My iPhone4 is not recognized by iTunes over wifi.

While I have been having issues synching both my iPad2 and my iPhone4 over wifi to iTunes (error message would occur) recently the problem seems to have gone away for my iPad2, but not iTunes is not recognizing my iPhone4 via wifi. I have checked to make sure I am on the same network and even synched via cable, unchecked the wifi synch option and then reselected it. Still, iTunes does not see my phone. Any help/thoughts are appreciated.

Tom,
I have the same issue!

After updating my iphone 5 to ios 7.1, my device is not recognized in itunes for mac... obviously I have updated itunes too but the device still is not seen by itunes. I've tried to reboot both iphone and mac.. but still does not work... any tips?

Have you tried to give your iPod  a reset? Hold down the sleep and home keys until you see the silver apple. Let it reboot and try again.
Have you tried different USB ports? Rebooted your computer?
Uninstalled and then reinstalled iTunes? (You won't lose content if you uninstall)

  • ATV1 not recognized by iTunes (over Wi-Fi)

    Hi guys!
My ATV1 is not recognized anymore by iTunes. I tried everything (Apple tips, searched the discussions pages), but had no luck. I even erased the connection and started all over again, only to find the same result. However, the ATV is connected to the internet, and I am able to listen to the radio and everything else.
When I try to add Shared iTunes Library, the ATV becomes available again, but when I try to sync, iTunes gives me the port 3689 blocked error, and and afterwards the ATV dissapears from the Device list. The Apple tip on this problem doesn't do anything to solve it.
Any idea on what I might do? Could it be the router (Huawei HG655b)?
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • IPod touch 5th Gen. not connecting to iTunes over wifi

    Hi
My iPod touch has suddenly, in the last few days stoped being able to sync with the contents of my iMac over wifi. In the options part when a Device is conected to iTunes, there is a check box which I always have ticked. I have unticked this box and resynced, then reticked this box and resynced, but this has not worked. The only was to get music on to my iPod which I have on my iMac is to connect it the old fashion way with a cable.
The iPad mini has stayed connected. Both Devices are running iOS 8.2. I don't know what has done wrong

Thank you for your swift help. I think you should go to Level 11 just for helping me solve my problem.

  • My devices will not connect to iTunes over WiFi or over USB. No indication is given of connection

I was attempting to restore a 3rd generation iPod for a friend but the device would not connect to iTunes. I attempted to connect my 5th generation iPod touch but it would not connect either. I can see it is connected in the computers files but it does not appear on iTunes.

Is the Wi-Fi button greyed out?  Try this article: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1559
Also, make a backup to iTunes of the device.  Then restore it as a new device.  If you still have wi-fi greyed out, then contact Apple again, and explain that you believe you have a hardware issue.  They may still ask for a $19 deposit, but if it is actually hardware related, then you won't be charged the $19.  Only if it is software related do you get charged that $19.

  • My ipad is not recognised in itunes over wifi anymore..

if i connect direct to pc everything is ok...just wont connect and sync over wifi...
    anyone can help?

Usually it's because you are not making internet connection via wifi.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.

  • My wife's new iphone4 (a replacement for a 5 month-old iphone 4 with home button issues) is not recognized by itunes. Every other ios device in the house using that computer and Apple ID is. Any suggestions?

My wife's brand new iphone4 (which was a replacement for a 4month-old iphone4 with home button issues) is not recognized by itunes. Every other ios device on  the computer/Apple ID in question is recognized and syncs perfectly. Any suggestions?

If the new phone has already been setup, make sure the phone and iTunes are both set to the same account.
You might also have to authorize this computer for the new device under the store menu.

  • Ipod not recognized by itunes or laptop

i recently got a new laptop and just finished transferring my itunes library over to it.
i went to sync my ipod, but i had endless problems with my old and new library. long story short, i reset it completely.
on my ipod, i set everything back to their old settings and whatnot, but when i went to sync it, my ipod didnt show up in my computer or itunes.
i restarted, checked for updates, and all that with amds and itunes. i followed every suggestion from apple support, troubleshoot, and ran diagnostics from itunes. the diagnostics still say that there is not an ipod found.
on its own, my ipod functions correctly and recognizes to be charged from my usb port. itunes and windows wont recognize it though

  • IPhone 5 not recognized by iTunes 12

    Hello all,
I have an iPhone 5, I'm running iTunes 12.0.1.26 and Yosemite (OS X 10.10.1). Over the last few days, I've noticed that my iPhone is not recognized by iTunes or even Yosemite itself. I have already tried everything in this doc: iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for OS X - Apple Support, to no avail. I've been combing the communities and Google to no avail. Does this mean I need to try a manual restore on the phone? Any other solutions?
    Thanks
    Gina

I was able to uninstall and reinstrall iTunes, but my Iphone does not appear in iTunes, nor in Windows Explorer on my Windows 7 desktop. But it does appear in both iTunes and Windows Explorer on my laptop which runs Windows 8... How can I get it reconginzed on my desktop?

  • IPod NOT recognized in iTunes...'Recognized' in My Computer...W7

Hello, just joined community, my name is Dominick, glad to be here.
So all of the sudden my iPod is NOT being recognized by iTunes.  I have the most recent version of iTunes.  I am running Windows 7 64-bit on my Lenovo Laptop.  Long story/synopsis below...
It is being recognized in 'My Computer.'  It is recognized as "Removable Disk."  If I click on it, it then says "You need to format the disk in drive G [USB port its in] before you can use it".  Then asks me if I want to Format Disk or Cancel.  However, if I ask it to Format disk, it fails to do so every time.  After failing, it then says...
"Windows can't Format G...Check to see that disk and drive are connected properly, make sure that the disk is not read-only, and then try again.  For more information, search Help for read-only files and how to change them."
Can anyone provide some clarity on this statement?  Can I change its properties to read-only and will that work?
Again, my iPod is NOT being recognized in iTunes, so I cannot restore it.  I figured that would be my best solution at this point.  When I run Diagnostics in iTunes and run the "Device Connectivity Tests", it tells me all 3 Support Services are working/green amd 2 of the 3 Ports are working/green...the only not working/red item is "No iPod...found", which of course just means itunes cant recognize my iPod when plugged in...back to square 1.
Also, I came across the Apple page dedicated to troubleshooting an iPod that is NOT recognized in iTunes, but is recognized in My Computer.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US
However, after exhausting all options listed here, my iTunes is still not recognizing my iPod.  I then tried uninstalling iTunes and all its component programs, e.g. Quicktime, Bonjour, Apple Device Services, etc. and reinstalling and this did not work.  I then tried plugging in my iPod into a friend's computer with latest version of iTunes and that didn't work either.
To provide a little more background on how I got here, my iPod was acting funky over the past 2 weeks...meaning it would be slow to response, random songs would freeze/not play, and then start playing again, or freeze altogether, then I'de have to reset my iPod by pressing Menu and middle-button...I was planning on restoring it yesterday just to fix its minor issues that at the time were just annoying...but as fate would have it, here I am now...
When I plugged it into my laptop to Restore it yesterday morning, it took a LOOONG time for iTunes to recognize it, then iTunes told me the iPod was corrupt and I should Restore it...well, being an ignorant peion that I am, I instead disconnected it and tried Resetting it again to see what that would do...it then was totally frozen, wouldnt respond to pressing Menu and middle button to Reset iPod, and wouldnt get recognized by iTunes or My Computer when I plugged it in...once the battery died, I was able to charge it up, all the music and files were gone, and I had to select a language...I then plugged it into my Laptop to see what would happen, and per above, here I am now with iTunes no longer able to recognize iPod, but My Computer can, and everything else per above.
I've tried EVERYTHING I can find under the sun to fix / Restore my iPod / get iTunes to recognize it.  Any last-ditch efforts from the Apple Community?  Again, I already exhausted all options I can think of / find, including per link above...http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363?viewlocale=en_US....my hope is mebbe someone else here can provide another option that will magically work or can decipher what my Computer is telling me per above when it fails to Format my iPod.  Otherwise, this iPod is probably now FUBAR...
Hope that makes sense.  Please lemme know any thougts or questions.  you may have.  Thank you for your time.
    Dom

    From the Classic iPod manual.
    To reset iPod classic:
1 Toggle the Hold switch on and off (slide it to HOLD and then back again).
2 Press and hold the Menu and Center buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the
    Apple logo appears.

  • My ipod touch is not recognized on itunes and will not turn on or give me the battery sign. I have tried toubleshooting it by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button, but it doesn't work. What do I do to fix it?

My ipod touch is not recognized on itunes and will not turn on or even give me the battery sign that it is dead. I turned it off and it won't turn back on now. The screen is completely black and won't do anything. I have tried charging it over night and nothing happened. It was never near water. I have tried troubleshooting it by holding down the home button and the sleep/wake button, but nothing happened and it didn't work. What can I do to fix it?

  • IPod Help needed from serious Apple gurus - iPod Touch 2g 16g stuck in restart loop. Will NOT enter DFU or recovery mode, NOT recognized by iTunes on Windows or Mac

Ok, so here's the not so sad story. I bought an iPod Touch 2g 16g through Ebay - so forget warranties. Luckily I did not pay much. The description said it was stuck on the apple logo, so I figured it would be an easy put into recovery mode and restore problem.
    Not so much.
If you plug the iPod in and charge up the battery the LCD will come to life after a while with the apple logo, then it displays the spinning wheel with the apple logo over it. That will last anywhere from 10 - 15 minutes, then the iPod will go blank for a few secs and then start up the cycle all over again.
As stated, this iPod will NOT enter either DFU or recovery mode and believe me I've tried it several times several different ways with different timings, connected via USB to a Mac, connected to a different Mac running Windows, and connected to just the charger. Nothing. Occasionally the screen might go blank while holding the power and home buttons but nothing else happens and then it starts it's usual cycle again.
Again, iPod NOT recognized by iTunes on either Mac or Windows side. Since I got off Ebay and seller didn't know much about it, I have no idea if someone tried to jailbreak this or not.
I will not put much money into this machine. So I guess my question is: does this behavior mean that the motherboard is clearly fried? Are there any software programs that might diagnose what the problem is? Could it be as simple as a fried battery?
And most importantly, is this iPod simply toast or is there anything anyone can suggest????
Really any suggestions would be greatly greatly appreciated. Seems a shame to just trash an iPod touch that might need a simple fix...
If it helps matters, I can tinker with iPods somewhat and have torn down and replaced several iPod touch 1g and 2g glass and digitizers with no problems. I'm somewhat software savvy but the whole jailbreak thing is new territory... and I can't really figure out the command in Windows or Mac terminals to list all connected devices so I have no idea if the computer even knows the iPod is there, even if iTunes doesn't. Guess that's it... ummm, please help???

Nothing huh? No one's had this problem or this isn't fixable... oh well... if anybody comes up with anything I'll check in occasionally...

  • Iphone 4S NOT recognized by iTunes 10.7

My friend is using a 2007 Macbook running Snow Leopard.
Her fairly new (3 mos) iPhone4S is NOT being recognized in iTunes 10.7, on her Macbook which is running OS 10.6.8.
Her iphone4S hasn't been backed up yet, so she's running iOS 5 as her phone's operating system. She'd like to back up and then upgrade to iOS6, but the laptop just will not recognize the phone!
We have tried different connector plugs and even different USB ports. We even tried a different iPhone, but iTunes still doesn't recognize any device. I

  • IPhone 3GS/iOS4 not recognized in iTunes After Replacing MacBook HD

Several days ago, after experiencing some problems w/ my MacBook, I took it to the Genius Bar at my local Apple store. After some diagnostic tests, it was determined that my hard drive was in the process of dying. A new, replacement hard drive was installed by the very helpful Genius. When I got home, I used Time Machine to restore the contents of my hard drive.
I am running OS10.6.4 on my MacBook, with the latest version (9.2?) of iTunes.
After restoring the contents of my hard drive, Time Machine would not back up my MacBook until i formatted the backup drive, and started backups with Time Machine all over again (so now, only one backup since the hard drive restore).
Now, when connecting my iPhone 3GS running iOS4.0.2, the connection confirmation noise sounds, my iPhone very briefly shows up in the devices list in iTunes, and then disappears. I tried disconnecting and then reconnecting my iPhone a few times to see if I could get iTunes to recognize my iPhone. No luck.
At some point after several unsuccessful attempts to get my iPhone to be recognized, I was presented with the message that iTunes could not recognize the iPhone, and I should click the restore button in iTunes. I did this. iTunes wanted to download some software, for the restoration. It looked like this was successful, but then my iPhone vanished from the devices list again. After disconnecting and reconnecting it, and then clicking restore in iTunes, a message that iTunes could not contact the Apple software downloads server. This was erroneous, since I did have a functioning internet connection at the time (I had several tabs open and running in Safari at the time).
    Can anyone please help?!
