just yesterday i was trying to put new songs on my ipod when i plug it in it comes up that its charging but doesnt say "do not disconnect" and doesnt come up on the computer same as today i was wondering if anyone could please help me?

I tried to use my ipod as a disk to transfer my itunes library from my desktop to my notebook (both Dell), now my ipod charges, but does not show up in itunes or on either of my computers. This worked for me, don't know if it will for you. Have ITunes open. While IPod is connected to computer press(at the same time) the menu and center buttons until your screen goes black and shows the apple icon then immediately press the forward button. Your IPod should show up. It won't hurt to try it, even if it doesn't work. Hope this is of some help to you.

Restoring your iPod to factory settings is the best way to try and get it back to working order. You can use the instructions below to restore it:
How to restore iPod
Verify that you have an active Internet connection, because you may need to download new versions of the iTunes and iPod Software.
Download and install the latest version of iTunes if necessary.
Open iTunes. Connect your iPod to your computer using the USB or FireWire cable that came with your iPod.
After a few moments, your iPod will appear in the Source panel in iTunes.
Select your iPod in the Source panel. You will see information about your iPod appear in the Summary tab of the main iTunes window.
Click Restore.
If you are using a Mac, you will be asked to enter an administrator’s name and password.
A progress bar will appear on the computer screen, indicating that stage one of the restore process has begun. When this stage is done, iTunes will present one of two messages with instructions specific to the iPod model you are restoring.
Disconnect iPod and connect it to iPod Power Adapter (typically applies to older iPod models).
Leave iPod connected to computer to complete restore (typically applies newer iPod models).
During stage two of the restore process, the iPod displays an Apple logo as well as a progress bar at the bottom of the display. It is critical that the iPod remain connected to the computer or iPod power adapter during this stage.
Note: The progress bar may be difficult to see, because the backlight on the iPod display may be off.
After stage two of the restore process is complete, the iTunes Setup Assistant window will appear. It will ask you to name your iPod and choose your syncing preferences, as it did when you connected your iPod for the first time.

I bough a 4g Ipod nano 2nd gen for my cousins birthday. When i plug it into my computer it charges but does not show up in windows or itunes. I tried reseting it, reinstalling itunes, everything the site said but it didn't help. I am trying to sync songs to it for my cousin, but it won't work with it not connecting. Could the wire have something to do with it or is there a bigger problem here?

However, after your remove the Apple software components also remove the iCloud Control Panel via Windows Programs and Features app in the Window Control Panel. Then reinstall all the Apple software components
- New cable and different USB port
- Run this and see if the results help with determine the cause

Ipod Touch Charges but does Not connect.

I do not know much about computers and even less on how to fix any issues but here is my problem
When I connect my Ipod Touch, it will charge but will not show up in my computer. I have a Dell Laptop Windows 7.
here is what I have tried
Uninstalled Itunes and then Reinstalled it. (I deleted Everything related to iTunes)
Rest iPod by holding the Power and Home button. I even Turned it off and then On.
I went into my Computer under Services and Stopped then started my Apple Mobile Device and made sure it was on Automatic Start Up Type.
Plugged it in my Sister's Laptop and it installed the linked to her iTunes no problem.
ANy ideas?

When you connect the ipod, does windows chime or sound.

Itouch charges but does not sync?

I have had my ipod touch for about a year and a half. Before this, my itouch was working perfectly and syncing fine. However, I put some files from a USB stick on my itunes, and ever since then there has been problems. It did an initial sync however now, itunes does not recognise my itouch as an ipod and only charges when plugged in. When i plug my itouch in, it is registered as a camera and asks whether I would like to see photo files.
I have plugged in an old ipod and it sync's just fine. I have also gone into an Apple Store and they only suggested to close down all running apps. I have also restarted my computer and ipod. I cannot reset my itouch as it is not even recognised and does not show up on the side as a tab!
Please Help?! I am unsure whether to reinstall itunes. Also, my computer ( a dell inspiron 1520) will not download the latest version of itunes, so I think this may be the issue.

Got it to work! Here's what I did:
-Turned off iTunes
-Disconnected the iTouch and then held both buttons to turn it off
-Plugged in the iTouch
-Turned on the iTouch, when iTunes activated it properly sync'd all my changes.

Unresponsive Satellite L55t - charges but does not turn on

Hello, I turned on my laptop and the backlight lit up but there was no display. I could hear it turning on and the indicator light came on. When connected to an external monitor, the display was just fine. I did some research, opened it up and disconnected and reconnected a few things (which I do often) and closed it back up. When I tried to turn it on this morning it was unresponsive. When connected to the ac adapter the charging light will turn on but the power button does not turn the laptop on. I desperately need this laptop for school, it's beyond it's warranty and I don't have the money to get it serviced. If I can find the source of the problem I'm open to replacing said part as long as it's not more expensive than sending it out to Toshiba. I've since taken the entire thing apart. The only things connected are the motherboard and CPU, both of which I've taken out and cleaned (fan was gross but I digress). I'm handy enough to be able to put it back together correctly and I know the basic parts, but I was hoping that someone could walk me though some troubleshooting as I put it back together. Or if that's not how it's done, maybe someone can help me take it apart in the right order so I can isolate the problem part. I have high hopes that it can work again (as it was powering up just fine a couple days ago with the exception if the display problem) I'm just not sure how to go about getting it back to that point. this on ipod wont work but others will on this computer. it still charges though. Is there anyway we can get the ipod formated or something to get it to work. the data is not important on it so we can lose it all if needed.

THe common thing here seems to be either the cable or the iPod.
Can you try another cable? Does a friend have an iPod, and you can use their cable?

Ipod Charges But Will Not Play

I have a Generation 1 512MB ipod shuffle. I can connect it to my computer, let it charge, and *** songs. When I go to turn it on and press play nothing happens. It won't turn on let alone play any songs. I pluged it in earlier and let it charge, unpluged it, and it played fine but now it wont.

IPhone 4 is fully charged but does not turn on

I've tried a hard reset by pressing and holding both the power button and the home button on numerous occasions for different durations, and nothing. I've tried to plug it back into an outlet, and nothing. I tried plugging into my Macbook and iTunes doesn't even read the phone, still nothing. My phone was fully charged when I took it off of the charger (around 1:50 a.m.) Sunday morning, November 7, 2010 (daylight savings) and I'm not sure if that could be the issue. Please help.

PRESARIO C700 SAYS 'PLUGGED IN AND CHARGING' BUT DOES NOT CHARGE THE BATTERY

I have a Compaq Presario C700 (3 actually), one of the 3 has a problem and only works when on battery power although it is plugged in and states it is charging? I know the batteries are ok and the AC as they both work fine on my other 2 systems. The laptop will not work off mains alone and has to have the battery connected. Any ideas before it goes to the computer grave yard?
