My iPhone4s works but the display...?

Earlier today, I was using my iPhone 4s, playing games as I normally did. At one point, the screen slowly got darker, like it was fading away, but then returned to normal display. I did nothing to cause this, I was just playing. About a minute later, it did the same thing. I'm not very sure how to explain it, but the screen turned black and there are blue vertical stripes. I tried to reset my phone on itunes to no avail and have restarted it numerous times. When you turn it on, you'll hear the sound it makes when it locks and unlocks, and it buzzes if you put it on silent, but you don't see anything on the screen. In the very beginning you could see pieces of the game I was previously playing in shades of blue and black, but now it is purely blue and black.
Is there any way I can fix this? More importantly, what is wrong with the phone?
Update: I've been playing around with it a little. i managed to take pictures, though nothing came up on the screen. Sometimes there will be lines that change color to red, or green, or like a skin color.

I'm sorry to hear that. If the display isn't working you can take the phone somewhere to see if they can fix the display.
I would honestly take it to Apple and get it swapped out for a new iPhone. It will cost you money because liquid damage is accidental so it wouldn't be a free switch out they would charge you for an out of warranty price. That is the best way. The only reason they switch out the iPhone is because liquid damage in unpredictable of what it damaged.
Hope this helps.

  • Backlight Works But the display is not

I recently changed my logic board with a used due to a hardware problem. After the installation the MB works fine except that my display is not working (the backlight is working. I connect to an external Display and it works fine. Please Help!!!!i Double check the data cable for screen. Is there anyway to check my hardware for a problem. Unfortunately here in Greece the support is not so very quick and it is very expensive

You might want to try your homeowner's insurance or see if your credit card offers some protection (that is if you used one to buy it).

  • HT4059 Can't update iPhone4S software 6.1.2 to 6.1.3, because there is unknown error 3198. What is that error? Everything else works, but the update.

Is there any explanation for the error 3195. I can't find reasonable answer.
Everything else works, but the new 6.1.3 has not updated, bevause the mysterious error 3198.

Thank you for attention, about the error code. It was 3195, but it is no longer problem, because I managed update iPhone by my homecomputer. The PC in my work wasn't "up to date". Case is closed.

My iMac won't start up, or wake from sleep.  I've tried everything, except for reinstalling the SO-DIMM memory modules. Still, my iMac will not wake up.  Turning it on, you can hear the fan run, but the display stays dark.  Any ideas what to do?  Thanks!

    Mac doesn't boot
Can you hear the fans and hard drive and see the white boot screen? Flashing question mark? The circle just runs and nothing happens? Only black screen and nothing else? These can be very helpful to diagnose the source of the problem. [1]
Flashing question mark [2]: This is usually a sign of a failed hard drive. This indicates that boot up volume can not be found.
Black screen: This is usually a sign of a failed logic board. There is no single reason for this and this may be caused by failed GPU, screen, CPU or RAM.
Circle of death/no circle/blue screen: This is usually a sign of a hard drive failure. This may NOT be a dead hard drive, just broken permissions or something
Gray screen/Apple logo/spinning gear or globe/prohibitory sign/folder with flashing question mark [3]: This could be a sign of faulty hardware but more likely a software issue, i.e. broken permissions, failed software update, etc.
    [edit]
    What to do
First, hold down the option key (also known as the alt key) just after you've pressed the power button. This should show all the available options to boot from, so if you have Windows installed through Bootcamp or a disk in your SuperDrive, you should be able to see them along with your OS X drive/partition. Select the OS X partition with arrow keys and press enter. Startup key combinations
If that doesn't help continue doing the steps from below:
    1. SMC reset [4]. Shut down and unplug all cables including power cord for at least 30 seconds and then plug in power cord and keyboard/mouse.
    2. PRAM reset [5]. Hold down option, command, P and R while booting. Start it when you hear the sound and don't let go before it reboots.
    3. Safe boot [6]. Hold down shift while booting to boot into safe mode. If this works, open Disk Utility from Utilities and repair your permissions and verify the disk
    4. Hardware test [7]. Insert the install disk (disk 1 in Mac which shipped with OS X 10.5.4 or earlier, disk 2 if shipped with OS X 10.5.5 or newer) and hold down "D" before the grey boot screen opens. Follow on screen instructions
    5. Boot from install disk. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac. Hold C while booting. Select Disk Utility from top bar and repair permissions and verify the disk. Reboot normally and see if it works now.
    6. Boot from another Mac (Firewire target disk mode). Connect the machines with a Firewire cable. Power on your Mac and press T. Select the other Mac's hard drive. Download the current OS X combo update. Run the combo update installer and select the drive that won't boot as the destination.
    7. "Repair" OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and reinstall OS X. This should NOT erase any data, just replaces the system files which may have caused your booting problem. Now install the latest combo update for OS X and repair permissions on your drive with Disk Utility.
7.1. Install OS X into an external hard drive and then boot from it [8] and try to copy your data from the hard drive before proceeding. If you have done a backup recently, you don't have to do this.
    8. Restore OS X from Time Machine backup. Boot from the disk that came with your Mac and choose the Time Machine restore option. This step will lose any changes made since your last backup but the system and your data will be put back to exactly as it was on that date.
8.1 Reinstall OS X. Boot from the install disk as in point 5. and select Disk Utility again. Now erase the whole hard drive and install OS X again. If you had a Time Machine backup and step 7 worked you don't have to do this.

  • I have a macbook pro, and i want to transfer my hard drive from my macbook, but the display drivers and such are different.  How do i do this?

I have a macbook pro, and i want to transfer my hard drive from my macbook (500g), but the display drivers and such are different.  How do i do this and is it possible?
The Macbook Pro has Mac OS X 10.4.11 (70g hard drive)
The Macbook has Mac OS X 10.6.8 (500g hard drive)

The MacBook's hard drive lacks the necessary hardware drivers to boot the MacBook Pro even though it has a much newer OS on it; that's why simply moving it into the Pro doesn't work. Presumably you have a very old MB Pro, because only the very first MB Pro model (produced January to May 2006) was ever offered with an 80GB hard drive. Are you sure you want to move your big drive into such an old machine? The MacBook must be newer, because the first MacBook was introduced just as the first Pro model was discontinued.

  • I recently had my iphone 4s screen repaired because the screen was cracked. It was all ok and then a few weeks later something strange happened. My touchscreen works, but the screen doesnt show, you can see the light in the background but no picture?

I recently had my iphone 4s screen repaired because the screen was cracked. It was all ok and then a few weeks later something strange happened. My touchscreen works, but the screen doesnt show, you can see the light in the background but no picture? has anyone got any ideas as to what the problem is, is it self-repairable or even repairable at al?

The LCD Display connector has partially come loose from the logic board connector, and simply needs to be pressed back down into place. Or the front screen assembly is now faulty, and needs to be replaced again.

Look at no. 5 in this text which was copied from Apple's support site for troubleshooting Messages and FaceTime activation.
    Troubleshooting Apple ID activation
After each step, toggle iMessage and FaceTime off and then on again in Settings > Messages and Settings > FaceTime.
Update to the latest version of iOS.
Ensure that you have an active Internet connection. You can complete activation using Wi-Fi or a cellular data connection. Check your Wi-Fi network using standard Wi-Fi network troubleshooting.
If you receive an error when signing in to your Apple ID, visit myinfo.apple.com, sign in to your account, and ensure that the primary email address has been verified.
Ensure that FaceTime has not been restricted: Settings > General > Restrictions > FaceTime.
In Settings > General > Date & Time, ensure that Set Automatically is on. If Set Automatically is on, but the incorrect time zone is displayed, turn Set Automatically off and then choose the correct time zone, date, and time. Then turn Set Automatically on again.
Enable iMessage and FaceTime while connected to another Wi-Fi network in a different location.

    Where are you physically located?
What country's Store are you using?
The two have to be the same and the payment method for your account also has to be associated (billing address, where iTunes gift card was purchased) with that country.
Has the ID(s) worked before for purchases for this country's store?
