My ipod doesn't display what is playing?

I have a 60GB video ipod and it doesn't display the song that is playing on it anymore in the now playing option. If it is playing a song I downloaded from the music store the picture comes up and takes up the whole screen but it no longer lists what is playing. How do I get this back? Please help me!!!!

Pressing the center button while it is playing should toggle you back to the screen you want

  • Wish iTunes would display what's playing now on all your radio stations

Can't somebody write a script to do this? I've written one that will make it play each of the stations in turn and record the track to the Description column. But there must be some way to retrieve the currently playing track and artist from each station without having to actually play them.
Ideally, they would update themselves as aeach new track was played. So if a song/artist came up that you really wanted to hear you could just call up that station...

If you have an iPod Touch, you could use the Remote application. I believe that it then shows you what's playing in iTunes on the Touch screen.

  • My iPod doesn't display certain videos, it only plays the sound.

The files are in .mp4 format. I have them in my iTunes as well. I tried to play them in there and I have the same problem. However, in iTunes the files have a thumbnail picture. I have managed to play all of the files in Media Player. They work fine with that.
How do I get the picture back?

If these files do not play properly in iTunes, then that indicates a problem with the actual file.  Did you use any sort of video conversion software to create these MP4's?  If so, what program was it?  Perhaps you should re-encode them to MP4 again using another great program such as Handbrake.

  • Even my iPod doesn't know what's wrong with it.

I have a 4th Gen iPod that just stopped working a few months ago. I have checked the iPod support pages, but I have the apparently unique problem of getting pretty much every error message that you can get. The Sad iPod, the Folder and exclamation mark, the low battery symbol, and sometimes the Apple apple for a few seconds before it turns off.
It doesn't seem like it's a battery issue, since it was working fine one day and then just stopped starting up the next. It might be, though, I simply don't know. I've been pretty much resigned to the probability that my iPod is broken forever, but I really miss it.
Has anyone experienced anything similar to this and know what is wrong? I highly doubt that several problems just started over the course of one night, but I get all the error messages. My iPod isn't covered under warranty any more, so if there is some way to get it fixed, knowing the cost for fixing whatever is wrong would be helpful as well.
    Thanks.

I'm assuming you tried to restore/update it.
It sounds like either a nasty hardware issue or you could have corrupted files on your iPod.
When all else fails, get a refurb from apple.
Their cheaper and just as good.

  • IPod doesn't display album info

    Hi everyone.
I'm desperately writing this topic due to a strange problem I began to face with my iPod Nano after installing Windows 7 Ultimate. After setting the PC up, I re-installed iTunes - as well as other programmes - and opened my old library - I had made a backup of it with a DVD. iTunes seemed to work properly while I synced it with the iPod. When I first used my nano, though, I noticed that some album info were missing. Covers, track's duration - even some tracks themselves - etc., despite of appearing normally in iTunes, wouldn`t be displayed in the iPod. At first, I reckoned it to be a small issue and followed the "Troubleshot assistance five steps". Nothing worked up to now, and it's starting to get to me. Does someone have a clue of how to solve this problem?
    I'm really grateful.

You posted to the wrong area of discussions. This is the 5th Generation iPod group (the video full sized iPods that were released previous to the "Classic" models). If you are asking a Nano question, you want to post to this area...

  • Why my ipod doesn't display properly my personal blog?

Why my ipod touch does not display properly my personal blog (satriyonitiatmojo.com), for example this post > Century 21 Broker Properti Jual Beli Sewa Rumah Indonesia. Is it the ipod does not support something script? Or do I have to update the iOS? Thanks

The Century 21 page looks fine n my 4G iPod in Safar with iOS 5.  Looks like it does in Safai on my Mac.

  • IPod doesn't display a Podcasts menu

I have a old 2d generation Ipod (with dock connector) with the latest upgrade
(2.3) and itunes 7.0.1. Everything was working fine until the latest iTunes upgrade (I think) as I can no longer see/update podcasts on it. What's up with that? Is is a bug? How do I go back to a previous version of iTunes? I downloaded 6.0.5 but it won't let me install it.
    Thanx

I suspect (but cannot prove) that we all experience slightly different symptoms when the On-The-Go goes wrong, depending on which version of Windows we have. And I don't just mean between Windows XP and Windows 7. There are the "Home", "student" and professional versions to consider, along with the different PC vendor versions.
I have sent yet another bug report in about the On-The-Go problem, which is an iTunes one, not an iPod one. The original issue deleted every single Playlist from my iPod Touch and my iTunes Library. But with my iPod Classic (different user on the same PC), it simply refused to copy On-The-Go Playllists back in to iTunes while creating empty ones instead. With iTunes 10.6.3.25, the Touch appears to work correctly and while the Classic does now import the Playlist, it still creates empty ones to go with them!

  • HT4623 my ipod doesn't display "software update" in settings

I have an ipod touch 3rd generation, and want to update it.  When I go into my settings, then to general, there is not a "software update" option.  Can I change that?  or is it because my itouch is too old?

    See:
iOS 4: Updating your device to iOS 5 or later
You need itunes 10.5 or later on your computer.

  • Neo iOn-2 iPod  Vehicle Adapter doesn't display tune info on vehicle screen

I recently bought a "Neo iOn-2 iPod to GM12" for my 2004 Chevy Avalanche. It plays GREAT thru the factory installed Bose system but does NOT display what's playing on the XM/Radio screen. I was told by the Mp3YourCar.Com people that they are awaiting an upgrade from Apple for the iPod classic (160GB). This adapter is supposed to work in TWO modes -- direct or advanced. Direct means the iPod wheel is disabled and only six playlists can be accessed/played. Information is displayed on the vehicle screen in this mode but remaining MANY tunes cannot be accessed.
Advanced allows control via iPod wheel AND displays on vehicle screen same as on iPod. Plays beautifully but does not display on vehicle screen -- only on iPod.

I'm STILL waiting from some sort of assistance on this. The mp3yourcar.com people said there is a known problem with the unit and iPod and Apple is supposedly working on a fix that should have been available as an update about a month ago. To date -- NOTHING!!!
PLEASE! Doesn't anybody have any suggestions or ideas?

  • Ipod mini doesn't display screen completely

Mini ipod doesn't display screen correctly. The battery discharges very quickly when not in use.

Have you tried any of these?
    iPod won't turn on.
    iPod battery doesn't charge.
Your Windows PC doesn't recognize the iPod is connected.
iPod only shows an Apple logo and doesn't start up.
    Putting iPod into disk mode.
Restoring using disk mode is often the key.
If none of the above help, it will need service.

  • (ipod 30Gig) doesn't display the song that is playing on the ipod screen

Every time I click on the song I want to listen to, the screen slides over and the new screen is blank. The song plays but the song that is "now playing" doesn't display any information on the screen at all. It is totally blank. Has anyone ever heard of this happening. I don't want to reset my ipod for such a small problem because I've erased a lot of the music I have on itunes. At the same time it is annoying to not see the song name/length/volume or album art.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions
I actually had this happen once and a reset worked. I think you are confused by what a reset is. A reset is when you press and hold the Menu and Select button for at least 6 seconds or until the Apple Logo apears; this does not erase music on your iPod. A restore is when you use the iPod updater to erase all of the files on your iPod and put it in the original Factory settings.

  • 30G iPod doesn't play audio in movies or videos

My 30G iPod doesn't play audio in movies or videos... Can anybody help me?
    Thanks!

What is the source of the videos and movies? Downloaded from the iTunes store or did you convert them from other sources? If the latter...
QuickTime expects video files with separate video and audio tracks, but many MPEG formats used a muxed (multiplexed) single track that contains both. Therefore, iTunes & the iPod (both of which use QuickTime) only show the video and no sound.
iPod plays video but not audio of some exported files

One way to work around this is to use MPEG Streamclip to convert the files to fix this issue...

Three issues here.  The pre-pending is useless when selecting songs to play, plus it.takes up much of the admittedly limited space in my on-screen menu.  Since it doesn't help me select a song to play, it simply prevents more relevant info from being displayed in that area.  However, there is a second area on the menu that is designed to list title, artist and album but those fields are blank - despite I-tunes inclusion of the info in the xferred files.
    JCP,
Regarding the tags, on an MP3 CD iTunes simply burns whatever is embedded in the MP3 file.  From your description, it sounds like the Onkyo is seeing the filenames but not the tags, which does seem strange.  You may want to try the question in an Onkyo forum.
If you don't need the pre-pended serial number, and don't care about the sequence, you can burn from iTunes as a data CD instead of an MP3 CD.
