this is really frustrating since i cant pick up calls with only 3 rings and i always miss them
i tried to restore like 3-4 times, didnt help
even tried to set the iphone as a "new iphone" on itunes and it didnt help
Generally, when going out of the country and using a foreign SIM, carrier files can be changed. Go to Settings>General>About>and look at Carrier? What does it say? You may have to perform a restore. You can try a restore from a backup, that would reinstall the iOS, and would provide the latest AT&T carrier file as well. See if this will fix the problem.

Its too bad that your phone is out of warranty because this is most likely a manufacturer fault. You need to take it back to Apple. If it is not a manufacturing fault, then go to any shop that your network owns and talk to them about this problem.

No. If find my iPhone was turned on, Activation Lock kicks in once wiped. The device cannot be restored or accessed unless the original Apple ID and password are entered.

Just got my ipod stolen and now I have changed all my passwords assigned to that ipod, can the person who stole it still see my updated emails and also can they see my facebook, although I changed the password to that too.
If you changed your facebook password they will not be able to login to your Facebook account.
Of course, other Facebook users may be able to see some of Facebook information depending upon how you have your privacy settings configured. -

You use Restore to get the latest firmware build, not the Update button. You can only use the Update button, if there is an iOS update, say iOS 5.1.

If you have a backup, you can restore the e-mails. Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J. When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder. Library/Mail/V2.

If you open the recovery drive (partition) it should only have a single folder (Recovery).
To make sure that your not saving restore points to that drive.
See:
Start, Control Panel, System, System Protection tab. Make sure the D drive partition is set to OFF so that it does not save there.

No app on the iPod is required.
- If you previously turned on FIndMyiPod on the iPod in Settings>iCloud and wifi is on and connected, on a computer browser go to iCloud: Find My iPhone, sign in and go to FIndMyiPhone. If the iPod has been restored it will never show up or conbtinue to show off-line.
- You can also wipe/erase the iPod and have the iPod play a sound via iCloud.

Message was edited by: changmeanI couldn't post anywhere so I thought to bump this one up since it's the same issue I am experiencing with my iPod Touch 2g 32gig. I decided to upgrade to iOS 4.0.2. After the new OS installed, an error message popped up on my laptop saying unable to restore my music (which was fine with me). I clicked on OK then the screen on the iPod Touch went black. I have been trying to rebooting it by using the suggested reboot/reset method: holding down power button and Home button at the same time for 10 seconds. I have tried simultaneously holding the two buttons for 10 seconds also. But neither worked for me. Right now I can't get it to turn on anymore.
One thing to add, my laptop no longer recognize the iPod Touch due to this issue.
Please help suggest.
