My ipod 5 keeps restarting over and over

I haven't even had my iPod 5 for a year and it's starting to restart by itself over and over again.

First
Try:
- Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restore from backup. See:
iOS: How to back up
- Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
If you can't do the above
Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

Contact Apple Support or an Apple Store if you have one near you. Your battery needs to run through the diagnostic test. You can also try to put the device into Recovery mode as well and rsetore the iOS software, and set up the device as new. Follow this article on Recovery Mode:

Try this - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)

Hello Mo0nangel,
Welcome to Apple Discussions.
First, try updating the iPod software. Follow the steps in this article:
Updating iPod software
If the problem persists, you may have to restore your iPod:
Restoring iPod to factory settings
Unfortunately, restoring will wipe your nano clean of all songs and photos.

If it is a lightning to 30 pin adaptor, and you have a 7th Generation Nano it has to fit the Nano.
This is lightning to 30 pin adapter: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/Apple%26%23174%3B---Lightning-to-30-Pin-Adapter/6651 936.p?id=1218803450821&skuId=6651936#tab=overview
Is this what you bought?
You need to contact Sony and see if they model you have is compatible with the docking adapter. It may not be.

• Why is my iPhone 5 keeps restarting again and again?

my iphone keeps restarting again and again

Woah now that's new! This might be a huge bug in IOS 7.1.1. Can you answer these questions?
1- Are you jailbroken? If yes, what tweaks do you have that make big effects?
2- Is it just turning off & on or is rebooting?
3- Is your off/sleep button broken?
4- Can you get inside the home screen at least for 1 minute without it restarting?
If you can get in the home screen for at least 1 minute, quickly plug on your iPhone into your computer/laptop/etc and back it up using iTunes. Once you've done a backup, restore your iPad to the factory settings. If you cannot, once it turns on again, press & hold QUICKY on the off button and slide the "power off" slide. Once it is shut down, unplug your charger ONLY from your iPhone, not from the computer. Then, press and hold on the home button, while pressing & holding, plug the charger back into your device, you should be in recovery mode. Restore your iPad to the factory settings. If you don't have a backup from before, you won't be able to get back your apps/data/etc. If you do have a previous backup, just restore it usong iTunes once it is reset. :-)

• Ipod keeps restarting over and over again.

i have a question and am new to the site....i've gone throught two ipod classics and both have had the same problem...after like 8 months of use they both started restarting over and over again...i let the battery die and then charged it but when i plug it in it will start up as far as the apple appearing on the screen then it will make a sound and go blank then restart over again..does anyone have any advice on what could of happend or what i an do about it...i'd rather not buy my 3rd ipod...

I had the same problem. Here is the Easy solution;
1) Hold down the middle button and the "menu" button until the screen goes black.
2) As soon as the screen goes black, keep holding the middle button, let go of the menu button and hold the "play" button.
Your ipod will reset. Just plug it up to the computer and restore!

• My new mac won't start up. I uploaded my backup now it just keeps restarting over and over

The warranty entitles you to complimentary phone support for the first 90 days of ownership.
If you bought the product in the U.S. directly from Apple (not from a reseller), you have 14 days from the date of delivery in which to exchange or return it for a refund. In other countries, the return policy may be different. If you bought from a reseller, its return policy applies.

• Ipod Touch keeps restarting after "red slider" shutdown...and other issues?

Hi There...I'm considering returning my Ipod Touch and thought I'd see if anyone else was experiencing similar issues before I do anything drastic. I purchased a second generation Ipod Touch in December (2.2.1 update) and everything seemed to be working well for a while. I guess it was sometime in January that I noticed my ipod restarting itself after shutdown (red slider)...almost every single time. I simply CAN NOT shut down my ipod when I want to. It does shut down temporarily, then...sometimes seconds, sometimes minutes later...it restarts on it's own.
I've reset all settings, and I've tried turning off wifi (which seemed to work temporarily), but now it's doing it again. I've heard that if you continue to hold down the sleep/wake button while you slide the red slider to "off" it will cause the ipod to restart...so I'm wondering if maybe there's something wrong with the button? Sometimes it seems like if I fiddle with the button (pulling up on it and such), it will allow me to shut it down...but this could be coincidence. I've seen a posting on another mac forum outlining a similar problem but there were no replies. Can anyone offer any other suggestions?
Also, I've been experiencing volume issues with my Ipod...sometimes there's just no volume while songs, youtube videos, etc. are playing. The "progress"(?) bar shows that audio/video is playing, but there is no sound (and yes...the volume is turned up). Seems to happen most often when the headset is plugged in...but that's how I use it most of the time. I do hook it up to an older tuner/amp with a 1/8" to RCA Y-cord, and with a 1/8" - 1/8" cord in my truck and it's cut out then as well.
Both problems seem to be getting worse I only have a few apps on the Ipod (aside from music, podcasts, and some mp4 video) and can list them if anyone thinks this might be the issue. I'd really appreciate any suggestions.
Thanks,
M.P.

Thanks for your input, but as far as I understand, this restarting issue is definitely not normal for the Ipod touch. Nowhere online or in the provided literature does it say that the ipod is supposed to automatically restart after shutdown. Ignoring the problem by not shutting it down at all is like saying your broken car is fixed because you're not going to drive it anymore! LOL!
Anyhow, this is a relatively small problem now compared to the volume issues which are occurring with greater and greater frequency. It's gotten to the point where I can no longer even listen to a full song from the album I just bought from itunes! This "cutting out" occurs with and without (listening through internal speaker) headphones attached (several different pairs tested) and while hooked to an audio tuner with a high quality cable. I've blown out the jack on the ipod with compressed air to dislodge any possible dust or debris, and have followed the trouble shooting procedures as outlined in the apple support document. The symptoms lead me to believe that this is not so much simply "a volume issue" as it is a symptom of a much larger problem. The volume slider has now started to jump around on it's own after the volume has cut out, and the song continues to play. I have experienced so many problems (not all listed hear) and have heard so many complaints about the ipod touch, that I'm starting to seriously reconsider my purchase...and I'm a huge Mac fan! I haven't abused my Ipod...if anything I'm over cautious with it.
Could this be software related? Something that will be sorted with an update in a few weeks time?Has anyone experienced or successfully resolved any of the issue that I've listed here - or am I on my own? I'm guessing maybe I should just bring it back...
Best,
M.P.

I JUST got it today. I am restoring it right now but as its plugged in it keeps rstarting and showing the Apple logo. Please help!
