  • My iPod is dead and won't charge or connect to the computer. How can I fix this?

My iPod is dead and won't charge or connect to the computer. How can I fix this? Before it died, it said I had a full battery whenever I charged it, but as soon as it came off of the charger, the battery level was always under ten per cent.

Sounds like the battery needs to be replaced.

My original Ipad is dead and won't charge at all. I've tried numerous chargers. How do I know if the iPad is "broke"?

Aside from taking it in to a certified Apple Repair shop, this may be a sign that it is dead.  Or there could some kind of damage to the connectors on the charge port.  I am guessing on that part because I am assuming that the other chargers you have used work for other devices.  It may be time to look into buying a new one if it is dead.

  • I want to delete my mac account and replace it with my gmail account. I know how to do this but when I click and open up mail I get the spinning wheel and have to force quit mail.

I want to disable my mac.com mail, I know how to delete it but I cannot get into mail to do this, whenever I click on mail, or mail in system preferences to open it I get the spinning wheel and have to force quit. I am running a Macbook 10.7.5
    Thanks,
    Edward.

You can't merge Apple IDs.  You also can't cancel (delete) and existing ID, you can only choose to stop using it.
If your old ID was compromised and you can no longer access it, you'll have to contact Apple for assistance.  Go to https://expresslane.apple.com ; click 'See all products and services' at the bottom of the page. In the next page click 'More Products and Services, then 'Apple ID'. In the next page select 'Other Apple ID Topics' then then 'Apple ID account Security’.

  • My iPod Touch Is Dead and Won't Charge

I have a 2nd Generation 16GB iPod Touch.  I have had it for a year and half.  I use it very often.
Yesterday, it just all the sudden shut off.  It was low on battery, but it didn't even do it's usual black screen and the loading logo.  It just completely shut off to a black screen.  I immediately tried to charge it, but to no avail.  When I try to charge it, it jst shows the Apple logo over and over as if it's trying to shart back up, but won't.  I left it on the charger all night hoping it would resurrect, but that didn't happen either.  It won't charge at all.  I click the Home button and it shows the Charging bar.  All it hjas left is a little red bar at the end.  It recognizes that it is plugged into the computer because it has the little lightning strike under the bar that shows that it is indeed charging, or at least trying to charge.  When I unplug it, it has the little "plug > lighning strike" logo.  It's like it recognizes that it is plugged into a charger, but just won't charge.
I have already tried holding the Home and Power button numerous times, so don't tell me to do that.
My iPod Touch is not recognized by my computer or iTunes.
I really just want to get the songs off my broken iPod Touch, so if you know how to do that, then that will be fine as I will most likely buy a new iPod Touch.
    Please help me out.

If you've tried the poer cycle button and its not working I'd try a trip to the Genius bar. Do you have an Apple store nearby?

Also would like to know how to find my passcode for Restrictions without restore the whole phone.
Not possible, and since the Restrictions Passcode is included with your iPhone's backup, you must restore the iPhone as a new iPhone or not from the backup.

Otherwise, you can also do this if you're using a PC:
    1. Go to control panel where you can uninstall a program.
    2. Click on iTunes from the list of programs. There should be a button on top of the page that says “Repair”. Just click it.

  • Three iPods... all dead and won't charge

I need some serious help. My 30Gb iPod, 2 weeks old, won't charge. My daughter's 2 month old 2nd gen Nano won't charge. My son's 11 month old 1st gen Nano won't charge. I have become quite proficient in managing the iPods. I have had to do a few resets on my 30Gb, but that's it. However, beginning yesterday, none of them will charge.
I have 2 AC chargers (Apple, of course) and 3 different USB cords. I have 2 Dell Dimension desktops, both relatively new and up to date on all Windows updates. The computers would recognize my son's iPod yesterday (but not my 30Gb or my daughter's Nano), but it wouldn't recharge via the USB cables.
I alternated all 3 USB cables on each computer, as well as the AC chargers. I tried 5 different AC outlets, and tested the AC outlets by charging my cell phones on them. I also tested the USB connections on my desktops by charging a digital camera.. no problems with the camera.
My son's 1st Gen is the only one that shows any signs of life. It will infrequently flicker and say something like, "Please wait, low battery". Yesterday, it would say it was charging, but it never charged up and it eventually ground itself down into this sad state.
I have no clue as to what happened with mine. It was well protected in my purse, about half the battery charge left, when I last used it. I pulled it out yesterday to update via iTunes, and it was so dead the computer wouldn't recognize it.
Daughter was listening to hers yesterday, and the battery discharged. It's been dead ever since.
I have all the latest Windows updates, reinstalled iTunes, and tried every reset option known to man. I don't know what else to do at this point, and I REALLY hate to package up all three of them and send them to Apple.
    Any suggestions? Help!!!!!

I had the same problem with my old original iPad 1.  I read somewhere (maybe even in this forum) to try a 12-watt charger.  I bought the Apple 12-Watt power adapter on Amazon for 19.95 (also available at Apple stores for the same price) and plugged that iPad in today and it IS charging and everything on it is accessible!!  I am amazed and thrilled!  I wasn't optimistic with this fix, but it sure worked!  You might want to try it, too.  BTW...everything is still there..no restore needed.

  • Since IOS 5 the accelerometer of my iPod doesnt work anymore, anyone knows how to fix this?

The accelerometer of my iPod Touch doesnt work anymore, it has worked perfectly, untill i updated the device to iOS 5.

Did you try to reset the ipod by holding the sleep and home button until the Apple logo comes up again?

  • ~~~Lost everything while syncing my iPod touch. Does anyone know how to fix it?

Last month, whenever I clicked on my internet network it said "Unable to Join Network..." I was able to fix that by restoring my iPod. The same thing happened to me today. My iPod was unable to join my network. Sooo I restored my iPod back to factory settings just like I did before. Instead, it deleted my photos contacts and notes. Plus, I still have no network connection.  I did sync all my things before I restored my iPod except for my pictures. PLEASE HELP!!!!
Also I already tried to reset the network connections.

    - Try restoring from backup. That is the only way to get the photos back. First go to iTunes>Preferences>Devices and and check the box titled" Prevent iPods..." otherwise when you connect the old backup might be overwritten with the a backup that does not have the photos.
    - We are talking about photos taken by or saved to the iPod and not synced photos, right?
    - Have yu tried here:
iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
as a test try setting the encryption of the router to none.

  • Help my wifi is off on my iphone 6 and i don't know how to fix it. I tried on and off with wifi but says i'm not connected to internet?

iphone says I'm not connected to the internet. How do I connect it to my internet?

    Hey vivianreiser,
It sounds like you need some assistance with your Wi-Fi connection on your iOS device. Here is an article that will help you troubleshoot this:
    Get more help
If someone else set up your network, ask them for help. If you’re using a network at a company, school, hotel, store, or other free Wi-Fi location, find an employee for assistance.
If you're connected to a Wi-Fi network but you can’t get online, try to use your Wi-Fi network on other devices. If you can’t get online using your other devices, there might be a service outage. Call your cable company or internet provider for help.
Try connecting to a Wi-Fi network in a different location. If your device can connect, you’ll need to get help with your Wi-Fi network. If it can’t connect to any Wi-Fi networks, contact Apple.
Update your Wi-Fi router with the latest firmware and make sure the router supports your Apple product. For more information, contact the manufacturer of your router.

  • Does anyone know how to connect the iPhone to a peripheral and keep it charging?

Now that a number of medical devices can be attached to the 30 pin or to a lesser extent the lightening connector this creates the obvious conundrum of what happens when the battery of the iPhone dies and you still want MORE data?
The answer came in this review for a pulse oximeter
    http://www.amazon.com/review/R2LR18B4LT26F8/ref=cm_cr_pr_perm?ie=UTF8&ASIN=B00A1 G7VRS&linkCode=&nodeID=&tag=
The problem is that I have not been able to find this device that he references that describes a 30 pin extender that also has a connection to a USB (albeit mini USB) connector to allow charging and connection to an additional device.
Now granted that this may pose risks to the iPhone & as you can see in the review many of the device manufacturers don't like it, but this could come in handy and very useful for certain applications.
Does anyone know what this is called and where to find it online to buy?  or does anyone have a better solution such as a 30 pin splitter that will actually allow each device on the split to still communicate with each other (my guess is most splitter would allow dual charging, but will not allow you to actually get data sent across from the one device to the other).
    Thoughts?

What exactly is this "text divider"?
A graphic? If so what format?

  • I cannot get my ipod touch to do anything, it just went dead and won't charge

I tried turning on my ipod touch and it would not do anything, not even show a battery sign or anything, just completely dead. I used it with a half battery about 15 minutes prior to that and it worked fine. It will not charge or anything.

After reading some other replies from older post I got it to work! I held down the power button and home button at the same time until the white apple icon appeared, then plugged into even though it already had a full battery.

  • HT1320 My IPOD classic is corrupted.. how can this be fixed?

My IPOD Classic is corrupted... how can this be fixed?

You know sometimes these forums miss the obvious. I have an iPod Classic 160Gb, 6th Gen (MC297), Been in use for some time now, over 10,000 albums plus photos/videos etc. Yesterday I was in the process of adding another album (sync) when for no reason that I could fathom became corrupted, as explained on these posts. I had all the error messages (error 1439), I put it into diagnostic mode, the result being that my HDD could not be accessed, so should be replaced.
Now I tried all the advice here, including attempting to reformat via two different PC's (with iTunes) umpteen times. Until I came across a paragraph within the comments section of a YouTube video on replacing the HDD.
It said to put the iPod into Disk Mode, first; Reset by holding the menu & centre buttons at same time for 7-10 seconds. Once it reboots immediately hold the centre and Pause/Play buttons, after a few seconds it should display Disk Mode screen.
Reconnect to PC, when it shows as a drive, right click choose format, default settings, type in name iPod, select start and it should format (mines did), yet I had tried all of the formatting before without success. Once done restart iTunes and you will be taken to the restore iPod option, (it had failed to restore many times before prior to using disk mode), success, just follow prompts, make sure you are connected to the PC that holds your library for re-syncing. iTunes will let you know if you need to change that anyway.
iPod in the sync process just now and looks to be doing the job, much better that trying to get the case open to replace the HDD that I don't have yet and don't know which type or where to get one. So would advice you folk on here, to get your iPod into 'Disk Mode' especially if you have had the HDD error or unable to restore/format messages.
Never saw any of this method on Apple support.
