer/iTunes library or from your backup and add them to your iTunes via File > Add To Library. If you don't have a copy of them anywhere and they are still in the store then you can try contacting iTunes support and see if they will grant you a re-download : http://www.apple.com/support/itunes/contact/ - click on Contact iTunes Store Support on the right-hand side of the page

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your iOS device, you need to delete the account from your iOS device first, then add it back using your updated details. (Settings > iCloud, scroll down and hit "Delete Account")
    Providing you are simply updating your existing details and not changing to another account, when you delete your account, all the data that is synced with iCloud will also be deleted from the device (but not from iCloud), but will be synced back to your device when you login again.
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iCloud account on your computer, you need to sign out of the account from your computer first, then sign back in using your updated details. (System Preferences > iCloud, click the sign out button)
    In order to change your Apple ID or password for your iTunes account on your iOS device, you need to sign out from your iOS device first, then sign back in using your updated details. (Settings > store, scroll down and tap your ID)
    If you are using iMessages or FaceTime, you will also need to log out and into your ID there too.

    I’m the owner of a week old 80G iPod which seemed ok till today. New up to date Win iTunes. Now I try to listen to any audio book that worked yesterday. The iPod seems to go into a auto reset operation, with the apple symbol showing, then returns to the select operation mode. I’ve tried listening more than a dozen times to several different audio books with the same results. All musical MP3s play fine. I tried manual reset with no positive results.
    I tried RESTORE but constantly get a error message that it can’t connect to the server because I need to be connected to the internet??????????? I connect to the Apple store and other sites with no problem. I went to MY computer and tried a quick format and it did nothing, I probably should be grateful!
    I just installed another 390Meg book which installed fine but again won’t play. It will not eject using iTunes or My computer saying it’s in use??????? I've shut it off for various times with the same results.

  • 2nd Gen (Touch Wheel) won't play audio book from iTunes Music Store

    I have a 10GB Touch Wheel iPod (2nd Gen). Software version 1.5.
    I recently purchased the unabridged version of The DaVinci Code from the iTunes Music Store. The 7-part audio book plays just fine on my iBook and on my daughters' Nanos but it does not play on my older iPod.
    What happens when I choose the first part on my older iPod is that you can see it cycle through parts 1-7 without playing anything and then returns to the main menu.
    I don't have problems with other music or previously purchased audio books.
    Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

    I figured it out on my own... somehow my device got switched to "shuffle" mode. I have no idea how that happened, but there you go. Since I never use it in that mode, it never occurred to me to check that. Sigh. I switched it back to 'play in order' mode and now it is just fine.

  • Iphone won't synch e-mail addresses from address book

    Strangest thing- My e-mail addresses in my address book are listed on my computer, but not on my iphone. Even after syncing in itunes under info "all contacts" sync and under advanced replace address book from this computer onto iphone...
    The e-mail addresses show up in address book on my computer, but the same exact contact is missing the e-mail address on the iphone... makes it annoying to write e-mails...

    Couple things I advise
    1. Launch Address Book - Go to File - Export - Address Book Archive - Save to where you can find it
    This will backup Address Book
    2. If possible wipe out all contacts from the iPhone and Sync it over fresh, If this takes to much time then move down to option 3
    3. Before going further. Take the backup file you made earlier burn it to a disk or something for safe keeping. But keep the file where u can access it when needed.
    Now delete all contacts from Address Book, Now in iTunes go to Advanced and tell it to Sync contacts. This should Wipe out iPhone with blank data as there is now no data in AB.
    4. Now take the backup file you made earlier. Double click and restore database. All contacts will return. Now Sync to iPhone.
    If none of this works you may need to restore iPhone as a new iPhone and do a fresh sync.

    Welcome to the Support Communities!  The article below will help you troubleshoot the issue you are having syncing your contacts with Outlook:

    If you are having trouble with a PC (with Outlook 2007 or later) and iCloud Contacts, try each of these steps, testing after each to see if the issue is resolved.
    Note: iCloud Control Panel does not support Outlook 2010 Personal Edition.
    Verify that you are using a Windows configuration that is supported by iCloud.
    Make sure your computer is online. Attempt to view www.apple.com. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud Contacts and events will not update in Outlook. Learn about troubleshooting your Internet connection.
    Open a secure website to test if ports 80 and 443 are accessible. Outlook requires port 443 access to iCloud in order to push and fetch updates to and from the iCloud Contacts servers.
    Open the iCloud Control Panel and make sure that you are signed in to the same iCloud account that you are using on your other supported devices.
    If you recently made changes in Outlook, and they are not moving to your other devices or vice versa, click the Refresh button in Outlook.
    Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on:
    Close Outlook.
    Open the iCloud Control Panel:
    In Windows 8.1, go to the Start screen, click the down arrow in the lower-left corner, then click the iCloud app.

    Make sure that iCloud is not your default account in Outlook.
    In Outlook 2013 and 2010, select File > Info > Account Settings > Data Files. If iCloud is listed as the Default account in the Comments column, select a different account and click Set as Default.
    In Outlook 2007, select File > Data File Management > Data Files. If iCloud is listed as the Default account in the Comments column, select a different account and click Set as Default.
    Restart your computer. This may sound simple, but it does reinitialize your network and application settings and can frequently resolve issues.

    Note: When enabling Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks in the iCloud Control Panel, part of the setup is to copy your Contacts data from the default Outlook .pst file to iCloud, and then remove the Contacts from the .pst file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Contacts data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud. Be sure you are looking for your data within the iCloud folder within Outlook after enabling Contacts in the iCloud Control Panel. The deleted file can be seen by viewing the Deleted Items within your Outlook Folder List. This is not iCloud removing your data; iCloud simply copies your data into the iCloud data set and then removes the local Contacts data by placing it in the Deleted Items folder.

  • IPod (30 gb) won't play audio book

    I have been listening to this book off and on for the last little while, and today it just stopped. The battery is fully charged. I press Play and it looks like it's working, but the countdown indicator at the bottom of the screen doesn't work and no sound comes out of the ear buds. I've tried resetting the settings, with no change. Is there anything, short of returning the unit, that I can try?

    I actually reinstalled the software and music for the unit, and it seems to work now.

  • IPhone won't synch with exchange server after ios5 upgrade

    I upgraded to ios5 last night.  I did not get the 3002 error however after reboot it asked me about use of location services, etc and then later about the "find my iphone" feature - at this point the phone got stuck - no matter which selection I made when I picked the Done button nothing happened.  I had to do a reset and it came back up OK (not sure what the status is of Find My Iphone feature - but more pressing is the fact that I can't connect to our exchange server.  After putting in my credentials it seems to connect and the name of the mail server gets filled in, but then in the next step it says "Unable to verify account information" and its game over.
    Any thoughts if this is a phone setting or a server setting?  I think we are using Exchange 2003.

    Not sure what happened - but its working now.  Our IT guys may have done something on the server side.  If I can get any details I will post them.  Look forward to picking up additional tips from this forum!

    i had to reboot my laptop, so reloaded itunes sofware, im now finding that when i'm synching my Iphone to synch audio books ive downloaded, , it says its synched with another itunes library ( my music) do i want to erase this iphone and lsynch with this iphone library, the music percentage at the bottom reduces to 0% in prep to erase.

    try a new/fresh apple brand cable and make sure it is the only usb cable in use. this worked for me, i noticed i had no problem with a lighting cable. i did a restore from scratch and from backup and it did not help me...and if you cant sync than you wont be able to get anything but apps back after the restore
