hi every1 my ex bf gave me an iphone3g when we were in a relationship an it has his apple id evrything make thing s worse my computer that runs xp doesnt recognize the iphone when i plug it just comes up as an"unknown Device" said i needed a driver for it so i downloaded the latest version of itunes an still nothing my computer still recognize the iphone so i read some where that i could do a master reset to reset everything an i did now i cant even get past the apple logo how am i gna fix it if my computer dont recognize it please help

we did a master reset a few months ago. i thought i had everything i wanted saved on my sd card. i just realised that i had an 8 hour lecture that i recorded using the stock voice recorder. it defaults to phone memory when recording. i didn't know that. so after the master reset the whole 8 hour lecture is gone. is there any way to restore it?
i keep seeing this backup assistant running every night, but i don't know how to access the backed up files. i don't remember seeing it before the master reset so i seriously doubt it would have backed up that lecture, but i'm hoping there's a small chance.

I can definitely understand the importance of this lecture you had saved on your phone. When doing a master reset any info that was not saved to the sd card would be deleted and cannot be restored. Back Up Assistant is a great tool to use for your contacts and media (such as pictures). It would not have been able to assist with your other info. I am sorry for any frustration this may have caused you. Let us know if you need anything else.

TS1538 Iphone frozen after trying to update to 5.1.1

My friend is in pieces, she has tried to update to 5.1.1. She wanted to sync beforehand to itunes but it told her to update to 5.1.1 so she did and now the phone is frozen. It's telling her to restore her phone. If I tell her to do a hard reset (home+sleep button) will she lose her data that's on her phone right now?

1. There is no such thing as a "hard" (or "soft") reset in iPhone terminology. What you described is actually called just a reset, or phone reset. See the User Guide, Appendix B
2. Resetting as above doesn't delete any data, but probably won't help if the phone is telling her to restore.
3. Restoring may lose data if she never backed up previous to updating.
4. Worrying about losing data is pointless if the phone is nonfunctional and can't access it anyway. It may already be gone or corrupted.
5. We all know it's you, not your friend, with this problem...

i recently got my brothers iphone 3gs for christmas after he got his new iphone 4s, last night i connected it to tiunes to restore it to facroty settings, i let it work away as it was taking a while and when i came back to it itunes was showing the iphone connected and a big screen with just iPhone in the middle of it and no way to get into the settings of my iphone. my phone then asked me to insert my sim card with no pin code to activate the iphone on the screen that showes the phone is connected to itunes, i done that half an hour ago and screen is still the same, what have i done wrong or what can i do to fix it?

the phone was connected to ituen on my pc till itunes froze and stopped responding, so im downloading itunes 10.5.2 on my moms laptop and going to try and connect it to this and try the restore again, but when i was doing the restore the first time i had my sim card in the phone, it was taking a while so i left it work away and when i came back to my computer nothing showed in the progress bar and in the main screen where youd see all about your iphone and do updates and restore the phone is now a white screen with just iphone in the middle of it,
tried rebooting the phone with the sim card in it and it still starts up the same showing the usb connection and the blue itunes symbol. starting to annoy me now as only got the phone yesterday

Recover apps on symbian 60 v5 after master reset?

I have a Nokia nuron 5230. After a master reset can you recover the apps you had installed before? The memory card still shows the same free space, so the apps are still there somewhere, I jsut can't find them through the file organizer yet

I don't think I backed them up, unelss the phone does that automatically?
I had a bunch of stuff, like opera mobile. I know I can get them back from ovi store, but I wanted to see if there was a way to restore it without having to reinstall and set them up all over again.
There is also the issue of memory. When I did a master reset, the memory card contents did not seem to change. So that means I have a lot of unusable files on there? If I reinstall the apps will the go to the same folder and replace the old files? I want to be efficient with my memory usage.
I just installed x-plore and found some hidden folders in (E:\resource\apps and e:\system\apps). Including the opera mobile folder. But I didn't find some games. Where would java games be held? Also, these folders only have like 5 mb of memory, I'm looking for like 100+ mbs of stuff. I usualyl install apps through nokia pc suite. Does it download the .sis files to a temporary file somewhere and then install the apps?

Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes.

It sounds like you cannot get your iPhone to respond to anything you are doing after installing iOS 8. I recommend you reset your phone with this process, which should get your phone back on track:
Turn your iOS device off and on (restart) and reset
You should reset your device as a last resort and only if you can't restart it.
To reset, press and hold both the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons for at least 10 seconds, until you see the Apple logo.

The following Knowledge base article offers up some great troubleshooting steps for the issue you're describing with your iOS device showing an Apple logo:
iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
Resolution
If a single application is not responding or stops responding when it opens, you can force it to close.
If the device is unresponsive or if certain controls aren't working as expected, restart your device.
If the device remains unresponsive or does not turn on (or power on), reset your device.
If there is no video or if the screen remains black, verify that the device has enough charge to turn on:
If you are using an iPad, ensure that it's connected to the USB Power Adapter supplied with the device.
Let it charge for at least twenty minutes, then see if it starts normally.
If there is no image on the screen, press the Sleep/Wake button to attempt to wake the device.
If the screen displays a red battery icon, continue charging the device until the battery is fully charged. Learn more about charging iPhone and iPod touch, or iPad.
If the above steps do not resolve the issue, or the if the screen remains black or shows a persistent Apple logo, try restoring with iTunes:
Connect the device to your computer and open iTunes.
If the device appears in iTunes, select and click Restore on the Summary pane. Learn more about restoring iOS software.
If the device doesn't appear in iTunes, try to force the device into recovery mode, and then restore it.
