My iPod being a piece of...

2nd time posting this.
I need an answer and solution!!!
I have had my mini for almost a year now and for the last month it's beenacting up.
I admit to accidentally dropping it a few times but nothing ever happened until like 2 day later.
I was listening to it and I had it on shuffle and it kept skipping to the next song. Then when I went to menu and it was freezing so I reset it and then all I ever got for a month was an apple sign and a sad iPod face. I tried to charge it but nothing happened.
For the longest time, I assumed I needed to replace the battery.
So today I was messing around with it and pressing buttons when it went into disk mode saying it was safe to disconnect but it wasn't hooked up on my computer so I connected it and it showed up in disk mode. Hallejuah! And it appeared in iTunes.
But... it said it was corrupt and needed to be reset to main settings but I don't want to do that because I will lose all of the music on it. I don't want to lose the music because I had my computer reformatted recently and lost all 900-1000 songs. So I disconnected it.
But now it still shows "Do Not Disconnect" and it won't go away. I reconnected it but now it won't show up on my computer. And now the battery is neary drained.
HELP ME!!!!!!!!!!!

Once it has been completed, you have to deal with the songs skipping problem which likely caused by the bad sector on the HD of your iPod
For Window computer
Go to folder “My Computer”
Hope you can see your iPod there and right click on the iPod
Choose “Format”. Ensure the settings are at “Default” and that “Quick Format” is not checked
Now select “Format”
Eject your iPod and do a Reset
Open the iTunes 7 and click “Restore”

  • Question about Mini-iPod being full......

How do you know when your Mini-iPod is full? Will the screen say so? I have a problem with transferring songs and I'm wondering if the iPod being full is the reason why it's not transfering. Right now it's has about 480 songs (it's supposed to hold 1000) and before I upload I always convert them to that other format (I forgot what it's called), not mp3.

Well, you can always check your left space direct from your iPod (Menu/Settings/About) or from iTunes (when sync, on the bottom of the page). I don't know if appears a message when you have no more space...

  • I've installed iTunes 10.2.1 but my computer doesn't recognise the hardware certificate and denies it, and the installation isn't complete. This results in my iPod being unrecognised. Please help me! My system is a Windows XP.

I've installed iTunes 10.2.1 but my computer doesn't recognise the hardware certificate and denies it, and the installation isn't complete. This results in my iPod being unrecognised and so, it cant synchronize with iTunes. Please help me! My system is a Windows XP.

Malware can cause digital signing issues, I would run a malware check with the free version of MalwareBytes:
    http://www.malwarebytes.org/
After that, the is a Microsoft fixit for:
The software you are installing  has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows   XP. (Tell me why this testing is important.)
This software will not be  installed. Contact your system administrator.

It might be worth trying it.

I have a brand new Ipod classic (Christmas 2012-13), a newish laptop (2012) and have just downloaded the latest version of iTunes.  However, despite iTunes working fine on the laptop, the ipod being recognised by the laptop/iTunes, telling me it is synchronising, it actually won't synch.  I have reset the ipod, tried different USB ports, restarted the laptop, and uninstalled / reinstalled iTunes, but still not working.  Can anybody help ?

Well, I don't know if that's a software or hardware problem.  You should take it to Apple Genius Bar or send it to service center.  And one more thing, Its not synch......  Its Sync...  Just saying...  It would help if you send pictures of the problem.  Such as the screen of iTunes saying it's syncing.  It will help everyone and me...

  • TS4006 is their still away to locate my lost ipod touch without the app find my ipod being on it

is their still away to locate my lost ipod touch without the app find my ipod being on it

The Find My iPhone APP has nothing to do with setting up the service on you ipod.  It's used to find other los devices.
You needed to turn on Find My iPhone service in Settings>iCloud (near bottom of page).  Without that you cannot locate the device.

Problem with both the speaker and earphones?
Have you tried another pair of headphones?
Yu can try the standard fixes to rule out a software problem:
    - Reset. nothing is lost.
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

  • IPod being used by other app while getting disconnected

when i press the eject ipod button in itunes, it displays the message: ipod cannot be ejected because it is being used by another application
i was wondering if the windows 'safely remove hardware' had anything to do with this
if so/not, please tell me how to solve this problem
ipod 30g, brand new, v1.1.1, iTunes newest ver
right now i have to listen to the ipod to make sure its internal harddrives are silent before unplugging
oh ya btw, when i press eject ipod, the screen of the ipod suddenly goes to normal for like a second, before the Do Not Disconnect message resumes.

    hi Bret!
by any chance do you have McAfee ActiveScan security software on that PC? if so let's try an experiment. diable the McAfee prior to a sync. does the iPod disconnect more smoothly then?

  • Ipod being recognized as a digital camera

After months of perfectly sound use in syncing etc suddenly my ipod is being recognized as a digital camera. I have followed all the instructions in the help sections, I have been to the Authorized service centre, I and the service centre have removed itunes several times and started and restared everything sooooo many times and we have reverted to old versions of itunes too. Still the ipod is being recognized as a camera.
no one seems to know why this has happened nor how to correct it.
    HELP !!!!!!! (please)

  • First Generation iPod being temperamental

My first generation iPod (with the firewire and actual spinning wheel) has recently started acting up. While playing, it'll stop on its own and freeze. When I reboot it (holding play and menu), it'll do one of the following:
    1) it shows a file folder with an exclamation point (so I reboot again)
    2) it'll start up, but freeze while I'm scrolling through the menus
    3) it'll start up fine and play music normally.
It's never acted up like this before. However, it being 6 years old, I knew it was going to start acting up soon, but I thought the battery was going to be the first to go. Anyone have any thoughts before I take it to the Apple Store to have them tell me that they don't support it anymore and to get a new one?

It may in fact be the battery that is causing your problem, with the hard drive being the next likely suspect. You can order a battery kit from several places and install it yourself, but after 6 years isn't it time for a new one?
There are also 3rd party sites you can send it to for repair, if they can get parts for one that old. Two examples are http://www.iresq.com and http://www.ipodmods.com. You can also go to http://www.ifixit.com and they have videos showing you how to disasseble and reassemble your iPod..

  • IPod being recognized as a different, non-iPod drive

When I connect my click-wheel pod, it's being recognized in iTunes 5 and 6 not as an iPod but as an entirely different USB drive that's occasionally plugged into the same USB port.
iTunes reports that the 20GB pod has no music on it and has 60GB of space on it. The second USB drive is a 60GB 2.5-inch hard drive. Interestingly, the name reported is not the name of the second USB drive or the iPod; rather, it's the name of an 80GB networked drive based elsewhere in a home network .
My system is an HP ze5570us laptop running Win XP Pro, service pack 2. The pod software is v3.0.2.
I've tried resetting the pod. It doesn't help. I've also tried using other USB ports. That also doesn't help.
Clearly there's an ID conflict somewhere but I've no idea how to resolve it. Suggestions are welcome.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
This is probably a drive letter conflict caused by your network drive. Check this: Strange iPod behaviour when Windows confuses iPod with network drive

  • Ipod being recognised as a camera

I have recently downloaded the latest version of i-tunes.
However when now I plug in my ipod it is stating that the device is a camera and I cannot update anything.
    Anyone got any ideas?
    Very annoying!

    Hello wrelts84,
    And welcome to Apple Discussions!
Your iPod is most likely being recognized as a camera because you have saved photos on it. If you remove them and try to reconnect your iPod, it should appear correctly in iTunes. Saved photos could include saved email attachments as well as screen shots you have taken on your iPod Touch.
Go to the "Saved Photos" album under Photos and delete all the photos from that album and see if that helps.

  • IPod being recognized as flash drive??!!! HELP

I plugged my iPod in one day, (someone used it and accidently erased all the music off), and my Mac reads like a flash drive instead of an iPod. The iPod doesn't show up in iTunes, but iTunes does pop up when I plug my iPod in. My iPod says its connected to the computer and all, but its not being read as iPod. Can anyone help me? I have already reset my iPod and turned off the computer and everything, but it just won't work.

    Hello Erica,
    And welcome to  Discussions!
I would start with this Apple support document related directly to your issue.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1410
You may need to remove and re-install iTunes completely from Mac. Use this article to help you do this.
[Removing iTunes for Mac OS X|http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1224]
And if nothing else, reformat your iPod using *Disk Utility*. See this article of mine on how to do this.
