  • Ipod Touch Keeps Going Into Recovery Mode

Hi, I've had an Ipod touch for about 6 months now and haven't really had any problems with it to date. Recently (around the time I installed the 1.1.3 firmware), it seems to be randomly going into recovery mode.
When I plug it into my imac, Itunes says it detected an ipod in recovery mode, and I have to restore it. During the restore process the screen lights up with apple logo and spinning wheel, it says successful restore. But the ipod doesn't restart... just goes straight back into recovery mode. It usually takes about 2 or 3 restore attempts before it works properly. I resync and everything goes back to normal for a few uses. Then I go to turn it on and nothing... itunes just tells me to restore again.
Anyone else seen this issue before? I'm pretty sure the batteries aren't flat (since when it finally does restore, they usually start around half full... and I've tried leaving it on the charger for a few hours to no avail). And I only turn wifi on when I need it (usually turned off). I've tried pretty much everything I can find in the help files (hold button, hold+power, hold while connecting to itunes, nothing seems to wake it up... just black screen until a successful restore happens)...
    Thanks in advance...

I had the same problem with my Touch but it started the first day. It was also doing weird things like telling me the battery was full then half an hour later warn me there was only 10% left. It got better for a while but long syncs with iTunes usually threw it into restore mode again.
I finally brought it to the Apple store nearby and they were able to recreate the problem when they tried a sync on their machine. They told me it was a hardware issue and did an exchange right there. I have heard bringing it to an Apple Store will increase your chances of an exchange. Sending it in may or may not get you a new one. Good luck.

  • My iPod Touch is stuck in DFU Mode

    Hi,
My Third Generation iPod Touch is stuck in DFU Mode (Completely Black Screen) and I cannot exit it as I have a broken Sleep/Wake button on the iPod. Even worse, iTunes will not see the device so I can restore it.
The only thing that I can think of is to wait until it's battery has completely drained and then restore it.
    Please help me!

Try placing the iPod in recovery mode using one of these programs and then restoring:
    For PC
RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode
    or
    http://joshuabailey1997.wordpress.com/2010/09/02/recboot-v1-3/
    If necessary:
    Download QTMLClient.dll & iTunesMobileDevice.dll for RecBoot
    and
    RecBoot tip
RecBoot may have problems on 64X windows, then try:
Tenorshare ReiBoot – Enter & Exit iPhone, iPad, iPod Recovery Mode with a Single Click
    For MAC or PC
    The Firmware Umbrella - TinyUmbrella
    Installs blootware on PC too

  • Mac Pro randomly goes into sleep mode

My (mid 2010) Mac Pro, OS X.6.8, randomly goes into sleep mode and I can't wake it, have to power it off and reboot. Just started to the best of my knowledge Friday (Jan 6, 2012) I've had it happen surfing the web in Safari, while working on an illustration in Adobe Illustrator, while running Apple Hardware Test, using 23" LCD connected by HDMI and DVI-D, Disconnected monitor and connected 12" Cintiq (LCD Tablet).
The monitor goes black, says "there's no signal coming from your computer", none of the keys will wake it. I have to hold down the power button until it turns off then power it back up. The time between the sleeps varies, 38min, 1hr 34min, 5min, 2hr 17min, 12min, etc. I disconnected everything (except keyboard, mouse, monitor) still the same. Opened and removed the ATI Radeon HD 5870, and noticed the PRAM battery, replaced it with a new one, thought that fixed it, worked for a long time then it happened again.
Tried Apple Hardware Tester again, it said everything is fine, ran it again an error popped up: 4SNS/1/40000000:Te1S-99.364, wrote it down then it slept.

The next time this happens open your mac and see if there is still a fan running.  If so you are not sleeping, you are in a thermal cutoff.  Keep you mac cover off.
Now reboot as you always do.  Take a look at the fan in your 5870.  Is it spinning?  If so, try to keep an eye on it and see if you can "catch" it not spinning.
When the fan doesn't start, or if it does then stops, the card will overheat and the machine will go into thermal cutoff.  The amount of time is variable.
I speak from experience.  I am currently on my third 5870 video card.  Both the previous two had this fan problem.  The only wrinkle in my theory for you is that I wouldn't expect more that, say, 15 minutes of up time at the most, not hours like you got.  But it may be that your card is starting ok, but stops sometime later.   I chalk it up to the lousy fans Nvidia uses in the 5x70 cards.
FWIW, if you happen to catch the fan stopped before the machine goes into thermal cutoff you can give it a little nudge with your finger to get it going again.
I recommend one of the various temperature monitors.  I use iStat Menus and display some key temps in my menu bar.  Of course after going through two of these cards I am a bit paranoid!
    Some other temperature monitors:
    iStat Pro
    Temperature Monitor
    Hardware Monitor
Note, after typing all this I also realized you got a AHT 4SNS error. I would run AHT again to see if you get that error again.  If so that means "Check Main Logic Board" and you may have a more serious hardware problem than just a video card!  So my other recommendation is that when you machine fails again look inside for any lit diagnostic leds.  There's some near the dimms but there are others on the board as well.

  • TS1538 i hanve an i phone 2g and it is stuced in recovery mode it is not going in dfu mode it is purchased from usa what shoud i do??

i hanve an i phone 2g and it is stuced in recovery mode it is not going in dfu mode it is purchased from usa what shoud i do??

If it's an original iPhone, you may as well dispose of it responsibly and buy a new phone. Apple stopped servicing them a while ago.

  • Iphone 3g randomly goes into recovery mode all the time?

I have an Iphone 3g version 4.3.5 (8L1). It works fine and i've never dropped it or anything like that. But the first time the problem happened i had just got done sending a text, pushed the lock button, and put it in my pocket. Then a few minutes later i pulled it out to check it and it wouldnt turn on. I held the lock button down and the connect to itunes icon came up, but nothing else. No emergency call option or anything. it wouldnt go away. i connected to itunes and it said it was in recovery mode. I tried to restore it but it came up with an error. i left it and tried again later. i restored but some things were erased. then it worked fine again. but later that night it did it again. so i just plugged it into the charger. in the morning i tried turning it back on again and it turned on without the connect to itunes icon. worked fine all day. but it does this every now and then. when i plug it in it goes back to normal after 10-20 mins. its annoying tho and if im not home my fone is stuck like that until i get back. why does it keep randomly going into recovery mode?

    1.  The latest iOS version available for the iPhone 3G is 4.2.1, not 4.3.5.  Do you actually have an iP3GS or was your iP3G hacked to install 4.3.5?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3939
    2.  "I tried to restore it but it came up with an error."  What EXACT error?
    3.  "i restored but some things were erased"  What "things"?  Did you get an error again.  Were you restoring as new or using a backup?
    4.  Did you ever restore the phone as NEW without using a backup?

  • Everytime I try to restore a backup on my iPhone 5 from iTunes the phone goes in DFU mode and stay stuck

i backed my phone up on itunes and then I changed the battery on my own. the problem is that I can set the phone as a new one but when I try to restore a backup it goes on DFU mode and stay stuck. What can I do?

Once you opened the device you voided any post-warranty support from Apple or the forum. You are on your own. You can try a 3rd party repair facility, but you cannot get any help here or from Apple.

  • Iphone 3g goes into DFU mode by it's self

    hi guys
my iphone 3g goes into DFU mode by it's self is there someone who knows what should i do for it?
by the way i made a restore and updates and everything possible i thought maybe there was an application pushing it to go in dfu mode so i left only the necessary apps but still the same it goes off when someone calls me they hear the ringing like if it's on i connect it to the pc and it's detected as dfu mode!!

from a back up of course otherwise i'll loose all my informations as contacts, mails,...etc
to be more clear last thing i did is:
it was running on os 4.0 so i did update it to 4.2 then restored it from the back up

  • My new macbook pro retina randomly goes into standby mode

My new macbook pro retina randomly goes into standby mode. I have to close the screen and wait a few seconds and re-open it in order for it to come back on.
Sometimes it immediately goes back into standby mode again after closing and reopening the screen. I have checked the battery level everytime, and it has never been below 40% when this occurs. Is this a Mountain Lion issue?

    Well I fixed my problem.
I took it into the Apple store. Even without the other two monitors they were able to recreate the problem. One symptom (I had) was that one of the Hot Corners was set to Disable screen saver. If you then put your cursor there, you'd go into screen saver mode. Change the setting to another corner and the problem follows you there.
The Apple person at the Genius bar logged out as me and back in as test and same problem. He tried some stuff and finally said I needed to wipe the drive and reinstall the OS (Lion). I'd only had the machine for 12 hours and had just migrated my data to it, so I didn't mind doing that. I did it at home.
    Problem solved.
BUT... then I reinstalled the driver for my EVGA UV Plus 19 (most current drivers) and bingo problem back. Uninstall. Problem gone. I'm now using mini display port to DVI for one monitor and HDMI for the other I think the machine is a bit warmer this way (versus using a USB to the EVGA device) but at least it's not sleeping all the time. Someone might say "it (the heat) is your imagination" or something else. Or someone might say "use the other thunderbolt port for another mini-display port to DVI" but I need that for the LAN... c'est la vie.
Maybe I'll write to evga and see what they say. Maybe they'll fix their driver and/or Apple will fix it.

  • Ipod volumes randomly goes up and down

okay in my ipod i randomly have a problem where i'll be listening to a song and the volume will like control itself, i sware im not touching the ipod when its doing this. it goes either up and down for at least 30 secs before it stops. it happened again today for about the fifth time and was wondering why its doing this.

I have this problem as well. Just got the iPod video on Thursday, worked for a day, then started doing the volume jumping thing. Then I tried playing the Superman clip from iTunes Store, and it froze it. I tried turning it off, to no avail. Then I tried doing the reset. No luck. I tried restoring on the computer. Locked up my computer hardcore.
This is my 2nd person iPod, 5th in the family. first to have this sort of issues.
It's going back, for an exchange. This one's buggy.

  • IPod Touch blank screen in DFU mode

Hello. I have an iPod Touch 2G with software 2.2.1. Recently, I shut it down and restarted it, but nothing appears on the screen. I tried to put it in DFU mode and iTunes can see it, but I do not want to restore everything. I would be devastated. Please help! Thanks!

Yep it looks like you'll probably have to do a restore. YAY! Don't worry if you've sync'ed your iPod over it will automatically back up all of your stuff and after a restore will ask you if you would like to restore from the backup. Just select your latest backup and click restore and it will be exactly how you left it after the sync is complete. So to get started just put the Pod into DFU like you did originally. You will have iTunes say an iPod has been detected in recovery mode... blah blah blah so just hit ok. Next you will see the restore button in the iTunes window. Hold down the option key and click on restore (Shift+click if you're on Windows). You will be presented with a drop down window. In there navigate to...
    /Users/"YOUR ACCOUNT"/Library/iTunes/iPod Software Updates/
In there you should see iPod2,13.1.2_7D11Restore.ipsw if your on 3.1.2 and it is a 2nd gen touch
    OR
iPod1,13.1.2....ipsw if your on 3.1.2 and it is a 1st gen touch
Select the appropriate firmware file and hit choose.
It'll say extracting and do the normal stuff.
When that is over. You will be presented with the iPod setup page and it will ask to setup as a new iPod or restore from backup. This is where you click restore from backup and select the LATEST backup you have (It'll come up in a window with all the backups that have been performed). The iPod will sync for a while depending on how much stuff you had on it. YES THIS INCLUDES EMAILS, SITES, APPS, MUSIC and all the other stuff. So it'll pretty much be exactly how you left it.

  • My laptop randomly goes into sleep mode

I'll randomly be on a site or listening to music and then all of a sudden it goes into sleep mode. I'm very aware that it goes to sleep while you've been away from your computer, but it'll go into sleep mode while I'm using the computer. I changed the power setting so that it takes longer to get into sleep mode thinking that would help, but it doesn't. I ignored it at first but it happens more often now and its getting annoying. Sometimes I'll move the mouse pad to wake it back up and it sounds like its going to come back, bit it just goes to sleep again. Its really annoying and frustrating and I don't know what's wrong with it. Anyone have any idea what's wrong with it and how to fix it? My warranty expired this passed March and I can't afford to get it fixed.

"I put a new anti virus on my computer and the sleep mode problem didn't happen after I removed hazardous files on my computer."
Go to any good anti Virus removal forum, SpyBot S&D, Bleeping Computer, others, and start a thread.
They probably will want you to run a DDS log, ERUNT, follow there instructions!
The forum Volunteers that assist you on these sites are busy and it may take up to 3 days for them to start your thread, have patience, they will help.
You may have inadvertently removed/modified part of your operating system (keylogger/screencapture) when removing the malware.
Do not just rely on a recovery point!
Hope you have recovery disks made, and/or a mirror image.

  • IPod Touch 3g stuck in DFU mode

Okay so this seems to be interesting issue to me. i have an iPod Touch 3rd gen 32 gb and its stuck in dfu mode or "recovery" mode.  when i hook it into my computer it recognized as a iPhone in recovery mode and when i go to restore it it gives me a message saying "Software for this iphone is not currently available make sure you have the latest version of itunes and try again." i was using it two days ago and it worked fine i put it in my pocket and then went to go use it and i thought it was dead then i realised it had this issue. both a mac and a pc running the newest itunes gave me this error. is there any known way of fixing this issue?

    Same thing happend to me
Try holding down the lock and home button for about 10 sec, that seemed to work on mine.
