MY IPOD CHARGES BUT MY COMPUTER NO LONGER RECOGNISES MY IPOD
when i connect my ipod to my computer it charges straight away yet the computer does not recognise it. Neither does the updater.Though my computer used to recognise my ipod but like 2 months on it no longer does. Please help me what is the problem.
Also my ipod keeps turning itself on automatically even when it is on hold and therefore it is draining the battery. What can be done to stop it?
About turning on, is the alarm set?

My Shuffle will play music perfectly well and to the best of my knowledge it is even charging. However, when I plug it into any USB port anywhere (and trust me, I've tried just about every USB port on just about every computer I can find), the computer won't recognise it. I've tried the 5 R's and it hasn't gone anywhere. My warranty ran out just over a month ago so I'm fairly annoyed, and don't particularly want to have to shell out for a new/reconditioned one. Has anyone else had this problem? Does anyone have any solutions (apart from RTFM or the 5 R's)?
Any help gratefully appreciated.
Shuffle Windows XPRTFM and the 5 R's would apply. Following the relevant links out of iPod Shuffle Support Page will show you that once completed with the 5 R's you still have some other things you can and should be checking and doing.
You can also try reading through the threads in these forums; they frequently will contain fixes that people have discovered. The Search window can help speed the process up. -

thanks in advance.Hi TrakStarr,
Just saw another post like yours but the problem was with a 5th Gen.
Here's the "All-in-one-fixer-upper" I just found while trying to fix a similar problem with my 5th Gen.
Remember, this link offers FIVE suggestions to get ALL iPods running again. I've booked marked this page. Here's the "fixer-upper" link.

Hope that helps.

I've installed iTunes 10.2.1 but my computer doesn't recognise the hardware certificate and denies it, and the installation isn't complete. This results in my iPod being unrecognised and so, it cant synchronize with iTunes. Please help me! My system is a Windows XP.
Malware can cause digital signing issues, I would run a malware check with the free version of MalwareBytes:

After that, the is a Microsoft fixit for:
The software you are installing has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP. (Tell me why this testing is important.)
This software will not be installed. Contact your system administrator.

My computer no longer recognises the Airport base station network
I presently have wireless broadband internet access on my iBook (using a Belkin wireless ethernet router connected by an ethernet cable to my airport.)
I also have an Airport Express in another room connected to my stereo for playing all my iTunes songs wirelessly.
The problem arose in that if i wanted to listen to my music I had to switch between networks, meaning i couldn't surf the net and listen to music at the same time.
A few nights ago I tried to 'merge' the networks using Airport set-up assistant (or admin utility, I forget which).
Now, my computer no longer recognises the Airport base station network, just the Express one.
Is there a way of listening to my music and using the internet at the same time, and how do I get my internet working again in the first place!
Many thanks
JonoRebooted Airport Express and now working

My ipad has upgraded to IO6, but is now no longer recognised on my mac (10.5.8) or my itunes (10.6.1). What can I do? Can I revert ipad back?
You can't downgrade the iOS on the iPad.
Quit iTunes, reboot the Mac and reboot the iPad and then try again.
Reboot the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. -
Updated iTunes to latest version (10.4.1.10) resulted in computer no longer recognising my iPhone 4. Uninstalled and then reinstalled iTunes, still my iPhone is not detected by iTunes.
Please can anyone help…..c) unistalled and reinstalled iTunes
Doublechecking. Have you also tried a complete uninstall of both iTunes and all the other related software components and then a reinstall? If not, try the instructions from the following document:

my i pad shows connect to itunes but my computer does not recognise the devise -- it was ok until i tried to do a software update
Try and force iPad into Recovery Mode
1. Disconnect the USB cable from the device, but leave the other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
3.While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the device. The device should turn on.
4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen. When this screen appears, release the Home button. iTunes should alert you that it has detected a device in recovery mode. Click OK, and then click Restore to restore the device.
Note: Data will be lost. You may have to repeat the above many times. -

Currently have an IPad 2, running ios 6.1.3, looking to update to ios 7.03, but I need to delete 2g of photos. Reading posts, I need to do this via the internal storage, but when I connect ipad to any of our 3 pcs, whilst it is recognised by itunes, it is not listed as a removable device, so am unable to locate device nor its storage. Our iphones and ipods all connect and are recognised, why not ipad?? HELP!
This is great, BUT my pc does NOT recognise the ipad anymore, so I have nothing to import from..... it WAS recognised in the morning, but not by lunchtime on three different pc's. How do I get the pc's to recognise the ipad again??

‘iPad is disabled’ fix without resetting using iTunes
Today I met my match with an iPad that had a passcode entered too many times, resulting in it displaying the message ‘iPad is disabled – Connect to iTunes’. This was a student iPad and since they use Notability for most of their work there was a chance that her files were not all backed up to the cloud. I really wanted to just re-activate the iPad instead of totally resetting it back to our default image.
I reached out to my PLN on Twitter and had some help from a few people through retweets and a couple of clarification tweets. I love that so many are willing to help out so quickly. Through this I also learned that I look like Lt. Riker from Star Trek (thanks @FillineMachine).
Through some trial and error (and a little sheer luck), I was able to reactivate the iPad without loosing any data. Note, this will only work on the computer it last synced with. Here’s how:
1. Configurator is useless in reactivating a locked iPad. You will only be able to completely reformat the iPad using Configurator. If that’s ok with you, go for it – otherwise don’t waste your time trying to figure it out.
2. Open iTunes with the iPad disconnected.
3. Connect the iPad to the computer and wait for it to show up in the devices section in iTunes.
4. Click on the iPad name when it appears and you will be given the option to restore a backup or setup as a new iPad (since it is locked).
5. Click ‘Setup as new iPad’ and then click restore.
6. The iPad will start backing up before it does the full restore and sync. CANCEL THE BACKUP IMMEDIATELY. You do this by clicking the small x in the status window in iTunes.
7. When the backup cancels, it immediately starts syncing – cancel this as well using the same small x in the iTunes status window.
8. The first stage in the restore process unlocks the iPad, you are basically just cancelling out the restore process as soon as it reactivates the iPad.
If done correctly, you will experience no data loss and the result will be a reactivated iPad. I have now tried this with about 5 iPads that were locked identically by students and each time it worked like a charm.

Try it and good luck. You have nothing more to lose if it doesn't work for you.
Cheers, Tom -
I can connect iPod to charger, but not computer? No symbols or anything.
I have a huge problem with my video iPod. I can connect it to the charger, no problem. But when it comes to connect it to my PC, it just will not read it at all. Usually it dignifies being connected by showing the "do not disconnect" symbol. But now it just will not read at all and shows no other symbols on the iPod. I have tried everything I can on both the PC and iPod but nothing works.
Please help, me being the idiot I am, I have important uni files on the iPod that I need asap.updated ipad just after and now it will not do anything and can't get it to appear in itunes.
Might need to restart or reinstall the AMDS.
For Windows follow the instructions here > iPhone, iPad, iPod touch: How to restart the Apple Mobile Device Service (AMDS) on Windows
For Mac here > iTunes: How to remove and reinstall the Apple Mobile Device Service on Mac OS X
