My iphoto'09 is not working, version 8.2.1 (424). Any suggestions?

1) I dragged com.apple.iphoto.plist into my desktop as suggested by someone and did not help

a: That's the iPhoto Application
b: That's the Library - the bit that actually stores the photos
c: That's the same Pictures Folder referred to at b. It's part of the standard OS X install.
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Repair Database. If that doesn't help, then try again, this time using Rebuild Database.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

To re-install iPhoto
1. Put the iPhoto.app in the trash (Drag it from your Applications Folder to the trash)
2. Download it from the App Store to reinstall It's on your Purchases List* there.
For older versions that have been installed from Disk you'll need these additional steps:
2a: On 10.5: Go to HD/Library/Receipts and remove any pkg file there with iPhoto in the name.
2b: On 10.6: Those receipts may be found as follows: In the Finder use the Go menu and select Go To Folder. In the resulting window type
/var/db/receipts/
2c: on 10.7 or later they're at
/private/var/db/receipts
A Finder Window will open at that location and you can remove the iPhoto pkg files.
3. Re-install.
If you purchased an iLife Disk, then iPhoto is on it.
If iPhoto was installed on your Mac when you go it then it’s on the System Restore disks that came with your Mac. Insert the first one and opt to ‘Install Bundled Applications Only.
*Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.

iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always. -

I assume you are talking about Quicken 2007, not Elements. I have the same problem and contacted Quicken and they told me that (1) Quicken Elements will run under Lion and (2) If I really want to run 2007, I would have to do this by dual booting my Mac so that I can run Lion sometimes and Snow Leopard some times. Since Elements has only a fraction of the capability of 2007, I will pursue the latter option. I am going to create a new thread asking about dual booting, since that is more general than just running Quicken. Quicken says that there is an Apple dual-boot capability or that I can use 3rd-party software Parallels so that I can run Snow Leopard as a virtual system. I do not yet know how to use either of these.

v8.1.2 is the latest version of iPhoto 09. Upgrading beyond that requires a purchase. -
I had to erase my hard drive and then reinstall everything back from my passport external hard drive. Now my iPhoto edit is not working. I get a blank screen when I want to edit. The photos show up in the library but I cannot edit them. Help?
There are several possible causes for the Black Screen issue
*1. Permissions in the Library* : Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Include the option to check and repair permissions.
*2. Minor Database corruption*: Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild.
*3. A Damaged Photo*: Select one of the affected photos in the iPhoto Window and right click on it. From the resulting menu select 'Show File (or 'Show Original File' if that's available). Will the file open in Preview? If not then the file is damaged. Time to restore from your back up.
*4. A corrupted iPhoto Cache*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto folder from HD/Users/Your Name/Library/ Caches...
*5. A corrupted preference file*: Trash the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. (Remember you'll need to reset your User options afterwards. These include minor settings like the window colour and so on. Note: If you've moved your library you'll need to point iPhoto at it again.)
If none of these help:
As a Test:
Hold down the option (or alt) key key and launch iPhoto. From the resulting menu select 'Create Library'
Import a few pics into this new, blank library. Is the Problem repeated there?

Since my last software update, my iphoto 11 will not import any photos from any source. The circle just spins...when I go to force quit, it says iphoto not responding. Backed up iphoto library, uninstalled and reinstalled iphoto. Still not working. Help!

IPhoto email sudddenly not working
Suddenly my iPhoto email is not working. After I choose a photo from the library and push email and choose a size and compose,it starts to but after a moment the application freezes and the the BBOD appears and then the whole application shuts down. I tried at least 15 times today. Aside from this, I have continual problems with iPhoto 5 crashing. ANY HELP greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Close iPhoto. Use the Finder to navigate to Macintosh HD/ Users/ (your user name)/ Library/ Preferences/ com.apple.iPhoto.plist. Move the file to the trash and launch iPhoto. You'll have to set the preferences back to your liking.
If that doesn't help, then you can try rebuilding the database. Hold down Command and Option while launching iPhoto. Select the first 3 options in the dialog, then Rebuild. For more information read this Apple article.

Reading the previous comments, I understand the last thing I want to do is stick a mini-disc in my superdrive. Not too super, but never mind.

I would think that they were just testing it to see how many people would use it. But you might want to write a polite letter to Apple requesting a credit for the purchase price of the no longer supported app. That seems to be the least they could for one of their 'alpha testers'. -

Audiobook Not Remembering Playback Position
In iTunes 9.2, when marked as "Audiobook" itunes no longer remembers playback position. Both Playback position and skip when shuffling are grayed out, however they aren't checked. I put the files back in as "music: and manually checked "remember play
