My ipod 5 won't turn on at all no matter what i try

my ipod 5 won't turn on at all no matter what i try.
even though I try to charge it it wont charge and it wont turn on.

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try another cable
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • My ipod mini wont turn on at all no matter what i try

I've tried toggling the hold button while holding down the menu and select buttons, and i've tried a few other things that i have been told to in the situation that my ipod wont turn on, but none of them will work. right now it's hooked up to the usb cable on my computer, and it has been for the last couple days. i think all this might be because ive been too lazy to click eject before i unhook it a couple of times before, but i dont know.

It seems you are not performing the reset correctly. Don't worry about the hold switch...just press and hold menu and select simultaneously for about 6 seconds until you see the Apple logo appear. If you have an AC adapter, plug the iPod into the wall socket using this and then try the reset.

Bad idea! You should always eject it properly or you risk corrupting the hard drive...it would be a shame to have to fork out for another iPod just because of laziness!

  • My iPod Touch 4gen turn on or reset no matter what I try?

My iPod Touch won't start no matter what I try. For a while it wasn't being used and when I tried it wouldn't turn on. I tried charging it thinking it just might be dead but nothing still. Plugging it into the computer doesn't help neither. Also when Iplug it in iTunes does not open up like if it's responding to a device. I've tried the holding down the home botton and power down for seconds but again nothing.

Turn your phone off and connect your cable to the computer, but not the device just yet. Start up iTunes. Now, hold down the home button on your phone and plug it in to the cable - don't let go of the button until iTunes tells you it's detected a phone in recovery mode. Now you can restore to factory settings.

My iPod touch 5th generation just stopped working out of the blue. It won't turn on and has nothing but a black screen. It won't charge or connect to iTunes either. I can't restart it because my home button does not work either. How do I turn it back on? Please help fast!

  • My Ipod won't turn on at all

So my Ipod had been acting weird, turning off unexpectedly, then it started being normal again, after a few hours it said that I needed to restore it, so I plugged it in and restored it. Then this white screen came up on the Ipod and it wasn't being picked up as being plugged in by Itunes or my computer. I unplugged it and hit buttons, switched the hold key on and off trying to get it to do something. It didn't so I set in down for a bit. Now it is off, there is nothing on the screen and it won't show up when I plug it in, and it won't turn on. Help would be much appreciated, thanks (:

You may need to reset it. Put
the hold switch to the OFF/White position. Now toggle
it ON/orange then back off again. Then press and hold
both the MENU and center buttons on the iPod and hold
them for a good 10 seconds or so. Your iPod should
reboot starting with the Apple Logo screen.
Repeat a couple times if it doesn't work the first
time and hold the two buttons down longer on the
    second try.

Thank you so much, I tried a little bit more and it worked!

  • My iPod won't turn on at all, HELP!

A couple of hours ago, I was sitting on my bed listening to music on my iPod Touch, and browsing on Safari on my iPod Touch.
Then I start to hear my music skipping, and the screen froze up. I tried pressing the power button a few times, and the home button a few times, but nothing worked; the music still skipped and the screen was still frozen.
I've had problems with my iPod before, like how i'll be on Safari, and then my iTouch would just exit out of the window. Along with how my Wi-fi will have a strong connection, but doesn't allow me to connect to YouTube or iTunes.
Should I go to an Apple store for help? Or is there something that I can do myself?
    Thanks,
    Malia

    nevermind,
my friend told me that all I need to do is hold the home & power button.
    (:

  • Ipad 2 won't update to ios 5 no matter what I try

I've literally tried everything, I've deleted my itunes twice to make sure I had itunes 10.5. Then everytime I go a try and updat it will take almost 4 hrs and once at 3/4 of the download it will say I have a network issue and go back to zero. I just bought this Ipad in august and I have no clue what to do please help!

If you are getting a network timeout error then try temporarily turning off your firewall and antivirus software until the download has completed. If that doesn't work then you could try downloading it via a browser : https://discussions.apple.com/message/16436025#16436025

My 1st generation Ipod touch won't turn on at all and whenever I press the buttons to reset it all I get is a white screen, or a white screen with black lines across.Help pleaseeeeee!

You can work through the five 5 R's of troubleshooting to rule out the possibility of corrupted software.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipod/service/prices/
Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.
