My iPOD does't work

I am going to describe what have happened until now:
1. My iPOD was connected to my computer and the songs were being writed in my iPOD, until the battery was too low and the iPOD turn off and disconnected.
2. I charged the battery and then I connected my iPOD to my computer again. iPOD was recognized by Windows XP and by iTUNES, but it doesn't start the songs transference. So, after a long waiting (15' aproximately), I disconnected the iPOD although the message at the iPOD was "Please, do not desconect".
3. I reconnected the iPOD to the computer and after waiting appeared a message: "iTUNES Cannot read the iPOD. Please restore your iPOD".
4. I restored my iPOD with the latest version of iTUNES, clicking in the restore button in the iPOD options of iTUNES. The informacion in that window was:
Name: IPOD (It's real name was "iPOD de Samuel García Vargas")
Capacity: n/d (It's real capacity is 15 GB)
Software Version: 2.3
Serial Number: xxxxxxxxxxx (It's correct serial number)
Format: Windows
But after restoring, a new message appeared: "You cannot restore your iPOD. Unknown error (1418)".
5. After trying the "five RS steps" I have no results.
So that's the reason why I am here.

Could you also take some time to pass some information for the Apple Engineers? Please copy and paste these questions into an email, make the subject of the email "iPod error report", add your answers, and send the email to Roy at Apple.
1. What error code are you seeing?
2. When are you seeing it (restoring or updating your iPod)?
3. Which iPod do you have?
4. What version of Windows do you have?
5. What Windows service pack do you have installed?

Remote for iPod does not work for MENU

I have just bought a 30GB iPod and the A/V connection Kit which includes a Remote. The menu function of the Remote has no effect on the iPod.
One reply to such question stated, quote ... it does not work ... it is meant for the front row software.
In the documentation provided with the A/V connection Kit, there was nothing re the limitation in functionality of the unit.
Could someone pls explain to me what is meant by "front row software" in relation to the iPod ?

Loaded in os4 now ipod does not work

loaded in os4 to my iphone 3gs and now the ipod function does not work.any suggestions?

That was happening to me as well.... it would open up for a couple seconds and then close out before I could do anything.
I resynced it and it started working again.
It happened to me after I downloaded an album to my phone, so I'm worried to try downloading another one

Does not work at all or were the songs/files just deleted from the iPod?
Not sure what the problem was but you might want to sync again iTunes with the files at the new location.

Nano ipod does not work in universal docking station but larger ipod does

My partner has a large ipod and I have a nano ipod. he can connect to the universal docking station and listent o music through the sound system but when I connect the nano ipod using the adaptor supplied with my nano ipod it does not recognise it even though it clicks in place as it is supposed to do. I also can not recognise my tracks on the ipod on the computer where the tracks had originally been transferred from, do you think the connector in my ipod has been damaged and is now not working?
I don't have any problems charging from the computer thopugh or listening to what is on it.
Can anyone help?

I have a similar but not quite the same issue. I have a toshiba tecra m3 laptop with windows xp pro. When I have the "enhanced usb driver" enabled under device configuration for my computer, my ports operate fine with usb 2.0 devices at full speed, but when I plug in my ipod it says that it is unrecognized.
If I disable the enhanced driver, then the ports dumb-down to usb 1.0, my ipod works fine with itunes but is a bit slow and other devices (like an external dvd burner) operate at slow speeds.
Also, whenever I plug in my ipod windows pops a box saying it would work faster if I plugged it into a usb 2.0 port. How helpful.

I have a 4th generation 40 gigabyte iPod, non-color.
Today, I plugged it into my computer to update my playlists.
My iTunes and Windows were lagged down. Eventually, when things caught up, my iTunes didn't show my iPod as being connected. I looked in My Computer, and it didn't say iPod -- it said "Removable Disk". I couldn't disconnect my iPod via Windows, even using the Safely Remove Hardware didn't work.
After looking around here and trying things like Disk Mode and Resetting the iPod, nothing worked. I can't get the iPod to work with the iPod Updater so I can try restoring it.
I dunno really what to do. If it's a hardware problem, then I'm not going to bother to get it repaired, since the music that's currently on it plays perfectly fine still.
I just dunno what else to try.

you basically are stuck. apple won't do crap for you. i went to the apple store today because my second ipod crashed (the first one they replaced) and they won't do anything for me and told me i had to buy a new one (2 in 1 1/2 years is what happened) so they wanted me to buy a third one when their product obviously *****. and the manager even basically admitted that the ipod that they claim is durable and relible isn't. that people go through 3-4 a year. the supposed "apple genius" told me to send it out to a third party repair. he wouldn't even look at it and lectured me for not getting the extended warranty. if you look at the website below and read you'll find that a lot of people got screwed over like me with the extended warranty;

2 iTunes folders on one computer, 1 iPod - does it work?

This part seems to work: putting one iTunes folder into the users>music folder at a time, with the other iTunes folder (containing its own iTunes Music folder and library) into a folder located elsewhere on the computer. If I just switch the entire iTunes folders then I can access each as I please. So far it works great that way (eventually I may merge the two but there are thousands of songs in each so it will be a monster job just creating new playlists). So now -- unless someone tells me that there is a problem with that part -- my question relates to putting music into my one (1) iPod. Can I do it from both iTunes libraries (one at a time)? Or can I just do it from one library?

Import everything into one library and then dedupe it.

- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iPod fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.

My ipod does not work on my laptop but it works on my PC

When I plug in my ipod to my laptop, it doesn't load up but when I plug it into my home PC, it starts up right away.
I looked through all of the options that are selected on the PC to see if there are any differences but I dont see any. Maybe I uninstalled something on my laptop that is needed to connect my ipod to the laptop.

- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

Reset the dock
See if there is a firmware update available for the dock

Ipod touch does not work with hex from sharper image

I just bought an ipod docking/speaker from sharper image (Hex) for my ipod touch. My ipod does not work on it. I have also had problems playing my ipod touch music on ihome products - works on some but does not work on others. Is it my ipod touch. thanks.

Some docks are not compatible with iOS 5. Ceeck with the manufacturer. Other users have post problems with iOS 5 and iHome docks too.

ILife 06 update now iPod does not sync

Folks,
agter upgrading to iLife 06 the update of my iPod does not work. I get the message that iTunes cannot write or read to this disk.
I had iTunes 6.02 before the update and everything worked fine.
IPod is an 60GB photo with newesr firmware.

You may have an Ownership & Permissions problem on your iPod.
Select your iPod on the desktop and Get Info (command-I).
Set the permissions to 'You can Read & Write'. Expand 'Details:' and click 'Apply to enclosed items...'.
Tick the checkbox 'Ignore ownership on this volume'.
If your iPod does not show up on the desktop, you have to 'Enable disk use' in Prefernces>iPod (iTunes preferences)
