My iPod  4th gen. won't charge or connect to iTunes,What do I do?

My iPod 4g hasn't been recongize by iTunes and it won't charge when it is pluged into my wall or pc.I'm struggling to find a way to fix it.
It has been like this since yesterday and nothing had changed.I plugged it into the wall also and still it won't charge. What should I do?I'm desperate for answers.

After charging for half an hour, reset the iPod and connect the iPod to the syncing computer and try to restore the iPod.
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.o
- If iTunes does not see the iPod, place the iPod in recovery mode and then try to restore the iPOd.  For recovery mode see:

  • (4th gen) Won't charge or connect

My iPod shuffle 4th gen won't connect to my itunes and doesn't seem to charge.  When I plug it in the light will be orange for about 20 seconds.  Also, when I flip around the switch on the top it will sometimes flash red twice.  When I plug my headphones in, I still will get music.
    I'm using itunes 11 and I'm using OS X 10.9 on a 2012 macbook pro.

To add to what has been said, I've tried both USB ports, I have plugged my phone in to both ports to ensure they work.  Also when I plug my shuffle in to my wall it will charge from there.  I have restarted my macbook, and I have to latest version of itunes.

    - Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
    - Try another charging source
    - Inspect the dock connector on the iPod for bent or missing contacts, foreign material, corroded contacts, broken, missing or cracked plastic.

  • My ipod (4th gen) won't charge at all

When I plug it up in the wall or computer the screen will cut on and the apple will show up but right when it is about to show the lock screen it cuts right off again. Now it can barely load to the lock screen. It cuts straight off and repeats this action over and over again. It will also show the low battery sign but still nothing will happen once I plug it up. I also let it sit off the charger for X number of hours then plug it back up. It will show the low battery sign and charge like it normally does but then it shows the apple 5 seconds later then cuts right of again.
What should I do? How do I fix this problem?

It won't charge when attached to my computer using the usb lead and it will not link to itunes. I have some photos on it which  I do not want to lose. What can I do?

Could be a Battery problem... If so you will need to take it in to the Apple Store or AASP...

  • Ipod touch (4th gen) won't charge or connect.

All I get is the drained battery image and the lightening bolt beneath it. I've left it charging for a couple hours now and nothing has changed. I've also done the hard reset to no avail. Is there anything I can do or is it something that I need to send in?

Yes I've read that. I am using an apple wall charger and I have tried 4 different cables with no effect. It has been plugged in for about 5hrs now with no change.

Does anybody know what happens with my ipod???

It can be caused by different things, please check the following one by one:-
    1. Check your firewire cable, is it a faulty one? have you tried another on?
    2. Do a Reset for your iPod and reboot your Mac again
    3. Make sure you turn the insight off, if any
    4. Redo the Restore to factory setting again (using the latest version of iTunes 7.1)

  • HT1510 my iPod shuffle 4th gen won't charge or show up in iTunes

my iPod shuffle 4th gen won't charge or show up in iTunes when i plug it in to the back of the computer and when the off/on switch is halfway it gives me a solid red light on the iPod battery status light for about five seconds does anyone know what to do

If you connect it to the Mac with iTunes NOT running, and run Disk Utility, does it appear in the sidebar as a "disk"?  Also, you can run System Profiler or System Information (depending Mac OS X version).  It is in Applications/Utilities/, but you can also run it from the About This Mac window.  Does the shuffle appear as a device under USB?
The red light when you move the power switch to ON means very low charge in battery.  That probably means the battery is not getting charged when connected.  In terms of hardware, that could mean a bad USB port on Mac, a bad USB cable, or a bad connection on the shuffle.  In any case, power is not getting to the battery.  It might be a bad battery, but if that was the only problem, I think the shuffle would still appear in iTunes when connected.  That's why asked if it appeared in Disk Utility or System Profiler/Information; if it does, the connection is working (even though iTunes does not see it for some reason).
You can make sure the USB port is working by using something else that is similar (like a USB flash drive) on the same port.  If you happen to have another USB cable, you also try to rule out a bad cable.

My ipod touch screen froze on a blank white page and won't let me connect to itunes what to do?

It works for many users. In some cases the white screen is due to a hardware problem and there is nothing that one can do short of getting someonet to know what they are doing and take the iPod apart andmaybe fix the hardware problem.

  • IPod Touch 4th gen will not charge, or sync to iTunes

Hello, I have a 2 year old iPod 4th gen 32 gb.  About a week ago a realized that when a charged it the charging screen did not appear.  I made no big deal about it since it still charged, but then I tried to connect it to my cpu to see if anything changed, nothing did (it also cannot connect to iTunes to my cpu but can connect to the app just fine).  So I went on with it but recently it stopped charging all together.  I'd power it down at night and turn it on in the morning and didn't charge at all past 20% So I powered it down and this image came up.Yes, I have seen this image before but when I plugged it in and got the  charging screen after it died.  But now it cannot get past this screen I left it plugged in all day and it doesn't do anything else.  I can reset it after 10 minutes to wake it up but it dies again almost right away now normally i would just toss this away, since how old it is but I'm getting an iPhone soon and I want to be able to transfer everything over, to the iPhone but it keeps dying before i can do anything.  And I would like to fix it so I could sell it for some cash.

  • Happy New Year and help Please!!! IPOD 4th GEN won't Synch??

    Hello,
And, thanks for reading my question. I recently purchased an IPOD 4th GEN touch from Gamestop. I previously had an ipod that was stolen a few years ago. I had 2000 songs on my itunes and just haven't used it till now.
When I bought the IPOD I ensured that my itunes and ipod were using the most current software. However, it is not synching my music. It will let me start to synch and then go through steps 1&2 of a five step process before it tells me that itunes has encountered a problem and must shut down. There is no specific code it gives me it just asks whether I'd like to send an error report or not.
I have ensured my firewall was off. I restarted the IPOD and computer, and still nothing. Same error message and itunes shuts off. I have installed the latest updates to bonjour and quicktime, restarted, and still no remedy.
I was tempted to uninstall everything but am afraid of losing my music. Only 30-40 songs are in my icloud. I imported the other songs to itunes a long time ago.
Does anyone know how I can get these songs on my ipod? Thanks in advance for any help and Happy New Year to all...

You probably need to set up automatic syncing.  If you do not set it up, it will still "sync" but it will sync nothing.
In iTunes 12, select the iPod so that you see its Summary settings screen (click the "device button" on horizontal bar).  In the iPod's sidebar, under Settings, click Music.  To the right is the iPod's Music settings screen, where you tell iTunes how to sync your iPod.
Check the box for Sync Music.  This enables automatic syncing for songs.  Below that, if your entire iTunes library fits on your iPod, you can choose the option to sync Entire music library.
Otherwise, you can choose to sync Selected playlists, artists, albums, and genres.  Then, select what you want to sync from the lists below.  On convenient way to set this up is to create one or more playlists in your iTunes library with songs just for the iPod.  Or you can use existing playlists.  On the iPod's Music settings screen, find and select (checkmark) just those playlists under Playlists.
When you click Apply, iTunes syncs your iPod with your selection(s) on the iPod's Music settings screen, and keeps it "in sync" automatically.

  • IPad won't charge or connect to iTunes

I've had my iPad for nearly 8months now and up until now it has worked perfectly.
This morning I tried to connect my iPad to my iMac (10.5.8) so that I could sync it with iTunes however the iPad was totally unresponsive. The home screen (that normally lights up when connected) stayed blank and the device did not show up in iTunes.
I've been browsing the discussions all morning and trying various things out but nothing has worked so short of travelling to my nearest Apple shop for help I'm really stuck.
    Here is a list of what I've already tried;
    1. Uninstalled and re-installed latest version of iTunes.
    2. Connected my iPhone 4 (using the same usb, cable etc) and synced that with iTunes without any problems
    3. Reset the default settings on the iPad.
    4. Restarted iPad and iMac numerous times.
    5. Cold re-booted the iPad (holding the home button and power button until the Apple logo appears).
    6. Checked that battery on iPad is over 50% (its actually at 95%).
Hoping someone here can help ... I haven't tried restoring the iPad because if it still won't let me connect to iTunes i wont be able to re-install the backup.

I would have them check out the USB port on the iPad. If you cannot get it to connect with multiple computers and multiple cables, the only thing left is the connector port on the iPad itself.
Try an apple store or call them and see if you can send it in to be repaired/replaced.

  • HT1476 iPhone 4S won't charge or connect to iTunes through cable properly.

Hi, My iPhone 4S is not charging or connecting to iTunes.  Only very sporadically does it charge properly or connect to the computer.  It is always charging a bit however when the cable is connected, but very slowly (approx 1% per hour).  On the odd occasion it does charge properly it all seems fine, but this is very rare.
I have tried several different cables (all original Apple ones).  I have tried charging on different power sockets.  I have tried charging on different computers (both Apple and Regular).  I have also tried charging on a docking station.
I am taking it to an Apple support center this Friday, but urgenly need to sync with iTunes to save all my apps I have bought.  I have not synced for a while.  I have been told I will probably get a new phone, that is why everything needs to be backed up now.  I have already back-up my setting on iCloud, but as far as I am aware this will not back up the actual software.
    Please help.  I am desperate!
    Thanks

    I would restart

and if they didn't help then I would say that the connector of the iphone is defect
