My iPhoto book making process lost an option button, help?

Hi, I have now ordered 3 medium softcovered books. After I placed these orders I realized that I should have increased my preference settings to the 300 dpi as suggested by many on this discussion board. So, I have since done so.
Now when I go back into iPhoto and attempt to make an album one of the option buttons along the bottom, (just to the right of the "Page Type" pull down menu) has disappeared. It used to give me options as to how many photos, caption, colors of page to choose from.
I am wondering if changing the preference setting could be at all the culprit? I am perplexed as to why this would have happened?
Any knowledge would be appreciated. I do see that the "Page Type" pull down menu has some of these choices, but the other button had more options and I miss it.

To the right of "Page Type" are there two little arrowheads pointing to the right? If they are there, click on them and you will get a drop down menu with the options.

I t will tell you to look for a yellow bar at the top usually under the tool bar and it will ask you to "Edit Options" when you do, it will ask you if you allow the download/update or not.
My problem is, I am not getting this yellow bar anymore that gives me the "Edit Options" button so therefore, I do not think I am getting any updates!

You didn't lose that button. It is Adobe that is lost and haven't update their instructions for a long time :wink:
The instructions on the Adobe site are outdated and do no longer apply to current Firefox versions and you can ignore those instructions and save the Adobe installer to your desktop and start the installation with a double-click on that file.<br />

Option button help

I have a form with 3 option buttons in a group "Requested_Action" Choice1 - Choice3. I have another option button group and when I select one of the choices in the other group I want to lock choice 3 here's what I have so far:

The "isBoxChecked" can be tricky. You can test the values of an exclusionary group's value. It will be "Off" when no item is selected and it will be the optional/export value when a check box or radio button is slected. You can also check an item or uncheck all items with this inforamtion.

I was working on an iPhoto book and I lost most all of my work. Can I restore to earlier today when it had 58 pages of written word and beautiful layout of photos?

Please help! I spent countless hours working on an extremely important (major) project, and now it is GONE!
In iphoto, I have made many books before, this has never happened. I had a project with more writing than I'd ever had before; along with 56 (or 58, I am not certain, but one of those numbers) total pages. I'd made a slideshow, added a song to it. Was about to just go back, change the song, then export it and burn to disc. Sadly,when I opened the project, a mere 6 hours or so after last working on it, suddenly, most all of the work was GONE. Was down to 22 pages, and a version from 5 days ago.
Can anyone help???
This was a very special project that involved a lot of research, cut, paste, edit, redesign, new creative work, and a lot of "blood, sweat, and tears," as they say.

Lost mask option button for adjustment brush

I am not well up on the correct lingo so bare with me please.
When using adjustment brush and Crop tool a bar used to appear under the photo giving me the option of seeing the overlay filter of where i had burned in or dodged.
it also appeared for the 'Done' option when cropping.
This bar has disspapeared from my screen and i can no longer see how much and what areas i have effected with the adjustment tool.
how do i get this option back on my screen?

"Edit photo" link in iPhoto Book Project does not work

Hi,
I am putting together an Book project in iPhoto. On a few pictures, I would like to edit them to make minor adjustments.
When I right click on the picture in iPhoto Book Project, there is an option to "Edit Photo".
When I click on the "Edit Photo" link, the screen switches to the iPhoto Edit page but the picture does not load for editing - it's just a black screen.
I can always edit the photo before placing it in the Book, but in a large Book it is more convenient to select the picture on the Book page rather than going back and look for it in iPhoto.
Anyone has experienced/fixed this? Is this a bug? I have version 9.2.3

Are you able to go to the photo in its Event and edit it there? Apply the fix below:
Fix #1
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - run Option #1 to repair permissions and #4 to rebuild the database.

Palm Centro Option Button Issue

Hi, I have a Centro (Verizon) on software revision CENTRO-1.03-VZW that I had to hard reset last night. Ever since then, I've lost some option button function. I used to be able to hold the option button and press the left/right arrows and move word-by-word through messages, but that doesn't work anymore. Any ideas? This is driving me insane trying to figure it out!

How to fix lost connections to original high-resolution pictures in iPhoto and how to import an iPhoto Book from one iPhoto library to another

Hi there,
I am using a MBP Pro with 8 GB cache and 1 TB HDD from beginning of 2011 with OS X Yosemite and iPhoto version 9.6 (910.29).
I created an iPhoto Book to print which contains my best pictures of 2013 and 2014. Then I got an error message when I wanted to print the book, saying (translated from German):
Book could not be created.
With photo p233432343.jpg there was an error. The original version of that photo with full resolution could not be found or is damaged. Please replace the photo or delete it from your book.
When I enquired further, I found out, that many, many pictures in my iPhoto library have that problem - only the thumbnail picture is found by iPhoto, but not the one with the high resolution. When looking at the photos in detail one sees that they are not sharp because obviously the photo book only refers to the thumbnail. When I went into the iPhoto Library using Finder, I saw that the original high res photos are still there. As there are an estimated 3000 photos with a lost connection (some still have, it but about 1/2 of my photos don´t), it does not make sense to import those photos manually. This photo book is just the tip of the iceberg, so to say.
Then I looked for solutions in some forums. I had two lPhoto libraries, one on my HDD (120GB) and one on an external HDD (175GB). Assuming there might be problems, I have deleted (moved) the one on my HDD, because the "right one" is the one on my external HDD and started iPHoto again using the alt key. But that did not work either.
I then tried to repair my iPhoto library using iPhoto Library Manager, and merged and rebuilt libraries. The library that came out was crap - all folders that had lost connections to the high resolution pictures now have zero photos in it. Also it is lacking the projects, including the photo book I created.
Then I went to find out if there is a way to import the iphoto book project from the old, corrupt library into the new, repaired library but could not find anything. It can only be exported as a file structure or website. As the file structure is missing the high res pictures, that does not even solve the "little" problem of the photobook.
I would REALLY appreciate your help on the two questions:
1- Can you advise what I need to to do to to get the connection to the high resolution photos established again ? As it is more than 3000 photos, I use an automated way of reestablishing that connection. Probably an answer to this question would make question 2 irrelevant.
2- Do you know if there is a way to export and import a book project created in iPhoto from one library to another ?

1 - Select the thumbnail of one of the problem photos and use the File ➙ Reveal in Finder ➙ Original menu option. This will take you to the folder containing the original file with that file selected by the Finder.
You can also use Find Any File to search for that file (get the file name from the Info pane in iPhoto). You will find the thumbnail version and maybe an edited version also. Made sure what is found is the large, original version and note were it's located. Search all of your drives with FAF just in case.
If you don't fine the full sized version then the only recourse is to use a file recovery application like SubrosaSoft FileSalvage on your drives to see if any of your full sized photos can be recovered. If you find enough files to make the purchase of the software worthwhile buy it and recover the files. However, since it may have been quite a while since you discovered the missing originals it seems unlikely you'll be able to recover any due to being overwritten.
2 - book projects are just entries in the library databases and can't be exported to another library.

Try the following: make a temporary, backup copy of the library and try the following:
1 - delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your
User/Home()/Library/ Preferences folder.
2 - delete iPhoto's cache file, Cache.db, that is located in your
User/Home()/Library/Caches/com.apple.iPhoto folder.
3 - launch iPhoto and try again.
NOTE: If you're moved your library from its default location in your Home/Pictures folder you will have to point iPhoto to its new location when you next open iPhoto by holding down the Option key when launching iPhoto. You'll also have to reset the iPhoto's various preferences.

How apple will print an iphoto book ? Does anyone will see it while printing there? or does the printing processes will be automatically?

I am muslim girl and I usually cover my hair and my body as well. ( in my religion no men allow to see my body uncovered ). I have created an iphoto book with my pictures without the covers. I would like to purchase the book through apple store. But I am worried if someone will see my pictures while printing the book in the lap or not (especially men) ? I have contact customer service in New Zealand to have the answer but they couldn't help me.
So my Question is:
Do you know what exactly the processes of printing the book? is it going to be automatic or someone will review my order and see it ?
I haven't purchase the book yet.

As this is important to you I would think it very likely that at some point in the process - Quality Control, for instance - the book will be reviewed by a person. As to the sex of that person, we have no way of knowing.

The "options" button should appear at the bottom of the iPhoto window, when you view your book, then the Book Settings Button should be available and you can activate page numbers.
But remember, that the settings available will depend on the Book Theme you selected. The above shows the settings for one of the "Travel" themes. In a Picture Book Theme, e.g. you cannot add page numbers.
What theme and book size are you using?

I did as you suggested:
1) Booted from install CD.
2) Ran Disk Utilities on internal hard drive--no repairs necessary. For good measure, did the same thing on external drive. Also no repairs necessary.
3) Checked software update--no updates found. About this Mac said I was already running 10.4.7. For good measure, I downloaded the latest and installed it. Since it let me run the install, I'm not sure if I installed something new or reinstalled what I already had.
4) I rebooted from CD, ran disk utilities, ran repair disk--no repairs necessary. Repaired permissions and a lot of permissions repaired.
5) Tried to delete the files and the same old thing happened: kernel panic. The specific message:
panic(cpu 0 caller 0x00102A08): jnl: transaction too big (1587712 >= 1572352 bytes, bufsize 8192, tr 0x29f1fb0 bp 0x2801de40)
So there's no change in my status.
I'm trying to delete the files because:
A) They already take .5 Gb.
B) I can't get rid of them ever. If I move the problem files to a different folder, I can only do one successful drag-and-drop backup to the external drive until the "new" thumb segments become unerasable just like the previous versions and crash the system.
C) I can't even "just" drag and drop every file/folder except the thumbs, because that ends up crashing the system as well. So I have to drag and drop every file/folder in the iPhoto hierarchy individually. Which makes me less inclined to backup, which defeats the purpose of a backup.
D) After the iPhoto fiasco I'm just crabby about all the Apple screw-ups I'm experiencing and I want to get them fixed.
