My iPhoto won't open after reverting from mavericks to mountain lion! HELP!!

I recently upgraded to mavericks & quickly discovered that protools was not compatible with the new OS.. so i called apple & they suggested i back up my files & completely restore my computer so I could return to mountain lion..afterward i realized my ilife was no longer in my applications & had use the applications cd that came with my computer to upload ilife. now when i go to use iphoto it says " You can’t open your current photo library using this version of iPhoto. You have made changes to your photo library using a newer version of iPhoto. Please quit and use the latest version of iPhoto." & forces me to quit. I dont see any ipdates for iphoto & at this point dont know what to do!! please help!

Older version of iPhoto cannot open libraries that have been created or opened with later versions.
You can downgrade the library to 9.4.3 by following this iPLM tutorial: Fat Cat Software - iPhoto Library Manager Help - Downgrading a library to an earlier version of iPhoto

  • Iphoto won't open after changing from os10.5 to os10.4

    hello there
last night i reinstalled os10.4. i have been running leopard, but a program that i want to use is not yet compatible with it.
after installing it, it put all of my documents/files in a folder called 'previous system' on my hard drive. i then moved all the files back to their 'proper' folders (i.e. itunes, documents etc)
i moved the iphoto library and put it in my 'pictures' folder, but for some reason now iphoto won't open..it just bounces once in the dock and then nothing happens....
can anyone help? i've got some really precious photos in my library, and i'd be really gutted if i have lost them...
    thanks

    i'm using 7.1.1

  • Revert from Mavericks to Mountain Lion?

Regrettabily, I have installed Mavericks and then found out from Apple tech support that it doesn't allow USB syncronization with my iPhone or iPad; only through iCloud. I have never syncronized my contacts with any cloud service and don't want to. So, I'm stuck with an OS that doesn't allow integration of my devices locally. Does anyone know how I can revert back to Mountain Lion? I can't believe Apple has done this to its users. I use iCloud for other things, but this should be MY choice, not Apple's. At least not without them first warning their users before installing. I'm very disappointed and have told all my acquaintances to avoid Mavericks. If anyone has a solution, I would appreciate assistance.

I have an iPhone 4S running iOS 7.0.3 and Mavericks 10.9. on my Mac Pro.  I have no trouble at all syncing between the two using the iPhone's USB cord and iTunes.  I'm surprised that Apple would tell you otherwise.  i don't have an iPad and that may be the problem, but I don't know it.
However, I'm in the process of reverting from Mavericks back to Mountain Lion due to the many malfunctions in my work flow that are caused by Mavericks.  I usually don't migrate to the next great OS until it reaches at lease the 10.9.3 stage, but this time I suckered and I'm paying for it.  I'm not an enthusiastic beta tester and I've learned my lesson.

  • Applications won't open after switching from Mavericks to Lion!

I just restored my harddrive after trying to go back to Lion from Mavericks. After doing so, I tried opening up pages but the message "You have Mac OS X 10.7.5. The application requires Mac OS X 10.9 or later" keeps popping up. iPhoto, iBooks, and desktop/screensaver also wont open! help!!!!!!!!! ( I use a Macbook Air)

It sounds as if after you installed Mavericks your computer made a new backup so your most recent backup includes the Mavericks applications. When you reverted to Lion I'm assuming you used TimeMachine to restore your applications and data. Doing so resulted in the Mavericks version of Mail, etc getting installed. They won't work with Lion.
Sberman's idea may work. Open TimeMachine and 'go back in time' to when you still had Lion installed on the computer. Then restore the built in applications. That would involve all the built in Apple programs only. It may work. I've never tried it.

  • Iphoto won't open after upgrade to Mavericks

After upgrading to Mavericks a few wks ago I am having an issue with iphoto.  It did an auto update after upgrading to Mavericks, but now it has a circle with a line through it (blocked).  The pop up window says cannot open iphoto because it may be damaged or incomplete.

Delete it and download from the App Store.

  • Iphoto won't open after upgrading to mavericks

I just bought my macbook air from a pawn store a few days ago. I just got the OS X upgrade to finish after upgrading itunes, iphoto, safari, etc. Now when I tried to open iPhoto it said I need to upgrade. When I go to the App Store and click update all, I get the following message: "This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or cancelled."
does this mean I can't open the photos I've uploaded or load any new ones? I bought this laptop for school and I'm honestly not a computer guy so this is extremely frustrating and I'm seriously considering just taking this back before my 30 day return window closes because this is nuts.

The iPhoto on that machine belongs to the guy who hocked the machine. If you don't have his ID you'll need to buy iPhoto for yourself.

  • Revert OSX from Mavericks to Mountain Lion

I'm extremely disappointed and annoyed with Mavericks.  Mail isn't working and also having problems with my two additional displays.  System is so sluggish I can't accomplish anything.  How do I revert from Mavericks to Mountain Lion?  Thanks!

Mavericks is extremely zippy I suspect you either have a corrupt install, need to re-index spotlight or had an unstable install of ML to begin with. Once you have updated to Mavericks unless you have a bootable clone with ML still on it  you will have to troubleshoot Mavericks  until you have it right.
However my recommendation is you should probably post on the Mavericks forum and look for solutions there.

  • IPhoto won't open after reinstalling

iPhoto won't open after installing "bundled software only" from the Leopard cd. The thing is that I already had everything installed , I installed the bundled software thinking that it would install the bootcamp in my mac (I know , I'm stupid...It is because I never had a mac..
    What shoud I do?
PS: other program are not working either , iWork and Garage Band.

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Start with the troubleshooting basics:
    1. Repair Permissions using Disk Utility
    2. Delete the com.apple.iPhoto.plist file from the HD/Users/ Your Name / library / preferences folder. You'll need to reset your User options afterwards.
    3. Create a new account (systempreferences -> accounts) and see if the problem is repeated there. If it is, then a re-install of the app might be indicated. If it's not, then it's likely the app is okay and the problem is something in the main account.
    Regards

exe files won't open after downloaded from Safari on my Mac OS X 10.4.11

I use the free Unarchiver: http://unarchiver.c3.cx/unarchiver
I have just tested it on a self-extracting Windows Internet Explorer and it opened it first time on my Mac.
However, as you have been told, normally Windows executable files cannot be opened or used on Macs.

  • IPhoto won't open after iLife update

iPhoto won't open after iLife update.  How get iPhoto to funtion again?

What version of iPhoto? What happens when you try?
There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 9 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Include things like:
    - What version of iPhoto.
    - What version of the Operating System.
    - Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For example, if you have a problem with exporting, then explain by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
    - History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted? - Are there error messages?
    - What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
    - Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have.

  • Mac won't restart after updating to OS X Mountain Lion

Mac won't restart after updating to OS X Mountain Lion. Please help?

Like what happens?  Is it just spinning?
If you've waited sufficiently long (say 10 minutes) you could just hit the power button which will do the trick.  A little more gentle would be to open a terminal window (if you can) and type 'sudo reboot' (without the quotes) and enter your password when it asks.  That will do it too.

  • Downgrade from Mavericks to Mountain Lion

I am considering to downgrade from Mavericks to Mountain Lion, and understand I would loose the maps app and some features... but is it worth it it so I dont have to continuously reboot my mac, so I can use a program every time ?
The problems I am having with mavericks, even when I have done a few tweaks , is that after running a few programs such as mail, safari, garageband  first and then loading photobooth... photobooth or any video app tends to lag , and the video is recorded lagging. A reboot fixes this if i start the program after reboot and not run any programs before.
Another issue is when I am doing my artwork, drawing in photoshop or manga studio... the pen tablet begins to lag as well, so I would have to save my work, reboot and then continue working until Mavericks starts misbehaving again.
This mac had its drive wipped clean before It became my personal mac, and I requested Mountain Lion, since I prefered it, but Mavericks was installed.
I dont mind Mavericks... its just this rebooting to fix or refresh system... is getting annoying when I need to get some artwork done.

My iMac (Intel) is older and Apple told me  this model doesn't handle Mavericks well, recommended I step back to Mountain Lion, which was where Aperture was originally used. Aperture was upgraded when I installed Mavericks, need to go back to older version. How?

Restore backup made prior to upgrade
