My ipod doesn't get recognized by my pc

hi, for a longer time now, i've got several problems with my ipod nano, the first is, the ipod doesnt really start, it shows the apple logo and after that it turns off and restarts... and thats what it does all the time, until the battery is empty...
and the second problem is, that, if i connect my ipod to my pc, it only charges the battery, but the pc doesnt really recognizes the ipod, because its still restarting all the time. i already tried to reset the ipod by switching the hold button and pressing menu and use.
thank you already!

Tried everything what was on the troubleshooting.
When I plug in my ipod(mini), i hear the sound you should hear. That confirms that a devices is plugged in.
But after that nothing. In Itunes there is no ipod icon, no new drive at "This Computer" and the ipod updater doesn't recognize him so i can't format the ipod.
Probably a lot of these threads but im too lazy to check them all out, so do you know what to do ?

Furthermore, have i tried connecting my iPod with my PC, but the iPod Touch doesn't charge / get recognized by my pc. I re-installed everything which has to do with Apple and i also tried resetting my iPod manually.

  • USB external HD suddenly doesn't get recognized ... same with memory sticks

I used an old Trekstor HD for TimeMachine. Worked just fine. Then, from one month to another (I kinda neglected making backups :P) the HD doesn't register when I plug it in. No sign that the MacBook even noticed that I stuck something inside it's USB port.
    But:
    * The HD works. It gets recognized just fine under windows (although windows can't read the drive).
    * The USB port works. iPod syncs just fine, USB printer prints, USB mouse mouses ...
    * other USB memory sticks are not recognized either. They work in the PC, but not in the MacBook.
I can just assume that there's some setting that prevents OS X from hooking up external harddrives.
I have absolutely no idea what I can do about it. Help please?
    Running OS X 10.5.8

+old Trekstor HD+ may be clue.
Possible HDD died, but your Win still sees something becuase USB port functions.
Next time you plug the HDD into your MB, use System Profiler to check it.
That may be best clue to see health of the HDD.
And consider getting a new external HDD, at least as backup for your backup.
    Cheers!

  • My iPod Touch 4g doesn't get recognized with iTunes anymore after updating it to IOS 6 on a diffrent computer but it still charges

Help me, how can I fix this?

AFAIK, downloading directly to the device is typically smaller as it only gets the stuff it needs for your specific device as oposed to the  full download  when downloading from iTunes.
Correct, no Siri for iTouch 4th gen.
The Maps app is there, but I moved it around, so I'm not sure where it is on your device, but its in there.
Safari is updated in iOS 6, your other apps should update in the App Store when their developers release updates, I've launched only a few apps so far, no problems with compatibility!

  • Ipod doesn't get recognised in Itunes

Got me a new Ipod nano 8GB
I installed new version of itunes and updated all software on pc...
Now my Ipod automaticly makes itself a J: drive which used to be the one of my external drive...
In any case, my ipod appears in itunes but I can;t put music on it cus it gets thrown out with or error 1439 or something about map not being found
What can I do now? My idea was to un-install the ipod so when I connect it again in Itunes I can decide myself which drive it should use ?
Can I change the drive manually (how do I do that?) or doesn't that change the problem ?
    Thanks for the help

I changed the drive today, hoping to resolve the problem with that but it's still the same... Ipod appears in Itunes and when I want to put music on the Ipod I get the popup screen that says: syncro.failed, can't find folder...
So if I understand correctly this means Itunes has problems with finding out where my Ipod is...I was able to put 1 song on the Ipod and by the 2nd it fialed and lost contact with the Ipod...I'm getting nuts over here !!

  • My iPod doesn't get the advertised Battery Life.

I have had this 4th generation iPod for a few months and at first it started out great, but now it's battery life has decreased significantly. I now only recieve a little over a day on standby. I always shut down the running apps via the multitasking bar. It really irks me that the battery doesn't last as long as it used to because before I could leave the apps on without worrying about the batterlife and I would get a good 3 days on standby. Now I have to turn everything off and I only get one day. Does anyone know what is wrong? It would really appreciate the help!

Have Apple Care? Give them a call...
Otherwise, walk it into the nearest Apple Store and ask for an opinion there.
    Good luck in any case.

  • My Ipod does'nt get recognized by windows or Itunes.

When i plug my Ipod in with my USB-device, it makes the sound that it normally does when the Ipod is plugged in, but it is not recognized on windows nor Itunes. I have tried to Uninstall and re-install.
    Please help!!

    What does "USB device" mean?
through a hub is not a supported configuration.
through another USB devcie, like USB hard drive or something would also be treated as a USB hub.
And to troubleshoot, rule out and simplify, and connect direct to USB ports coming from the motherboard, depends on just what style type computer you have, notebook, tower, other.

  • Ipods fail to get recognized by itunes but appear in my computer - already tried different solutions

    Hello,
i have iPod nano 6th generation 8GB and while it is recognized in My computer it isn't recognized in iTunes. When i plug the device on my mac it recognizes it and synces properly.
When i first plugged my nano on my PC it said it can't be recognized or something like that (i didn't do printscreen on that one) so i proceeded and after i saw itunes downloading software i though this woudl take couple of minutes so i left the PC.
when i came back i couldn't see it anywhere in itunes but i was able to see it in my computer like removable device (only with the nano icon) and i was able to see it in device manager.
I have tried the "iPod troubleshooting assistant" and tried this:
iPod: Appears in Windows but not in iTunes >> http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1363
    both without having any success.
i wasn't able to complete 6. "Change your iPod's drive letter" as all of the options weren't available to click on.
also i tried plugging my older iPod clasic that i use it very rarely since i started using my nano and same thing happened! first it said your device can't be detected please restore or something like that (i forgot to make a screenchot again, i know, so stupid).
after that it didn't appeared in itunes and had all they sypmtoms the nano had but i tried doing the restore on my mac and it went great and synced data also but when i plug it back on my PC it was the same old story...
my library is much bigger on my PC and i would like to sync my data from there as i don't want to keep a lot of stuff on my mac's SSD. all things point this is a PC issue (as expected) but i would like to fix things instead of doing a clean win 7 install as i have a lot of supplementary software i need to reinstall.
any help is appreciated in advance.
    thanks. mile

    Hello Coobyj,
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities!
It sounds like something may have disabled the Apple Mobile Device Service, so I would check that next.
This article should help with that:

  • Ipod touch doesnt get recognized by windows or itunes?

okay so just recently i would plug in my ipod touch and the little noise windows makes to say that something has been plugged in rings except itunes wont recognize it or windows will make it seem like its not even there like its plugged in but a ghost HELP PLEASE!

This may not be your problem but I though it might be worth mentioning. I was having the same problem until I realized I had bought a second usb cable since a family member was always borrowing mine. I spent several days going crazy because my ipod touch was unable to sync with my PC. I finally swapped the new cable for the old and things worked fine.
I discovered that the new cable was only for recharging the battery and not syncing!!! It was only upon looking at the cable packaging that it said in fine print - for charging only!!!
I have no idea why they don't state that more clearly on the outer packaging.
    Good luck!

  • AirPort Express (first Generation) doesn't get recognized with latest Itunes. (everything has the latest updates). This is on WIndows 7. Just started today after getting latest Itunes Version.

I am sure this has been addressed, but I will ask again, and then start sifting through prior posts.
I have Windows 7, AirPort Express (First Generation), and the latest Itunes (11, I believe). All updates are current on the both the Itunes and AirPort Express. All of a sudden today, when wanting to play music off of Itunes (it does show that I have both outlets checked and in blue [my computer & airport]) after about a minute it displays a statement saying "The Network Connection Timed Out". And then finally plays on my computer. This just started today. It has always worked, and now, not sure what to do. I have unplugged and plugged back both the airport express and my router.
Any help would be so much appreciated. This is truly why I hesitate to get the newest version of Itunes.  There always seems to be an issue. Anyway...HELP!
    David

    A bizarre update.
Decided to use the XP VM to handle the iPhone and it was downloading the latest update when it failed.
At that point Windows 7 iTunes popped up to say it had found an iPhone in recovery mode.  I let it try a restore which also failed (VM couldn't complete the restore either).
Plugged the iPhone back in to my old PC to complete recovery and restore and then plugged it back in to the Windows 7 PC - which now can't see the iPhone!!
So it detected it when in recovery mode but not when it was functioning normally.
Are older versions of iTunes available to allow the backout of 10.4 which just seems so flaky on 64 bit Windows 7?

  • Firewire soundcard doesn't get recognized anymore

    Hi all,
    I have a weird problem.
I've been using a Behringer FCA202 firewire audio interface.
This has always worked perfectly on both my mac mini(G4) & my macbook(intel C2D).
yesterday I installed an update for my intel & my G4.
The problem I now have is that my firewire card is still functional on my mini but no longer on my macbook...
If I look by means of system profiler I can still see it being connected to my firewire controller, but it no longer shows up in my Audio/midi setup...
Does anybody have an idea on how I could fix this?
    Many thanks in advance,
    Miguel

    Hi MigCla,
Unplug everything except your magsafe from your macbook.
Try to boot into safe mode by booting and press shift key, repair your permission by opening application folder > utilities > disk utility > repair disk.
And reconnect that firewire card afterward, and re-set up if it shows back up in audio/midi set up.
If your Firewire card have any driver that comes with, re-install it or check their sites for newer driver if available.
    Good Luck.
