My iPod 1g has been dying quickly after 1st sync with iTunes

Hi-
After my first sync with iTunes my 1st Generation iPod has been dying very quickly. And I charge it all night, but when I turn it on it says that I only have 20% battery then maybe 5-10 minutes later it says I have a full battery. What is going on? I bought this iPod used with no mannual. The whole 20% battery issue happened right from the point I got it.
Thanks so much!

Let the battery fully drain. After charging for an hour try a reset (both buttons) and connect to computer and try to restore. If screen is still white you very likely have a hardware problems.

  • TS1363 is it possible to restore files to an ipod, that had been deleted whilst trying to sync with ITunes - 1st time sync???...

Good evening, hopefully you can help a poor fellow in a big problem.  Tried to sync - 1st time - ITunes on a new computer.  Instead of syncing, it wiped all the music files off of my IPod Series 4.  Too make matters a bit more complicated, the IPod has a defective power on/off button, that has dislodged itself and doesn't actually do anything.  Please, tell me that I have not lost all my music, and that it can be restored.  It has not backed up/saved to ITunes on this computer.  Thanks in advance for your help in this most bloody annoying of situations...

So you did not copy your iTunes library from old computer to new computer?
Please, tell me that I have not lost all my music, and that it can be restored.
Do yo u have the old computer with your iTunes on it?
Do you have a backup of that old computer?
Yoo can take the iPod into an Apple store and have them take a look at it.

Place the iOS device in Recovery Mode and then connect to your computer and restore via iTunes. The iPod will be erased.

If you restore from iCloud backup the apps will be automatically downloaded. If you restore from iTunes backup the apps and music have to be in the iTunes library since synced media like apps and music are not included in the backup of the iOS device that iTunes makes.

  • 80 G Video iPod (1.3) is recognized but won't sync with iTunes 8

After updating to Mac OS 10.5.5 and iTunes 8 my 80 G Video iPod (Software version 1.3) won't sync with iTunes 8 at all. That is, it starts syncing and within seconds the dreaded spinning ball appears. After that, the only thing left is to force iTunes to quit.
My iPod is in fact recognized, and I can adjust the settings. But it simply won't sync. So far, I have had no problem syncing my iPhone 3G (2.1).
I've repaired permissions, cleared caches, etc. etc., the works. I've re-apllied the 10.5.5. Combo Updater, re-installed iTunes 8 and as a last resort even resetted my iPod, all to no avail.
Please advise. So far I've seen many similar complaints but, unfortunately, very few answers.

One last thing I can suggest as sort of the Hail Mary pass in case the issue has something to do with the USB ports being messed up...
Do a reset the FW & USB chip sets on the mother board. Unfortunately, when you power down the computer there is always a bit of power still applied to the motherboard to keep things alive and this usually includes the ports to do stuff like detect when a device wants to wake up the computer. The downside of this is when a bus/port chipset goes into a weird state, locks up, etc., simply power cycling (shutdown & restart) the computer won't work.
So first thing to try is resetting the chipset and to do this you have to power down the computer and completely unplug the computer from the wall power (unplug the power cord to your Mac) and also remove the battery from your laptop. Also unplug everything from the Mac's ports (USB, FW, Ethernet, etc.) to make sure no parasitic power is still there to keep the chipset alive. Now let it sit for a minute (give those big power caps in there time to discharge). Now reattach the battery pack, plug the power cord back in, & start up the Mac. Now check and see if your USB ports & iPod work together any better.
    Best of luck!

  • My iPod Touch is not charging and will not sync with itunes

My Ipod touch was feeling really hot and then all of a sudden the screen turned white and started flashing with my apps still open but faded and unaccessible. My screen was a blurry like it looks on tv when you lose connection. Then the ipod kept making the charging noise over and over again and wouldn't charge. It then turned off. Then it put itself on the needs to be charged symbol but it was flashing and then it stopped showing up. I have tried everything-youtube, dfu mode,( it wont even sync to itunes) and it still wont turn on after hours of charging. The screen has been black for hours now. I hope somebody can help me. Thanks.

  • App disappeared after I sync with iTunes

Hi,I recently bought three apps using my iPod touch and after I downloaded them I connected my ipod to sync them to my computer, a couple of days after I deleted two of them from my ipod to make some space to rent a movie. The following day I connected my ipod to itunes to install the apps back to my ipod but I did not find one of them. I have no idea what could have happened. Has anyone experienced something similar, what can I do to get the app back without having to buy it again?

This is the iPhone discussions area, but the same applies in this regard.
If you have Sync Apps selected under your iPod Touch sync preferences with iTunes, after downloading an app with your iPod Touch, the app will be copied to your iTunes library automatically the first time you sync your iPod Touch with iTunes after doing so. Deleting an app from your iPod Touch that is also available in your iTunes library followed by a sync does not delete the app from your iTunes library. The only way to delete an app from your iTunes library is by manually deleting the app from your iTunes library. This cannot be done by syncing your iPod Touch with iTunes.
You can re-download an app and you won't be charged again for a purchased app as long as you use the same iTunes account to re-download the app that was used to purchase the app originally.

  • IPod Classic songs were wiped out - will not sync with iTunes

iPod Classic turned on and has zero music - somehow wiped out.  Will not sync to iTunes - iTunes freezes when iPod is connected but works fine when no iPod connected.  iPod was reset to the original date of 2000 and mostly sits with the apple logo.  iTunes has current version - tried resetting the iPod but iTunes still does NOT recognize the iPod.

Fixed it after some more fiddling - restored iPod from the frist sync a few days back, and then tried again.

  • IPod shuffle= no pref. to stop auto update/sync with itunes 7

If you have an ipod shuffle and you plug it in to your laptop, with your itunes library located on an external drive, itunes 7 will automatically sync the shuffle with itunes 7 and if the ext. drive is disconnected, subsequently erase all songs on the ipod, because it cannot find the itunes library.
    this stinks.
I see no solution, until apple changes or adds a preference like "manually manage music" which seems to be available for other ipods, but not the shuffle:(
even enable disk use doesn't help:

    hmm - curiouser and curiouser
I've now managed to get it to manually update (after iTunes took 100% of system resources and I had to force quit it...) but that still doesn't really help me with the auto-sync feature which still won't work

  • IPod nano 5th gen shows no music when synced with itunes 11

Okay, so ever since i updated to iTunes 11 (windows 7) ive been experiencing this problem, when i sync either one of my ipod nano 5th generation then eject them they show that they have no content on them, no music, photos or anything. the only indication they have data is the little bar that shows how much space is available on the hd.  when reconnected however, everything is still on them and can be accessed and played. ive  updated, restarted and restored the ipod. ive reinstalled itunes. searched the net for similar problems.. nada. then i called apple support, i was very unimpressed... and am now pounding sand per their instruction.
when i connect and restore both ipods on my pc (windows xp) running iTunes 10 and add media, then eject they work just fine. everything shows up and plays proper. but if i sync up on my laptop again i run into the same 'no music' problem. this leads me to think its an issue with software rather than hardware.
Help would be greaaattly appreciated! not having an ipod really drags the day out... thanks!!!

For future reference....There should be a small black triangle next to your iPod's Device Name in the left hand pane of iTunes.  You'll need to click on this one time to open up the submenu to view the content currently stored on the iPod.

I purchased a new computer but my phone still has my old computer in the sync through wi-fi how can I change this?

Thanks for posting this, I have same problem and was just about to ask same question. Any help gratefully received. I have tried to look for the answer on these forums but although I have found the question again there doesnt seem to have been a reply.
I have changed to a mac but on both my phone & my i pad it says will resume sync when (old)PC is available however when i sync both of them on my Mac it appears to do a sync but doesnt say so on i pad or i phone.

  • IPod touch 4g will not back-up when syncing with iTunes

I was wondering why my iPod touch 4g will back-up when syncing in iTunes. I have tried rebooting the iPod and pc, but still no luck. Anyone know how to fix this? Thanks if you can.

What exactly happens when you try to sync?
    Does iTunes see the iPod?
Was the iPod previous synced to another iTunes library/computer?
Have you successfully synced from this iTunes library/computer before?
If so have you done anything like update iTunes on the computer since it last successfully synced?
Do the songs play in iTunes?
Does any media now sync to the iPod?
Do you have the right boxes checked to sync?

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.
