My iphone4(16GB) 2.5Gb space is occupied by 'Other'. how can i delete that data? Please help me out...

I recently updated my iphone4(16GB) with iOS 5. However, inspite of the great features and look added to the splendid device with iOS5 the disc space of 2.5GB is showing for 'Other' while it is connected to my PC in Itunes. Kindly suggest me in clearing that data so that i can utilize that space for Music or Videos...

A simple search of these forums or google would have revealed tons of information.
Restore the device to clear up the 'corruption' that causes Other to grow that large. It should be in the range of 3-800mb, maybe slightly larger depending on how many SMS and MMS messages you have and the number of Apps. If a restore from backup does not significantly reduce the size of Other, then a restore as new will be required to reduce it's size.

I need space on my hard drive, how can i delete movies permanently?

My computer storage is completely full. I checked what is taking up the most space, and it came down to movies. They take up about 50 GB of my storage, and they are all movies I haven't watched in years! I don't want/need these movies anymore, but the only option I've been finding is to "hide" the purchases. That doesn't do anything for me though, because it's not taking away any of the storage!! I need to find a way to delete them off my computer to free up a ton of space. How can I do that?

Did you try to right click on a movie in your iTunes library/My movies and click on "delete"? A message will pop up to ask you if you want to remove the movie from your iTunes library permanently, click "yes" to move the movie file to the trash to delete it later.

"Other" is space which has often been "orphaned" by the original application. Most of the time, the only way to recover that space is to restore your iPhone as a new device, and set it up again. You can try to restore from a backup, but there's a good chance, that the corruption is there in your backup too, so you may well have to set it up as a new device and start "clean".

Empty the Trash if you haven't already done so. If you use iPhoto, empty its internal Trash first:
iPhoto ▹ Empty Trash
Do the same in other applications, such as Aperture, that have an internal Trash feature. Then reboot. That will temporarily free up some space.
According to Apple documentation, you need at least 9 GB of available space on the startup volume (as shown in the Finder Info window) for normal operation. You also need enough space left over to allow for growth of the data. There is little or no performance advantage to having more available space than the minimum Apple recommends. Available storage space that you'll never use is wasted space.
When Time Machine backs up a portable Mac, some of the free space will be used to make local snapshots, which are backup copies of recently deleted files. The space occupied by local snapshots is reported as available by the Finder, and should be considered as such. In the Storage display of System Information, local snapshots are shown asBackups. The snapshots are automatically deleted when they expire or when free space falls below a certain level. You ordinarily don't need to, and should not, delete local snapshots yourself. If you followed bad advice to disable local snapshots by running a shell command, you may have ended up with a lot of data in the Other category. Reboot and it should go away.

You can more effectively use a tool such as OmniDiskSweeper (ODS) to explore the volume and find out what's taking up the space. You can also delete files with it, but don't do that unless you're sure that you know what you're deleting and that all data is safely backed up. That means you have multiple backups, not just one.
Deleting files inside an iPhoto or Aperture library will corrupt the library. Any changes to a photo library must be made from within the application that created it. The same goes for Mail files.
Proceed further only if the problem isn't solved by the above steps.
ODS can't see the whole filesystem when you run it just by double-clicking; it only sees files that you have permission to read. To see everything, you have to run it as root.
Back up all data now.
If you have more than one user account, make sure you're logged in as an administrator. The administrator account is the one that was created automatically when you first set up the computer.
Install ODS in the Applications folder as usual. Quit it if it's running.
Triple-click anywhere in the line of text below on this page to select it, then copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C:

Launch the built-in Terminal application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Terminal in the icon grid.
Paste into the Terminal window (command-V). You'll be prompted for your login password, which won't be displayed when you type it. You may get a one-time warning to be careful. If you see a message that your username "is not in the sudoers file," then you're not logged in as an administrator.
The application window will open, eventually showing all files in all folders, sorted by size with the largest at the top. It may take a few minutes for ODS to finish scanning.
I don't recommend that you make a habit of doing this. Don't delete anything while running ODS as root. If something needs to be deleted, make sure you know what it is and how it got there, and then delete it by other, safer, means. When in doubt, leave it alone or ask for guidance.
When you're done with ODS, quit it and also quit Terminal.

iCloud only give so much space for free storage, then if you exceed the limit of 5gb you have to pay for additional storage.

I had the same experience as you did, but in my case it was a big fat pdf that Mail insisted I had to download before I could view it. As happened with you, I saw the file actually downloading, and after a time I was able to view the pdf. It's been my assumption that the pdf is still somewhere on my iPad, but I have no idea where, nor how to delete it if it is still there.

YOu would need to contact Orange and have them unlock your phone.
ONly the carrier that the phone is locked to is authorized to unlock it.

In iOS 8, how can I delete pictures from photos app because I have run out of space, I need to delete at least 6 GB of pics. I deleted many purchased apps but it did not restore space. When I connect to iTunes it shows about 4 GB's allocated to documents & Data. I do not have any documents or data , also it shows a couple of GB's allocated to "other" I checked everything on the iPod and the only thing I can see using all my space is the pictures. Almost 12 GB's of space. I have all the videos and pics backed to iPhoto library on my iMac. The trash can is disabled on iPod, but enabled on iPhone and iPad. Why is the delete/trash can feature disable on my iopd? I need to delete the videos and a lot of pics.

Were the photos synced to the iPod?
If so you have to unsync them or use a third-party computer program like TouchCopy or PhoneView
An "other" larger than about 1 1/2 GB indicates corrupted files.

Can I, and how do I, delete app data from my laptop and keep all apps running normally and still on my ipad and ipod as they currently are?
My computer is overflowing and I see iCloud as a chance to clear some hard disk space.
If i delete the apps from my itunes browser on PC then it deletes them from my entire Itunes account. Can I just go into my itunes folder and delete the base application files?
If I remove files/apps and I sync my devices using my pc for music/video/photos etc then will it pick up that the apps and app data is missing from my pc?

Im trying to get an answer to this same question. My poor pc is almost out of hard drive space bc of all the iphone backups pre icloud. I want to know if I go into the itunes file on my pc and delete all those files will they still be safe considering they are on icloud now? The slightly bigger question is whether you want to move all movie content to the external drive (essentially meaning that drive will always need to be attached when you're working with your videos), or whether you just want to archive older videos off to the external drive.
If you want to move all videos, then just move the 'Movies' folder in your home directory to the external drive, then create an alias of the external 'Movies' back in to your home directory. Now the 'Movies' icon in your home directory will point to the external drive and everything will just work (as long as the external drive is attached when you launch iMovie)
If you want to archive older movies then each Movie should have its own subdirectory within your Movies folder. These can easily be moved off to the external drive, and moved back should you ever need to work on those movies again.
