MY IPOD DIED AND IT WONT CHARGE!!! HELP!
it died.. and now it won't charge. my computer doesnt see it and neither does iTunes. What's wrong and how can i fix it? PLEASE help!
Is the battery dead? Can you play it in a Dock or from an AC adapter. If need be, take it to a store with a working demo and ask if you can try yours in their Dock...that will narrow the problem down!
Could it be whatever you are using to charge it or the cable? (NEED MORE INFO to assist) Hopefully it is still under warranty! If not, try the ole latent defect approach nicely with them.
A friend of mine (the GM) at a major electronics chain store says they are getting 10 - 5th gen Ipod returns a day at his store alone due to battery and other problems.
I have a 3rd gen 15 g Ipod which is charged ONLY through the AC adapter attached to the Dock. (connected to an Imac G5 via Firewire for syncing). It had the 3G battery problem and unknown to me, Apple was already under pressure of a threatened (or actual) class action. They offered a replacement battery and installation after 2 yrs! I did it myself with a higher capacity battery instead since my 3rd gen Ipod is problem free!
Hope it works out for you.
I will do a battery replacement when the time comes MYSELF or I may switch to a Creative player...I am a loyal customer, but a device this expensive should not be a toss away when the battery goes belly up!. Besides, I think the earlier Ipods were built better when they were capturing their 70% marketshare I hear they actually glued the battery to the case this time (5th Gen)...sheesh, not a good way to keep a customer happy!(No I doubt it was for any engineering reason...I do not like Creative labs, but am considering switching to their MP3 player. At least the battery is easily replaceable behind a removable section of the back.
As much as I like my IPOD and Imac G5, I am becoming concerned about customer support that USED to be so good

My ipod touch 5th generation wont charge or turn on at all,
i upgraded to iOS 6.1.3 and after that my ipod started having trouble charging, at first i though the lightning cable was the problem so i bought 2 more lightning cable chargers and my ipod still would'nt charge, so it died. now the only thing my ipod does is when i try to turn it on it shows the apple logo and then the screen goes off and does it again for a few times and then the screen stays off and my ipod gets really hot but wont turn on for the rest of the day help!!The hotness indicate a hardware problem.

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer
- If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

If your iPod Touch, iPhone, or iPad is Broken
Apple does not fix iDevices. Instead, they exchange yours for a refurbished or new replacement depending upon the age of your device and refurbished inventories. On rare occasions when there are no longer refurbished units for your older model, they may replace it with the next newer model.
ATTN: Beginning July 2013 Apple Stores are now equipped to do screen repairs/replacements in-house on iPhone 5 and 5C. In some cases while you wait. According to Apple this is the beginning of equipping Apple Stores with the resources needed to do most repairs for iPhones, iPads, and iPod Touches that would not require major replacements. Later in the year the services may be extended as Apple Stores become equipped and staffed with the proper repair expertise. So, if you need a screen repaired or a broken screen replaced or have your stuck Home button fixed, call your local Apple Store to see if they are now doing these in-house.
You may take your device to an Apple retailer for help or you may call Customer Service and arrange to send your device to Apple:

Ive got the ipad 1 and it wont charge i bought a new ipone 4 charge lead but it wont work either what do u recommend
Could be the charger, cable or iPad. Plug the USB cable into your computer. It may say "Not Charging", however, it is charging slowly and will verify that the cable is good.
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. Faulty port on the computer
If something is wrong with your computer's FireWire or USB port, it may not supply power to iPod. Note: Only iPod mini can get power from a high-powered USB port using the supplied cable.
Check the connections.
Try another known-good FireWire (or high-powered USB) port on a different computer if available.
If you do not have access to another computer, use the Apple iPod Power Adapter.
Plug in one end of the FireWire cable to the Apple iPod Power Adapter and the other end to your iPod.
Plug the Apple iPod Power Adapter into a working electrical outlet.
If you have an iPod (with Dock Connector) model, connect the FireWire end to the Apple iPod Power Adapter and the dock connector to iPod. Warning: Never plug the dock connector end of the FireWire cable into a computer's FireWire port.
If this resolves the issue, consult your service and support guide to see how you can have the computer's port repaired.
Faulty Apple iPod Power Adapter
If something is wrong with the Apple iPod Power Adapter, it may not supply power to iPod.
Try another known-good electrical outlet.
Make sure all the connections are good. Try disconnecting and reconnecting all connections to make sure they are snug.
Try another Apple iPod Power Adapter if one is available.
Try connecting iPod to a computer's FireWire port using iPod's FireWire cable.
If this resolves the issue the Apple iPod Power Adapter needs to be repaired. You can arrange for repair at theiPod Service Website.
Best of luck,
Mario
