My ipod cut out suddenly!

earlier today i was on my ipod, and the screen suddenly went black. i tried turning it back on like normal, and when that didn't work i assumed it had run out of battery (even though it was almost full last time i checked). i charged it for about 2 hours, and when i unplugged it, it still didn't work.
i have tried everything! i have held down both buttons many times (once for over 30secs), and have held them down whilst plugged in to my computer. are there any suggestions for other things i could try?
my ipod is an ipod touch 4th generation, and i have had it for about 3-4 years. i don't know if this means that it has stopped working just because it is too old, or if something went wrong. it has never done anything like this before. help!

Try:
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode
How to put iPod touch / iPhone into DFU mode « Karthik's scribblings
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Blackberry cuts out suddenly

    Hello
My BB has developed a habit of cutting out suddenly while I am on the phone.  The line goes dead without warning and the screen goes black and the BB won't start again.  It seems to be low on power because when I recharge the battery it works again. However, even though fully recharged it happens again.  I have tried taking out the battery and restarting.  Is it possible my battery is just faulty or is there another possible explanation before I go buy another battery.  Thanks for any help.

Which BlackBerry device are you using? Is it a new device? It seems that you battery has been drained out. This is usual for  a new battery. You can consider changing the device battery. In case of new device claim for warranty.

  • IPod cuts out

my two year old fifth generation 8gb ipod keeps cutting out. I get about six seconds of on time before it suddenly turns off and restarts. Its fully charged and only cuts out when the bottom of the scroll wheel is moved, but to play songs i need to use said portion of the wheel.
    Help is apprecitated, thanks

Having this issue in two forms:
    1. iPod is playing normally, randomly it pauses (like on CD players with no seek ahead protection during bumps), and it will begin to play again after a moment.
    2. iPod is playing normally, randomly the screen goes blank and the song stops playing. I hit the middle button and it starts playing again.

  • Ipod cuts out (pauses) with fm transmitter

My ipod works absolutely fine until it's connected to an fm transmitter, and then it keeps cutting out. The music pauses and you have to press play again. It does this completely randomly, sometimes works fine for twenty minutes at a time, other times cuts out twenty times a song. I have all the latest updates, I've tried powering off the ipod completely, and restoring it. I've also used several different transmitters and they all do this. Any ideas?? So frustrating!!

there are a lot of different FM trasmitters.. My choice would be a kensington or belkin.. I have both and they work well.. Before you buy one in the description of the product it should tell you what model they will work with.. just make sure it will work with your nano.. do a google search on "fm transmitter UK" Im sure you will get a ton of options.

  • Ipod cutting out

Even when the hold lock is on, my i-pod keeps cutting out. It is only three months old. Any ideas?

There is another thread in iPod Lounge that covers this problem. Towards the last page at the bottom (page 7) there is a solution that we have not heard before. It is about picking at a switch at the bottom of the jack connector. If it is depressed the iPod think that the jack is out and pauses. This will create a problem if this switch is faulty, or are depressed too much even when a jack is plugged in. By trying to raise this switch a little with a safety pin or the like the problem supposedly are solved.

  • IPod cutting out...why?

This has happened twice. I go on the Internet on my iPod , and after a few minutes everything completely freezes. I press the home button and power button but they don't work. The screen goes black and has lots of flashing zig zags. This lasts for a few minutes and none on my buttons work. Then after that, the screen goes completely white for a few minutes, then the whole thing shuts down and powers up. It then takes me back to my lock screen and everything seems normal. But why does this keep happening, because it only seems to be happening on the Internet, and the sites are reliable and don't carry viruses. It doesn't happen on the same website each time, but it can happen anytime I am on the Internet. I would appreciate some helpful suggestions on how to avoid this and why it keeps happening. Has anyon else experienced this problem?

    Try the standard fixes:
    - Reset. Nothing will be lost.
Reset iPod touch:  Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Restore from backup
    - Restore to factory defaults/new iPod
If you still have the problem it is likely due to a hardware problem an an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • Hi i bought a cd off of itunes and the best song on the whole CD half way through cuts out suddenly and goes to next song. I am new to using I tunes store and dont know whats up. it comes with the digital download as well if that helps. So what do I do ?

    hi

The iPad uses AirPrint technology to print to a printer. Check this Apple support page to see if your printer is listed as being AirPrint compatible.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht4356
If your printer works with AirPrint you will need a Wi-Fi network in order to connect. That Wi-Fi network does not need to be connected to the Internet. As James Ward4 says, you'll need a Wi-Fi router to set up your network. Most routers require that a computer be used during the setup process. Perhaps you could use someone's computer to do the setup if you do not had one yourself. Once the router is set up you should be able to print.

  • Sudden Power Cut Out on iMac G5

    Hello team,
My iMac G5 (1st gen, 20") just did something odd -- while I was checking my e-mail, its power just cut out suddenly and the machine went dark. I was able to restart it just fine, but obviously something's amiss here. I checked to make sure the power strip I've got it plugged into wasn't loose (it wasn't) and that all the other connections were fine (they were), and now I'm turning to you for suggestions/ideas. This has happened once before a while back, but I didn't worry about it at first because that was the only time. However, now that it's done the exact same thing again, I figure it's time to do a bit of investigating. Might this be a symptom of the power issues that some first generation iMac G5s have experienced? Or perhaps something else? Thanks very much in advance for your input on this!
    Electronically yours,
    Erik
    20" iMac G5   Mac OS X (10.3.8)

Yep, just one of the tricks the first generation iMac G5s like to pull. Mine did same thing before I finally had it replaced a year , and 5 major repairs after I got it. What was failing on mine when it turned itself off randomly was the Motherboard having been fried from extreme heat. ( So Applecare folks told me.)
The main prob with both the Rev A and B iMac G5s was and is that they generate more heat than they can dissapate. Its been corrected on Rev C and Intel iMacs since they COMPLETELY redid the internal placement of everything on them and even added a much needed vent right behind where the hard drive sits(Behind the arm) and next to where the fans can draw in more cool air from outside the machine. Anyway, what youre experiencing unfortuneatly isnt isolated for most of us ex or current Rev A iMac G5 owners. Very common and if youre able to , get out from under the computer if you can. They are highly flawed imo.The fact that they redid it so much tells me anyway that it was flawed. The Rev Cs are perfect and everything the A and Bs were not. Cool running, stable, quiet, and add all the extras like HD space, Vram, extra and faster ram, and the iSight, for me, made all the agrivated trips to the Apple store worth it. Even though it was and is over 50 miles from my home.
Good luck, let us know what you find out is happening. And seriously, do yourself a favour, if you can have it replaced.

  • Certain tracks keep cutting out...

Whenever a certain few songs play on the iPod, they cut off about 2/3 of the way through and the ipod does not skip to the next track. It just gets stuck. It doesn't freeze. I can hit next or back and it will go to the next track, but the song doesn't complete. The source mp3s are perfectly fine and play perfectly in iTunes.
Why does the iPod cut out? Anyone familiar with this?

Some of your iPod songs might be corrupted.

i use itunes to play music through my airport express but sometimes the songs cut out sporatically.  a song will be playing along then all of a sudden there is intermittant music and silence. What could be causing this?

I finally resolved my problem after spending way too much time on it. I simply handed my 160GB iPod to my husband to put his fav Stones & Beatles songs on and I went back to my 80GB Microsoft Zune which has never disappointed me.
After spending so much time trying to figure this out I did finally take it back to Apple Store who performed a diagnostic and found there was a problem with the device. They replaced it with a refurbished one which has similar issues. All I wanted to do was listen to my music. Was that too much to ask? So I am happy to be free of this problematic device. No more Apple for me!!

  • Ipod songs cutting out and volume bar dissapear

I have an ipod touch 3g and it has been fine until this morning when all of a sudden it cut out during a song as soon as i locked it. then the volume bar dissapeared and the song became muted, i now have to keep unplugging and re-plugging in my headphones in the headphone jack. i reset it without removing the data then it still was mucking about.
how can i fix this problem, it's under warranty but i want to try and sort it before i go get it repaired. by the way it's on iOS 4.0

I am having this same problem. I recently converted my iTunes library to a new Windows Vista PC. Song cuts out on iPod but not on iTunes. Apple store gave me a replacement unit fo the 30GB 5th generation and it still happens on the new unit. Also happens on my iPod Nano (new model).
Every post I see relating to thsi problem is "unanswered".

  • No broadband for days after suddenly cutting out l...

    Hi all,
I'm hoping you can help me with a very frustrating issue I am facing. On Friday 13th Jan, at 1pm and without warning, my BT broadband connection died and has not yet come back (so 4 days and counting).
I am an IT technician by trade and normally I am able to resolve any issues with these things myself. However, this time I exhausted all options (filters, lines, different router etc) and had to call BT's (not very good) offshore call centre, who use their wonderful training to read through a script asking me if the power is on
Anyway, long story short, my Fault was logged but nothing done. So I called back on Saturday, same script (even though I've been through it already...) and at the end of the call he says he'll escalate and next level support will call me on Sunday morning - apparently he had booked me in for a callback between 9 - 11am. And you can guess what happened - nothing, no phone call, nada.
So again I have to call the wonderful offshore call centre and go through the bl**dy script AGAIN. I've done it I tell him, but "Sorry Sir I must check these few things" **bleep** it. I'm losing my rag here and i am a very calm person by nature.
They have no idea what's wrong with my broadband. I tell them it was working on Friday 1pm then it suddenly cut out. Days later it's still not back, so there is a problem and I know it's not in my house.
My friends down the street have broadband with Zen and Plusnet and their connection is fine. So all otehr ISPs are working OK in our area.
My neighbour is with BT Broadband, like me, and his connection is also dead!
So the problem is not in my house! Even then they're sending an engineer down ...I expect he won't turn up though, but even if he does I can't imagine what he'll do in my house, because I'm fairly certain the problem is not there.
No communication to tell us what's wrong, or that BT are aware of the problem and working on it and will have my broadband back on x date etc.  No record of it on BT's Service Status page or on 0800 169 0199. I can't believe how poor their service is. When I moved to BT I thought I was paying more for a better service, for a one-stop-shop that wouldn't let me down. I wish I'd done my research properly!
What can I do to get my broadband back?
Can I cancel my contract mid-term and move to another ISP which is working in my area?
Please help, I'm so **bleep** stressed over this as it's preventing my wife and I from being able to work at home.
Just for information, I'm in post code area TW19.

  • IPod continues to cut-out while playing

I've posted this before, and I've seen other threads regarding this issue -- my iPod randomly stops playing songs and goes back to the main iPhone menu.
I was, unfortunately, forced to reload my iPhone last weekend because the world clocks did not work. After I reloaded, I found that this cutting-out issue stopped. Yay!
However, last night I added new songs (some from iTunes store, others from various CDs). iTunes found some of the album art for me, a few of them I had to add the art manually.
Today, I'm having the music cutting-out issue again. It has happened 6x so far (since about 9:00AM - so 3 hours). 4 of those times I was doing nothing to the iPhone, it was just sitting on my desk next to me. 1 time it happened when I was adjusting the volume and the other time it happened when I was changing the view so I could view album art (turning the iPhone sideways).
I've already turned my iPhone off and back on, hoping this problem would go away (it didn't). Please don't tell me that I have to reload my iPhone every single time I add new songs to my library.
Has there been any "official" response to this issue? Does anyone know when we're getting a patch for iTunes?
I'm getting pretty frustrated with this problem. My husband is experiencing the same issue, though he doesn't use his iPod nearly as much as I do. We spent $1,300 -- can we not get the basic functionality, at least?

  • My ipod video sound cuts out after 30 sec

I play my movie and the sound cuts out after a while and then it only plays the video with no sound. It's not the video because it works fine on my computer and all the other videos are doing the same thing. I found if I rewind or fast foreward the sound comes back but only for a little while and the sound cuts out again.

This happens with the current firmware 1.1 upgrade on the iPod. You can downgrade the firmware to 1.0 and this will solve that problem. Doing it this way you won't have to restore the iPod which will erase it. If you can't do this then you can restore the iPod using the previous updater.
    How To: Downgrade iPod Firmware
    http://forums.ipodhacks.com/showthread.php?threadid=813
The other option is to use QT Pro which will work to correct the problem:
    http://forums.ilounge.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=146142
    1) Open up the Video file in Quicktime Pro
    2) Select File->Export
    3) Select "Movie to MPEG-4" beside "Export:", then click the OPtions button
    4) Select "Video" & make sure the "Video Format" is set to "Pass through"
    5) Do the same for "Audio", then hit OK
    6) Save the file
