  • IPod Touch (5th Gen) Battery Won't Hold Charge

After the last update my iPod Touch 5th Gen will not hold a charge. I haven't had any problems with it until this 8.1.1 update. Yesterday I charged the battery up to full charge and  used it briefly to listen to music in my car however here it is the next day and the battery is dead again. It is NOT playing while not in my car. Meaning nothing should be running the battery down because it's not being used.  I know it's not playing because the volume is set to half way so I'd undoubtedly hear it if it was playing.  It just won't hold a charge and for no apparent reason. Any suggestions?

  • Kenwood X991 & iP200 cable with iPod 5th Gen 80GB does NOT work correctly

I have a conundrum. My wife has the 4th Gen v1.2.1 iPod 30GB which works fine on my Kenwood X991 Head Unit. I recently purchased the "new" 80GB iPod 5th Gen with the latest version "1.0.2" which does NOT work properly. The iTunes software tells me that this 1.0.2 is the latest software.
When I attach my iPod to my stereo, it states "Reading" for eternity. It DOES play music but only plays Alphabetical Order ONLY. There is no ability to stop, change, fast-forward, reverse, etc....the only thing you can do is click "Source" to change to CD Player or Tuner, etc...
Does anybody out there know what is going on? I have a request into Kenwood as well. Thanks in advance for all your help!
    -Kingofbytes

Thanks for the help. It's an iPod Classic then 80GB. The unit plays when plugged in but does not allow searching, or switching songs nor displays as it is supposed to. My wife's 30GB works with no problems. Of note:
    Her 30GB = v1.2.1
    My 80GB = 1.0.2
Mine is newer by about 6 months. Both are the latest software according to the screen.
Kenwood has said to "reset the head unit" and "make sure I've got it plugged in properly". I need to try the reset part next but the last statement is funny to me. I can install a head unit, amplifier, re-run all speaker wire, install a Dual 10" subwoofer box, solder and wire tie all connections from a factory unit to a 3rd party Cable manager kit, but I need to "make sure" I know how to plug in an iPod cable.....laughable.

  • IPod 5th gen headphone jack not working

I Have the iPod 5th gen and only today the headphone jack has stopped working. When I plug the headphones in it is as if the iPod just doesn't see them and carries on playing music from the iPods speakers and not the headphones. I have no clue what it is doing or any idea on how to fix it.

Hey Katie, as Philly Phan has stated there is a tiny switch inside the headphone port. If it gets stuck open your iPod will think the headphones are plugged in. The plugging / unplugging generally will free the switch. Also, try looking inside the port, your looking for foreign debris, like lint, if you see something try blowing it out or carefully remove it with a wooden round toothpick. Good luck, Cheers.

  • Battery will not hold a charge

My ipad 3 will not hold a charge on the battery, it has been pluged into the wall, using the provided wall charger, since noon. Now, it is 5pm and the battery is only around 40%. The iPad is still under the 1 year warrenty. Will apple replace the battery if the digitizer screen is broken? (it has a slight crack) Or is my warrenty void?

You will need to take the iPad to Apple, the screen and battery are two different problems, but they could be related.  Apple will need to make that determination.  It will be very difficult to replace your battery without breaking the digitizer if it has a small crack.

  • My macbook pro battery is not holding a charge...what do I do?

So, suddenly, literally the last two days, my Macbook will not hold a charge.  Within about an hour or two of use, the battery drops 30%.  Previously, I could use it for several days before the charge dropped; it would take a week to go from 100% to critical and it was on all the time.  The computer is about a year and a half old (so to speak).  The closest Apple Store is almost 300 miles away.
Is there something I can do?  Install/uninstall items?
Thanks for any and all help.

Install the free Battery Health utility available on the App Store. It will tell you how much battery capacity you have left, compared to the official charge capacity when new, plus will let you monitor in-use battery drain, that will let you learn and use power management techniques to maximize runtime.
For instance, mine shows up after 32 cycles and 7.5 months of life as having 102% of max official capacity (6990 of 6900 mAh), which translates for me to around 6 hours of usage on the average, but which I can stretch out to 7 or 7.5 in a pinch. Guess I got lucky with it, cause when brand new it arrived with a 7160 mAh capacity Yours being a 13" model will show up with a smaller battery capacity.

  • HT1477 Ipod Shuffle Gen 4. Not holding charge.

So my Ipod isnt holding its Charge. I just got a new Gen 4 Shuffle for Christmas. And it keeps on not holding charge. I had it on charger Saturday, my computerdid not go to sleep. Had a green light. Turn it on today, and its flashing red. What is going on?

    Hello shadowknightpaladin
If you are using the new layout and selecting your iPod shuffle to setup syncing, the battery charge should be right underneath your iPod shuffle name. Also you can see a charge if you bring the Sidebar back, then you can see it next the iPod shuffle name. Don’t forget that you can look at your iPod shuffle to see your charge status.

  • IPod 5th Gen Battery Dying Quickly!?!

I have a U2 Special Edtn 5th Gen iPod Video.
I have calibrated the battery correctly. Anyways, my iPod was completely charged. I plugged it into the TV to watch a movie. I didn't get 2 hours and it was dead. In previous experiences my battery would last for almost double the suggested movie playing time because the lcd isn't in use when playing to the TV. I would get at LEAST through a movie or two.
Also, after listening to music one night for about an hour or two the battery was down to about 50%.
Sound like my battery is getting toasted?

Unfortunately taking it back to the store is not really an option given that I bought it in Orlando, FLA, and am now in Edinburgh, Scotland!
It does charge fully and when playing music the battery doesn't seem to go down any quicker than it should. Its when I go to play it again after it being off for 24 hours and find the battery is flat that I can't understand??
You think its definitely defective? I will try a few things out before I consider returning it to Apple as that would be an almighty hassle I suspect?

  • IPod 5th Gen. froze, shutdown, and won't charge how do I fix it?

Please help me figure out what to do to fix my iPod 5th Generation. I put it on the charger, and when I came to check on it, it froze, then shutdown, now it won't charge or nothing. I tried rebooting it an nothing happened, please help me!

All you need to do to solve this problem is to hold down the lock and home buttons at the same time and count slowly to 15. That's called a hard reset and it should reboot the phone out of the black screen funk. Give it a try - it should work. If it doesn't, bring it to the Apple Store. Good luck!

  • Battery life seems short or the battery does not hold a charge, seems to drain quickly or does not last as long as expected.

    Solved!

IMPORTANT Notes while charging your Reader device:
It is recommended to charge the Reader using the supplied AC Adapter. When using the AC adapter to charge your Reader device, the lightning bolt symbol that appears next to the battery icon [FIG. 1] on the display of your Reader device is an indication that it is connected to AC power and is charging the battery properly. If the lightning bolt symbol is not present, double check the AC Adapter to ensure that your Reader device is properly connected. This symbol does not appear while charging via a USB connection.
If you charge via a USB connection and leave your Reader Digital Book connected to the computer to charge and the computer goes into sleep/hibernation, charging will stop and the red charge indicator on the Reader will turn off. If left connected, your battery may begin to discharge. To avoid this, turn off any sleep/hibernation settings while charging or set your sleep or hibernation settings to come on after your Reader Digital Book has been charged and then disconnect it from the computer once charging has completed.
It will take approximately 4 hours to achieve a full charge with a computer. It will take approximately 2 hours to achieve a full charge with the optional AC Adapter.
If your Reader Digital Book is left connected to a powered USB hub while the computer is shut down, your battery may begin to discharge. Disconnect your Reader from the hub when the computer is not powered on.
Always verify that your Reader is fully charged by disconnecting it from the computer and checking the battery indicator. The battery indicator will display 4 black bars when it is fully charged
On a full charge, the battery has the capability of up to 7,500 continuous page turns. Actual battery life will vary based on usage patterns, settings and battery conditions. When the Reader is turned on, off, or a page is marked, battery power is used, thus lowering the expected battery life.
NOTE: When storing the Reader for a long period of time, use the Device Shutdown feature in the Advanced settings menu. After using Device Shutdown, it may take approximately 30 seconds for the Reader to start the next time the Reader is turned on.
Playing audio will reduce the battery life. If you did not start audio play back intentionally, confirm audio is not playing. You will not hear playback unless headphones are connected. Audio playback will continue until it is stopped by turning it off from the Now Playing menu. To see if audio is playing, press the HOME button and then press the OPTION button. If Now Playing is displayed in the dialogue box that appears, tap Now Playing and this will take you to the song that is playing. Press the Pause button to stop playback of that song and then press the HOME button.
    NOTES:
Due to the nature of the E Ink electronic display technology, the LCD can retain an image without having power. Turning the page is the only time power is consumed. If the Reader's power is drained, the LCD will retain the last image that was displayed, thus making it appear like the Reader is frozen and in some instances it will not have enough power to perform other operations such as turning on or off.
Battery life can be affected by operating temperatures below 41 degrees F, lack of use, or if the battery has not been given enough time to fully charge.
As with any battery, if the Reader is stored for an extended period of time, the battery will discharge on it's own. Therefore, it may be necessary to charge the battery prior to use.
If the Reader has not been used for an extended period of time, repeatedly charging and discharging will improve the efficiency of the battery.
If the battery life still seems short, the battery may need to be replaced.

Although my middle button is stuck and you have to press it hard it has always responded and worked when you pressed it.! Please help me I need this iPod to start working!!!

Very confusing post - Do you have an iPod Touch as listed in the header or an iPod Classic?
To Reset, you must press the menu and center button for at least 10 secs or till the Apple Logo comes ON.
When you connect to a wall charger or PC, what do see on the iPod Screen?
