My iPod classic only plays the first two minutes of some of the songs i have transferred. I cannot work out a theme here

I recently bought an ipod classic - and loaded my full itunes library.
Most of the songs loaded fine - but a significant minority (c 25%) only play the first 2 mins, after which are silent for the rest of the song. I have not managed to identify a common theme among these
When i play the songs from itunes direct, it's fine - or from my ipod when plugged in. It only happens when i play my iPod offline

I've been having this same problem since I installed version 8.1 of iTunes. I have tried EVERYTHING to no avail, oh wait, things got worse. At first it was only songs I had downloaded since installing version 8 but now songs I rip from my CDs are skipping as well.
The only songs I have on my iPod are from iTunes or my own CDs.
I've tried the 5Rs more times than I can count now, I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes and Quicktime multiple times, I've recreated my iTunes library multiple times, I've tried setting Gapless to yes for all songs, I've tried setting Gapless to no for all songs, nothing worked.
I was beginning to think it was my iPod's hard drive but it's not. I have an older version of iTunes on my laptop (8.0.2.20) so I loaded the same songs that were skipping when sync'd from ver 8.1. They don't skip when sync'd from the older version of iTunes.
Either something is wrong w/ 8.1.1.10 and my 5g iPod and 2g Nano or something happened during the install and I haven't been able to completely wipe iTunes and Quicktime before reinstalling them.
ps: I forgot to add that the songs play fine in iTunes and when I play them from the iPod through iTunes.

If you want to upgrade the quality of a song in your library, you have to delete the library copy and download the matched copy.
Once it is downloaded, it will stay in your library even you don't renew Match.

I had a quick search for prices last night. As I recall the site that caught my eye was the e-bay store for this company but I was looking at their page for Nano & 5th gen. They're quoting £29.99 for the 6th gen. service, probably more because it is harder to get into. As I understand it you book the service, send it in via insured post, they fix and send it back. You can shop around, that looks like a reasonable deal.

Why is my iPod classic only playing 10 seconds of a song?

Suddenly all of my songs on my iPod are only plaimg 10-20 seconds of a song. Some dont evenplay at all. They are playing corretly on iTunes. How do I fix this???

Ipod Classic only plays one podcast

My Ipod classic will sometimes play only one podcast and stop, not going on to the next one if there is one. When it happens, I need to reset all my setting and then when I play a podcast it goes to the next one if there is one. What is causing this and is what setting changes whether it goes to the next podcast or not?

ITunes only burns the first two discs of audible book over and over

I have purchased, downloaded, and burned many Audible books in iTunes successfully . . . until now.
NOW I cannot get my current purchased book to burn correctly.
What I do...
I create a playlist for the audiobook.
I drag the audiobook into the playlist.
I right click on the playlist and ask it to burn to disc.
I am told the book will have to be spread across multiple discs.
I click "ok".
The playlist begins to burn to disc.
I am prompted to insert another disc.
I do so.
This goes on and on for what seems like too many discs (normally, an unabridged audio takes about 8-12 discs depending on the length.)
I check the discs in a portable player and discover that the first two discs are fine, but that the third and fourth discs are just repeats of the first two discs.
I check the rest of the discs I have burned (18 at this point) and find that the first two discs are repeated over and over and over again!
What I did to try and resolve the issue:
I checked to see if I had the latest iTunes downloaded. I do.
I emailed Audible and they had me delete all occurences of the audiobook from my system and then re-download a fresh copy. I did.
Tried to reburn the new playlist with the new downloaded audio book.
The same issue occurrs and I waste another 18 discs.
It should be noted that the only reason I only wasted these 18 discs each time and not more is because I finally cancelled the burn.
iTunes was still asking for more discs on disc 18 (and the audio book was only about 10 hours long).
Any help resolving this would be appreciated.

I know that doesn't help a lot, but I have NEVER been fond of iTunes for burning.

Populating a third column form the contents of lov result the first two

i have a form with three fields.
The first two fields are LOV. The third is a text field.
I would like to compile a third field concatenating the results of these two. I would also check that the third field does not exceed the 30 digit value.
e.g.
first field --> country
lov
FRANCE d, FR r
ITALY d, IT r
second field --> town
lov
PARIS d, PRS r
MILAN d, MI r
third filed
PARIS FRANCE ( max 30 char)
MILAN ITALY

Yes, you would extend your PL/SQL to use the LOV return values as your look-up to return your display values.
Looking back your original question; why doesn't your database yield Paris France just by selecting Paris with just one LOV? Maybe you need a table that relates a city to a country.

Since syncing my Ipod classic three days ago, the songs will only play the first three minutes and five seconds. Then it just stops. After a little while, it moves on to the next song.

Then it moves on to the next song or if it's the last song, it goes back to the menu. I just synced again and it it still doing it.It also has a small group of dots near the middle of the screen that weren't there before.Has anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it? Thanks.

Then back it up and do a restore. If that does not work and if you are still under warranty, call Apple tech support or take the iPod to your local Apple Store or an AASP.

My ipod shuffle only plays the first songs on the list even though it has several more podcasts in it. it only plays a series of podcasts instead of all of them. My older shuffle never had this problem. How can I solve this?

Your older shuffle, if 1st or 2nd gen, did not have the ability to play from multiple playlist. It was essentially just ONE playlist that you loaded manually using iTunes. A very simple device. With the new shuffle, it works more like the "bigger" iPods and you can load more than one playlist (so it is more complex), but if you select a specific playlist (using VoiceOver), it works like the old shuffle.

That is probably because you are playing songs from the All Songs list, instead of choosing a specific playlist using VoiceOver. Podcasts do not play from the All Songs list.

If you use VoiceOver to select a podcast, it only plays episodes from that particular podcast.
Here's what you can do, to make it work like your old shuffle. Create a new regular playlist in iTunes, and name it something like "iPod Podcasts" or whatever you want. Treat that new playlist like your old shuffle. Manually add the podcast episodes you want on the shuffle, in the order you want to hear them, on that playlist. NOTE: You can adjust the playlist order after adding the podcast episodes.
Select the shuffle in iTunes. You see a row of "tabs" (buttons) starting with Summary. Click Podcasts there. This is the Podcasts tab, where you set up how iTunes syncs podcasts. Check the box for Sync Podcasts. Below that, since you have a playlist with the podcasts you want on the shuffle, you only need to go to the list under Include Episodes from Playlists and checkmark that iPod Podcasts playlist.
When you click Apply, the episodes on that playlist sync to the shuffle. Going forward, to update the podcasts on the shuffle, update that iPod Podcasts playlist (add and remove episodes) in iTunes. Then, the next time you connect the shuffle, iTunes automatically updates the shuffle with the same changes. If the shuffle is already connected, click the Sync button to update.
When using the shuffle, set the shuffle's power switch to the play-in-order (middle) position. Podcasts are skipped on playlists, if the power switch is set to shuffle. Use VoiceOver to switch to that iPod Podcasts playlist. The podcast episodes should play in playlist order.
NOTE: You can load songs in the same way. Create an "iPod Songs" playlist in iTunes, with the songs you want on the shuffle. Go to the shuffle's Music tab, and select that playlist. And audiobooks on the Books tab. You can load as many playlists as you want. The big advantage of the new shuffle is that you can have different types of content and keep them organized on separate playlists.

Do you mean crashes?
Try doing a full reset. otherwise it sounds like you might want to walk it into the nearest Apple Store and get an opinion there.

I would try in oreder:
- Resetting the iPod:
Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
- Restoring the iPod via iTunes. First from backup and if problem persists, restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

The songs on my Ipod Classic wont play at all although you can feel and hear the machinery working hard. The tracks are not playng at all but you can see the Ipod rewinding them all and returning to the album. And this happens to the second IPOD I have!

First off, I would STRONGLY suggest that a external hard drive would make you life much easier by at least being able to back up your songs on the external drive for when you need them. Even if you don't want them in the iTunes library, you can have them all ready on the external to be re-added as needed. You can get 100's of gigs for under $100 shipped.
Anyway, since you used Yamipod, are all the songs back on the computer? If so, I would go ahead and restore the iPod, let iTunes then resync everything back to the iPod, then switch it back to manual and see if the restore and resync clears up the issue.

Go to settings on the ipod itself and make sure on the option Repeat, it doesn't say "One". If it does, click on it until it's says "All" or "Off" - depending on what you prefer. If it isn't on repeat, reset it -if you haven't already; but that's usually everyone's first instinct when there's a problem so I assume you already have. If none of this works, you may have to restore it. If restoring it is something you want to leave as an absolute last resort, go to an apple store or something and ask a professional.
