My iphoto just shows a loading symbol when i open it and doesnt do anything...?

help please.

They are not showing because you're posting the location of them on your hard drive.
You need to put them on the Internet for other people to see them. Note the Camera Button on the reply box? Click on that to upload a photo to the forum.
As to the core issue:
Assuming you are using iPhoto 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

  • Why doesn't itunes show all my music when i open it and i hav to add folder

when i open itunes, my music doesn't show and i have to constantly add folders to my library and it takes ages. Even if i consolidate the library before closing, there is no music when i reopen itunes. HELP!!!!
Message was edited by: unable to save music

I've been having the same problem since the upgrade to 10.4. Most of what I try to add to my Music Library is simply not showing up. These files are not corrupted, they're the same files I had on the last version of iTunes. I'm simply trying to reorganize all my music, so I started over, but this update has ruined my efforts.

It sounds like it is attempting to start in Safe Mode. First try resetting the PRAM, you can learn how by clicking:

  • Iphoto has recently stopped working; it continually shows the loading circle. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it, updated it

Iphoto has recently stopped working; it continually shows the loading circle. I’ve uninstalled and reinstalled it,updated it and reinstalled all my apps with the ‘applications install DVD’ however it still does not work. I have also tried holding the command and option key while pressing iphoto then when the pop up appears i press the checkboxes that have been suggested by other users however nothing happens. Any other suggestions would be great!

Ok the program itself is likely fine, it's the files it depends on that are not.
    Step #1
1: Open your Users/Library/Preferences folder (if on Lion you need to use the Go in Finder)
2: Scroll down until you see a file called
    com.apple.iPhoto.plist
3: Trash it and reboot, start iPhoto and see if it works.
    Step #2
1: Go to your Users/Pictures/iPhoto Library and right (or hold option) click on it and "show package contents"
2: Inside will be a folder with your originals, copy them out.
3: Move and rename the iPhotoLibrary file outside of the Pictures folder.
4: Reboot and restart iPhoto, check inside the Pictures folder if iPhotoLibrary was created.
5: Download ClamXav and run a scan on the Original photo's and your whole machine too while your at it.
(it's if there is a picture in there from Windows it could contain a corruption caused by malware)
6: Reimport the originals back into iPhoto.
See if those two steps resolve your issue, if not I could suspect next a network issue? Like iPhoto is trying to contact the internet and can't or gets hung?
You can can create another user, use the Shared Drop box to transfer files and log into the other user and see if it's a issue with just your User account, and if so you might just want to transisition over and then one day delete the old user and it's problems.
    Please keep your Flash updated.

  • IPhoto just crashes... even when trying to rebuild database

I have iPhoto '06, with the latest software update (as of today), and it doesn't work at all:
Whenever I try to start it, it shows a "loading" screen for about 10 seconds and then just disappears (i.e. crashes). My crashreporter logfile includes:
    Exception: EXCBADACCESS (0x0001)
    Codes: KERNPROTECTIONFAILURE (0x0002) at 0x00000004
    Thread 0 Crashed:
    0 com.apple.iPhoto 0x00446adc dyldstubNSCopyObject + 388732
    1 com.apple.iPhoto 0x00051bf0 0x1000 + 330736
I've tried holding cmd+option while clicking on iPhoto. No matter which of the four rebuild options I choose, it crashes within 10 seconds of starting. (The same error message is written to my console.)
I've put a TREMENDOUS amount of time into organizing my pictures (specifically, the ratings, keywords, and albums). How can I retrieve all of this work?

    Mike,
    close iPhoto
Drag the library to the desktop and rename it iPhoto Library_old
put your backup library in the Pictures folder and launch iPhoto (make a backup of the backup first)
If iPhoto launches and opens the library you are halfway there.
Now you need to import the newly added photos since the backup
A.) Do a search in the iPhoto Library_old folder for files after a certain date
By checking out the path of the files you will see where they are in the old library. Only import files from the Original folder. If the file is in the edited folder you can import that too, but you will now have the original and the modified version showing in the library.
If there are rolls in the old library that have been imported after the backup you can import those rolls from the originals. If you want the modified photos from those rolls import those rolls also. You will have both showing in the library. Since you combined some new rolls with older rolls you will have to really concentrate on what you are doing.
B.)This is not possible as far as I know.
    With regard to B
I do not know what will happen if you attempt this, you can try it on one file and see what happens.
    For the iPhoto burned backup
Double click the disc once mounted on the desktop ( you might have to open system prefs/cd/dvds and check the option to not have iPhoto open when a picture disc is inserted first...I am not sure on this)
Drag the iPhoto Library folder from the disc into the Pictures folder.
Make sure you have first moved the old library to the desktop and renamed it.
This is why you need iPhoto not to open when the backup disc is inserted.
let me know how it goes.

Are you streaming or syncing you music? Sounds like you're streaming music directly from iTunes.
There can be many different issues. First, try power-cycling you wireless router (leave router disconnected for about 1 or 2 minutes) to refresh the wireless communication betweek both devices.
Make sure all software updates have been installed, for Apple TV and iTunes.

If you want help you’ll need to give us more information. There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

I have my landline diverting to my iPhone. However, it does not distinguish whether the call has come from my diverted landline number. My old Nokia many years ago used to show an arrow symbol when it was a call thats source was diverted. I really need to know when a call has come from my landline so I can greet the caller in the appropriate way and also so I can be sufficiently short as I am getting charged for the call from my BT landline to my mobile.

That is not a feature that's available on the iPhone. Sorry.

    Do a backup.
Go to Finder and select your user/home folder. With that Finder window as the front window, either select Finder/View/Show View options or go command - J.  When the View options opens, check ’Show Library Folder’. That should make your user library folder visible in your user/home folder.  Select Library. Then go to Preferences/com.apple.Safari.plist. Move the .plist to your desktop.
Restart, open the application and test. If it works okay, delete the plist from the desktop.
If the application is the same, return the .plist to where you got it from, overwriting the newer one.
