Try closing the Mail app completely and see if it works properly when you re-open the app : from the home screen (i.e. not with the Mail app 'open' on-screen) double-click the home button to bring up the taskbar, then press and hold any of the apps on the taskbar for a couple of seconds or so until they start shaking, then press the '-' in the top left of the Mail app to close it, and touch any part of the screen above the taskbar so as to stop the shaking and close the taskbar.
If that doesn't work also do a reset : press and hold both the sleep and home buttons for about 10 to 15 seconds (ignore the red slider), after which the Apple logo should appear - you won't lose any content, it's the equivalent of a reboot.

    Try restarting your Mac.
    If that doesn't help, open a Finder window. Select your Home folder (it has a small house icon) in the Sidebar on the left.
    Now open the Library folder then the Prefernces folder.
    Move the com.apple.desktop.plist file to the Trash. Restart your Mac one more time.

    Have you tried to manually update the individual programs?
    All updates start here and select product, read to see if you need to install updates in number order, or if the updates are cumulative for the individual product http://www.adobe.com/downloads/updates/

    How can a partially downloaded program affect your computer? If you don't find it in the Download folder or wherever you download to, then it's not on your computer.

    How long has it been since you did any hard drive maintenance?
    After six years of use, the hard drive may be so full that it is hampering performance.

    Determine the available space on your Mac OS X startup disk
    In Finder®, select the startup disk icon. For most users, this is Macintosh HD.
    Press the Command-I keyboard shortcut.
    The Info window for your startup disk opens. In the General pane, the Capacity, Available (free space), and space Used on your startup disk is displayed, as seen in the following screen shot:
    As a general rule of thumb: if the Available space on the Mac OS X startup disk is less than 10 GB, it is time to free some disk space. We suggest 10 GB as an absolute minimum as this is generally the amount of free space required to reinstall Mac OS X 10.5 and earlier via an Archive and Install and still preserve space for VM swap files. More free space is better. For example, users of FileVault may want to retain more free space than that occupied by their encrypted Home folder: disabling FileVault requires free space somewhat greater than the size of your encrypted Home folder.
    Even though Mac OS X 10.4 doesn't take as much space as Mac OS X 10.5, you still need to keep quite a bit of free space on your hard drive. A too-full hard drive is a common cause of system slowdowns.
    If you find that you do have enough disk space, post back and we will explore other potential problems.

    Do you mean that only your iPhone and iPad stopped working! while other devices (Pc, laptop, etc..) still works?

  • My IQ500 has stopped recognising when a cd rom is inserted, can anyone help?

    When I insert a cd there is no icon appearing in my computer. and I cannot see anything on the disc, as if there was no disc inserted.

    Am I wrong in thinking we can't do this now because the iPad has lost all power?
    We've used the small amount of power left trying all the different answers suggested elsewhere on Apple Forum and Support where others have had the same problem with their iPhones & iPads.... (cleaning out fluff from socket with a pin... using alcohol cleaner to wipe muck from the charger plugs.... etc..) 
    With no power left on the iPad, we can't reset or recharge, so far as I know...
    Will take it into the Bromley UK Apple Store (in the chaos that will be Good Friday shopping) and hope they can help... hopefully it's something as simple as a new charger...
    Given similar problems others have had with their iPhone chargers, too, it does strike me as a serious flaw in Apple's usually brilliant design... oh how we miss Steve Jobs.... We shouldn't be paying the prices we do with this BASIC flaw in design of the charger socket... Apple surely know it wears out very quickly.... ?

    Updated a couple of weeks back an since my Mac has been almost unusable.
    Running a 2012 MacBook Pro 4GB Ram, Intel I5 2.5Ghz with a 750GB Harddrive. This is a home PC not a work machine, typically accessing internet over WI-FI and for 2 years has run like a dream.
    Seen some threads on here already about deleting the Open Directory Folder but seems to make little difference.
    Sadly I haven't taken a back-up for ages as haen't had my external drive plugged-in.
    Short of copying any pictures and docs elsewhere and starting a fresh I'm running out of ideas, anyone able to help?

    But the Yosemite beta is not open to the general public, just people that signed up until they reached a million testers.  So it is unlikely you can get a legal beta copy.

  • My i pod has songs in the library but cannot update - PLEASE CAN YOU HELP?!

    I keep getting the message that says
    "song's on the i pod cannot be updated because all the playlists selected for updating no longer exist"
    I currently have no songs on my i pod and can't seem to get them from my library to my i pod.
    Do i need to create a new playlist and if so how do i do it?

  • I took the advice of one of the people in the forum and changed a number in the registry from a 10 to a 20 to give more time for apps to load and now it is too slow. I need to change it back but I do not know how, please can someone help me?

    this advice came from someone in a solved part of the forum, who had a long list of computer solutions.

    Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the add-ons is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

    If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
