My ipod 6th generation is in recovery mode?

Hello so when I have tried to plug my ipod nano 6th generation into itunes, it would sync but on the ipod it would say syncing but with a white background. Then I tried restoring it(because of previous issues) and it said that the ipod was in recovery mode and it would need to restore it before it could be used in itunes. Do you have any guesses as to why this is happening?

Are you really running Windows 98? I sure hope not. :S
I have noticed a few others with the same problem the past couple of weeks. Many of them were able to resolve the issue by doing a low level reformat of the iPod's flash storage using the instructions in this article.

Are any other devices connected via USB to your Windows PC?  If so, disconnect them and reboot your PC. Then reconnect your iPod to see if that makes any difference.

Disk mode ive gone into but i dont really know whats supposed to happen after i plug it in. I have added songs to my library after my old ipod broke and before i got the new one if that makes a difference. My old ipod (6 generation) worked fine on my labtop with no troubles at all so im ripping my hair out trying to figure out what i need to do.

If one of these programs will not kick the iPod out of recovery mode then you will have to restore and thus erase the iPod

  • My iPod touch is stuck in recovery mode and won't restore?

Okay my Ipod Touch is stuck in recovery mode and will not restore because "the ipod software update server cannot be contacted". I have tried to restart my computer, restart my ipod, tried different computers, and re-intalled AND updated my itunes and it still will not restore. It is stuck on the picture of the usb cable pointing to itunes and won't do anything else. I'm trying to restore it because my memory was full and I wanted to clean it out and now the ipod is useless, please help me restore it!

    Update Server
    Try:
    - Powering off and then back on your router.
    - iTunes for Windows: iTunes cannot contact the iPhone, iPad, or iPod software update server
    - Change the DNS to either Google's or Open DNS servers
    Public DNS — Google Developers
    OpenDNS IP Addresses
    - For one user uninstalling/reinstalling iTunes resolved the problem
    - Try on another computer/network
    - Wait if it is an Apple problem

  • IPod Touch 4g stuck in recovery mode and lock button broken

A few days ago my lock button stopped functioning, and seeing as I'm not brave enough to try and fix it myself and I haven't been able to take it to get fixed anywhere yet, I just enabled the internal lock button feature and, frankly, hoped for the best. This afternoon I connected it to iTunes because after updating to iOS 6 too many things have been going wrong. There was an error message (I can't remember which one :S) but stupidly I decided to restore it (mainly in the hope that iOS 6 would sort itself out I guess). Once it had finished extracting files, there was another error message, which again I can't remember, but it was something along the lines of iPod cannot be restored basically. Then it went into recovery mode, and I've been unplugging, plugging in, shutting down my computer and all sorts of things all evening. As far as I can tell, the only way out of recovery mode is to hold the lock button and the home button down for thirty seconds ish until the apple logo comes up. Except my lock button doesn't work. I guess I'll just try and get it fixed this weekend but if there are any other solutions that would be awesome! Thanks!

    - Let the battery fully drain and try again to restore after charging for at least an hour.
    - Try on another computer
    - See if you can cycle the iPod in and out of recovery mode with:

Not possible, and since the Restrictions Passcode is included with your iPhone's backup, you must restore the iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup.
