So it's the little thin ipod with no screen...that has the usb thing and the landyard. Whenever I try restoring it it tries to restore and then a message pops up. Hello everybody. I just got my iphone5 replaced by apple a couple of days ago due to a few issues I had with my phoone and I have backed it up on my hp laptop before going to Apple and then I tried restoring the back-up to the new phone but it will not restore the backup, I just get this message after the back-up restoration " The settings for your Iphone have been restored.Please leave your iPhone connected.It will appear in the iTunes window after it restarts." and then a countdown from 10 begins and the message dissapears and my iPhone is basically set up as a new phone. Can somebody please help me and explain to me what am i doing wrong? I have restored a backup many times before successfully but this time it doesnt seem to be working. Thank you in advance for your help!

You won't be able to. Here's why:
Since both your phones are new, they likely had the newest iOS version installed. For AT&T it's 4.3.3; for Verizon it's 4.2.8.
Since the Verizon phone has a LOWER firmware number than AT&T phone, you cannot restore a Verizon phone (older firmware) from an AT&T (newer firmware) backup. You could, however, restore an AT&T phone from a Verizon backup since the AT&T phone has the same, or more recent firmware update.
No way around this. If you search this forum, you'll see many similar posts.
If you used your phone as intended, you shouldn't lose much data at all, other than perhaps some application data. Photos are stored on your computer in iPhoto (unless you didn't do as recommended and upload photos taken by the iPhone into iPhoto), contacts should be synched with Address Book so they should be on your computer. Your iTunes media (videos, music, podcasts, apps) should still be in iTunes ready to be synched onto your new phone.

Iphone5 won't restore or update.

I plugged my iphone5 into my computer to update to ios8. When it was finished it said error and my phone screen was stuck on restore mode for awhile. I tried to update and restore one more time, now the phone won't even turn on (I press the power button and the white apple shows up then it goes black again.) How can I get my phone to work again?

IPod won't restore. help please?

I just reinstalled iTunes a week ago, because my iPod has the message "Connect to your computer. Use iTunes to restore." So I reinstalled it, and I plugged my iPod into the computer. iTunes pops up, I click the restore button, and it says it's restoring it. I leave it alone, and an hour later nothing on the computer screen says it's done, and my iPod still has that message when I (safely) unplug it from the computer. I have done this several times with the same results. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? Please help!

Ipod won't restore HELP!!

I tried to restore my ipod and then a green screen popped up saying ipod diagnostics and the green screen won't disappear... i don't know what to do

What is your OS? You can consider other tool to backup your iPod files.

Failed Upgrade to Version 3.1.2 - iPod Touch now won't restore - HELP !!

I sync'd my iPod touch (2nd Generation) today and decided to upgrade from V3.0 to the V3.1.2
The upgrade was donloaded but somehow failed to load onto the iPod. Saw the message on iTunes "Updating iPod Software" but after about an hour I gave up and reset the iPod and PC. Now I've tried to restore it but I just get the White Apple logo on the screen and a progress bar that's stuck. iTunes still shows "Restoring iPod software". Having sililar problems with one of my 2 ipod touch.
One set up fine. The other however is stuck at the first step!Picture of the itunes logo and the usb cable.
I did manage to set it up fine and get some music on it. However itunes asked that I update the software for the device. I clicked update and now the ipod is back to the start and stuck in that mode.!!

Your iPhone's iOS must be same or newer than the one in backups. In your case it is older so you need to update your iPhone and then recover it with backup.

You need to do as provided. If no change after restoring as a new iPhone or not from the backup, the iPhone has a hardware problem.

Nope. You need an .ipsw file to restore your phone & since your friend didn't have iTunes, obviously there is no current .ipsw file to use. You can go to an Apple store, use your own computer, find another computer, but you can't restore without a current signed .ipsw file.

I'm restoring my iPhone 'cause the connect to itunes mode just wont go away and it wont turn on but I cant do it even though I have the latest version of itunes(11.0.2) installed in my pc. So here's what really happened, one of my friends accidentally restored my iphone back to 4.1(I had 4.2.1 before). So when I was finally trying to sync it from my last backup, itunes said that I needed to update my software in order to sync my backup, but I failed to do it 'cause my internet's temporarily gone. Then after that itunes said that i need to restore my iphone(again). But it won't restore, it always stops in the middle of the process. And that connect to iTunes mode never goes away now. Please help me I really really need to use my phone asap. Sorry if it was long too.

As Lawrence pointed out, that is impossible to do accidentally.
Downgrading constitutes an unauthorized modification to your phone. A "hack".
Tell your friend to replace the phone. You can not get help here.
