My ipod classic doesn't recognize files

I use to sync my ipod with a pc but i plugged i to a mac and itunes doesnt recognize my music, the the ipod says that doesnt have any music files, but in setings>about this ipod says that 75G are fill with unrecognizable files, I try restart the ipod and reconnect it with a PC but that dont solve anything, is there any way to solve without having to erase it???

Highlight the audiobook in your iTunes Library and click on File/Get Info/Options>Skip when shuffling and then Sync the iPod with iTunes for those changes to be put on the iPod.

  • IPod touch doesn't recognize files after upgrade to 2.1

So I updated my iPod Touch to 2.1. (Foolish choice on my part apparently) First I noticed that when I synced it, it didn't ACTUALLY sync. Podcasts were where I noticed it. New ones weren't making it on even though iTunes said they were being transferred.
In my attempts to fix the problem, I tried a restore. Now when it syncs it loads all the data but none of it is recognized by the iPod. If I open songs it says there are no songs. If I open videos it says there are no videos. Photos work though. (Weird)
Anyone got suggestions? If I could figure out how to go back to 2.0 I'd do it in a heartbeat. Right now I have a virtually useless iPod.

My 3G GPS isn't working properly either and if I turn it on, I am unable to receive incoming SMS messages - - if I am able to receive them they are many hours or a day late or worse, it never arrives. I tried sending SMS message to myself but it never returned. Outgoing SMS and incoming/ougoing calls are fine though.
So what I did now was to switch off 3G so I am now left with an expensive regular cellphone with no internet capability. Bummer. Not what I really want - I would have settled for a Sony Ericsson instead if all I want is just a regular cellphone.

  • IPod Classic doesn't sync all music in my library

My iPod Classic doesn't sync all my music.  When I view my music files, the files that do not sync re not bold like the ones that sync correctly.  All files play on my computer.

The iPod can only Sync with one Library.
Your best option would be to add all the songs to one Library and then Sync with that.

  • HT1384 My iPod Classic doesn't appear to be charged. There is nothing on the screen. Has anyone else had this problem?

My week old iPod classic doesn't appear to be charged although it has been connected to my laptop. Nothing happens when I select the menu. I've followed the trouble shooting suggestions but nothing has changed. I've shut down my laptop and rebooted it. Still nothing. Any help would be appreciated.
    Many thanks

How long did you leave the iPod to charge?  Have you tried doing a hard reset to see if that makes a difference? To do this, press and hold both the Select/Center and Menu buttons together long enough for the Apple logo to appear.

  • Ipod classic doesn't free memory even if I delete music so I cannot download any new content

ipod classic doesn't free memory even if I delete music so I cannot download any new content

When you connect the iPod to iTunes, in the summary page, what do you see in the Capacity bar?
How much is used for Audio, Others, video?
Most likely you have high usage of others, which maybe caused by incomplete sync Operation and the iPod need to be Restored.

  • My new iPod Classic doesn't 'wake' when my docking station switches on (alarm setting)

My new iPod Classic doesn't 'wake' when my docking station switches on (alarm setting).
My old iPod Classic never ever let me down, and I used it in the docking station every working day for two years.
But this new iPod Classic has let me down three times just this week!
    Any clues?

While the iPod is connected to your iTunes, look (in iTunes) on the Device/Podcasts pane (tab) and make sure the Sync Podcasts option has been selected (there should be a tick in the box).

  • My iPod classic does not recognize there is music on it

    Hi all,
I recently connected my iPod classic to a different computer (my laptop). Now my iPod says there is "0 music," but shows that there is something still there taking up the same amount of memory. iTunes on my main computer can no longer read the iPod and recommends restoring the system. Meanwhile, iTunes on my laptop recognizes my iPod, sees and plays the music.
Please help! I would like to get my iPod to recognize that it has music. What can I do to fix this?

    and recommends restoring the system
    So why not do that?

  • Using Photoshop Elements to edit raw.  Doesn't recognize file type

I recently downloaded photoshop elements to use as my editor within Iphoto. I've set it up as the default editor in preferences, and made the appropriate change in the advanced settings within Iphoto so that it exports edits in RAW. When I attempt to edit by double clicking, Photoshop Elements gives me a msg that it can't open file because it does not recognize the file type. Does anyone know why this would be? I am using a Nikon D60. I haven't downloaded the Nikon software onto the computer (not sure if that has anything to do with it). Does photoshop elements need anything additional? Any help appreciated.
    Thx
    Richie

    Richie:
As Terence mentioned we can help with using PSE within iPHoto but why PSE doesn't recognize the D60 files is an Adobe issue. I believe there are Adobe plugins available to handle RAW files. Check the Adobe site for those. For using PSE to edit jpgs within iPhoto this may be of some help:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • CS5 Doesn't Recognize File - Plugins

I have Tiffen Dfx 2 and all it installed was a .plugin file to my photoshop folder. CS5 has never accepted the .plugin files for me. I figured most of that software wasn't usable in CS5 like some old Alien Skin products, but now with Dfx not installing I know somethings up. It's the 64 bit version and I've tried running it in 32 bit and 64. Why do I get that error message that Photoshop doesn't recognize the file.
    Many Thanks,
    Ben

Read the installation instructions that came with your plug-ins again.
One DOES NOT install a plug-in by double-clicking on its icon.  You install it by putting the plug-in in the appropriate plug-in folder and then launching Photoshop.

  • Installed I_tunes 9.02. Now Ipod classic doesn't synch/ download nu music

Ever since I had hardrive replaced, I've had issues with needing to upgrade my software because older programs wont work with OSX 10,5.8 I upgraded Itunes to 9.02 after getting message on my 24" Imac that this was necessary. Now when I buy mp3 files they don't show up in I tunes or on my Ipod classic! What gives? JOe

    hahaha, at least I tried
Just finished full uninstall - itunes.app + /library/itunes + ~/library/itunes + any com.apple.itunes - are there any more itunes files? Symptoms are still the same
I made some "extended" sync today - every kind of file - music, podcasts etc. Results are shocking - only photos are syncing. What the ****? How can it be a software issue if iPod worked liked a charm for 3 years and nothing was changed?!
And well, If anyone wants to know - I just kinda-solved that problem. I've installed the-most-up-to-date itunes (10.7?) and the iPod was working... Didn't want it to be that way of course I've restored just to be sure v9 of iTunes database and installed iTunes 9 again - and again problems were the same as earlier. Nevertheless OS version is same as 2 years ago so I have no freaking idea why iTunes 9 was working 2 years ago and now is not. Now I have to get back to ugly 10.7 and live with it And I wouldn't say the problem is solved as I still have no idea what was wrong and why. Apple forces me to using newest software even if hardware was capable of running older, faster one some time ago... IMHO it's simply not ethical. Sad
BTW I've just read that 10.7 drops support for PowerPC. I know, it's off for like years but that means I won't use my iPod with DualG5 anymore, because older versions of iTunes won't sync it like they did 2 years ago! You got that? That's more ironic than any Monty Python's skit. Not cool Apple, not cool at all.
    Thanks Flukyluke121!

  • IPod Classic Doesn't Charge in PC Port

This is my first post, so bear with me.
So, I'm at school, and a 4th grade teacher calls me down to her room. She said she had two broken iPods w/ chargers. She gave these to me, saying that I could keep one if I could fix them. She wasn't very good with technology, and I simply charged the iPods and they turned on and operated. Except for one. I can use the second iPod if it's plugged into the wall and stand for it, but If I plug it into my PC, it shows the Apple logo and quickly turns off. Both iPods are 1st Generation 40GB iPod Classics. It doesn't appear in the iTunes window, so I can't update/restore it. Any help?

...12V car charger is not working...
...Funny thing is it is charging with a 12V Parrot car kit with dock connector.
So the 12v Parrot car kit is different to the 12v car charger then? Or is one of these items actually the 24v charger you referred to earlier?
    A few points to note:
Any Apple charger should be okay. If the wall charger is non-Apple, make sure to check the rating.
Whatever the source, the output from the charger needs to be at least 500mA. This "output rating" should be writtten on the device somewhere, as 5v 500mA or similar. If the charger supplies only 300mA (a common rating) this will not charge an iPod Classic.
Car batteries supply 12 volts. So a car charger needs to change the 12 volts to 5 volts. Some old iPods could be charged with 12 volts and some (not so old) iPod models could be charged by either 12 or 5 volts. However, the voltage was supplied on a different "line" (or wire) into the iPod. So a charger that changes 12 volts to 5, but feeds the 5 volts on the 12 volt line, will not change an iPod. As far as I recall, no iPod Classic can be charged with 12 volts, all Classics use 5 volts. (See point 5 about the definition of a Classic.)
A 24 volt charger (to which you referred originally) would presumably be for a commercial vehicle. So a charger designed for 24 volt supply in, needs to step down (change the voltage) to 5 volts out.
Here's a major point: is your iPod actually a Classic, as defined by this article; http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1353 ? If it is not either an 80GB, 120GB or 160GB iPod, then it is not a Classic. In that case, check with the article to correctly identify your iPod.
If your car charger has a plug-in lead, with a plug that can be turned around to supply the same voltage, but with opposite polarity, then you need to check that the lead is connected the correct way.

MyiPod classis A1238 doen't charge from 24 Volt and from wall charger. It does from USB connected to my iMac.

All original cables. exchanging checked cables doesn't work either.
